OC Public Works probably should have a water truck on scene when working in a high fire area when equipment possibly can cause sparks. Hopefully the firefighters can get the fire under control soon. Prayers going out to the firefighters and the people who live in the area.

It got to me when the reporter said they may lose Santiago Peak... Years ago, I used to take my Jeep up those access roads and enjoy the view from Santiago Peak. There's a little plaque up there that notes how it is the highest point in Orange County. What a sad day for Orange County... My prayers for the safety of everyone in the vicinity and our firefighters.
We were doing so good with hardly any fires this summer and bam!!! Here it is and it's devastating for lots of us and families all over , keep our fire fighters safe out there ..they are absolutely brave and honored.. 🙏🏼🙏🏼☮️
OK, so I work across the street from a fire station in Lake Forest. And all the firefighters seem really calm and they explained that they’re sort of letting the fire do the work for them. As long as it doesn’t touch the houses they’re happy. They’re letting the fires take care of the dry fueland another time. So it’s under control. But everyone seems to be on the same page.
What about the cabins in the canyon at holy jims?? Those guys are behind where the fire started, and what about people on the waterfall trail?? Hard to believe everyone was able to get out if it started at the RC airport
I live in the eastern side of the US, not near the coast, and this summer alone it has rained twice for ab 10 min each time. It never rains here anymore and no snow in the winter either.
invasive vegetation piles over the years as dead brush. When it ignites, that's a heck of a lot of fuel and native plants can't cope well. This clears way for even more invasive vegetation to sprout and the cycle repeats. It doesn't help that 90% + of these fires are human-caused and occur much more frequently than ever before.
That tower is the 911 communications for OC it should be safe they have a fire break all around the facility, So tired of the Heat ! And now all this smoke and ash everywhere ....
Creating a sophisticated dispensing system that can effectively deploy a gel-forming solution over a fire zone involves integrating two key components: the formulation of the gel-like substance and a delivery mechanism that ensures rapid and precise deployment. Here’s how we can design such a system: ### Formulation of Gel-like Fire Suppression Substance: #### Ingredients (Enhanced with Graphene): 1. **Surfactants**: Mild surfactants suitable for foaming and stability. 2. **Thickeners/Gelling Agents**: Ingredients that rapidly form a gel, enhanced with graphene for improved heat resistance and strength. Options include: - **Bentonite Clay**: Provides rapid gel formation and is fire-resistant. - **Guar Gum**: Natural thickener that enhances viscosity and stability. - **Carbomer**: Synthetic polymer for creating a gel-like texture. - **Graphene**: Added for its thermal conductivity and fire-resistant properties. 3. **Water**: Primary solvent. 4. **Fire Retardants**: Active ingredients like ammonium phosphate or potassium carbonate to suppress combustion. 5. **Preservatives**: Maintains stability. 6. **Optional Additives**: Fragrance or colorants. ### Design of Dispensing System: #### Components: 1. **Dual Chamber Cartridge**: - Divided into two chambers to separately store the components of the gel-forming solution. - One chamber holds the surfactants, thickeners, fire retardants, and water. - The other chamber stores a graphene-enhanced component or activator. 2. **Mixing and Dispensing Mechanism**: - **Mechanical Mixing**: As the cartridge is deployed, a mechanical system (e.g., a piston or mixing blade) ensures that the contents of both chambers are mixed thoroughly before dispensing. - **Activation**: Incorporate a mechanism that activates the mixing process upon deployment, ensuring rapid and homogeneous mixing of the gel components. 3. **Deployment System**: - **Spray Nozzle or Sprinkler System**: Depending on the application, a spray nozzle or a sprinkler system can be designed to disperse the gel over the fire zone and the surrounding area. - **Pressure System**: Utilize a pressure system to ensure sufficient force for dispensing the gel at the desired range and coverage. 4. **Control and Monitoring**: - **Remote Activation**: Include remote activation capabilities for deployment in hazardous areas. - **Monitoring Sensors**: Integrate sensors to monitor the effectiveness of gel dispersion and fire suppression. ### Operational Steps: 1. **Deployment Preparation**: Ensure the cartridge is loaded and ready for deployment in firefighting equipment. 2. **Activation**: Upon activation (manually or remotely), the mixing mechanism initiates, blending the gel-forming substances and graphene. 3. **Deployment**: The mixed gel is dispensed through the spray nozzle or sprinkler system, covering the fire zone and the area ahead of the fire to prevent its spread. 4. **Monitoring and Adjustment**: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of gel deployment and adjust as necessary to contain and extinguish the fire. By integrating advanced materials like graphene into the gel formulation and designing a precise dispensing system, this solution aims to enhance firefighting capabilities, offering rapid and effective fire suppression in critical situations.
This was a spark from a maintenence crew moving a boulder. It can be many things: Spark from a car driving by, lightening, thrown cigarette, improperly put out camp fire, blown or overheating electrical transformer, a downed powerline blown by wind or falling due to shifting land like you have in Palos Verde landslide area. There was one fire started by idiots having a baby reveal party with some exploding blue or pink box. But quite often the most i hear are things like downed electrical wires or overheated transformers. I think in the northern cali mountains you can often get lighting that starts them from passing unstable air.
Yup not surprised here I heard today in the morning news they needed about 48 hours to contain it. I was like hell no they ain’t containing nothing if they need that much time . Just lame lie excuse. Now they’re saying something else. 🤦♂️
