I have two rosemary that were tiny and now are big dark green healthy bushes! They absolutely love to be watered! I watered them everyday. My mother did NOT water hers enough. They were bought the same day. Hers was tiny and dying. So I took it over a month ago, pruned it and gave it water and repotted it! Now it is getting big and bushy like mine. Of course mine were in pots outside, and I am in New Hampshire for reference, zone 4-5. I just Planted my Biggest Rosemary in the ground because I think it is so healthy it will do great through the winter. I wish I could post a picture in the comments. I took a few cuttings to root and keep inside incase it does not survive the winter. But it is 55 degrees and it is doing great in the ground so far! All the videos I see say not to water until completely dry, and in the comments I see so many with dying rosemarys (probably because they are under watering due to the videos). In the summer outside, they need water everyday, and pruning to make it bushier! I also mulched the top in the container to hold moisture. And fertilized every two months. I have never sprayed the leaves with water, but if you see browning or shriveled needles, look underneath and you will find Aphids sucking the moisture out of them. They love new growth, so check often after pruning especially, put on some plastic gloves you use for Covid protection and squish those little shits! They have soft bodies and are tiny and yellow. They reproduce quickly because they are born pregnant, so if you see one and leave it, their will be hundreds the next day, then thousands. Good luck all! I’m about to bring one in for the winter, I will update if I can keep it as healthy as I have all summer
THANK YOU! GREAT VIDEO! Lots of great information. I love rosemary and have killed many myself without a clue as to why they died. Sometimes they would die and I couldn't tell because the needles were still green and didn't fall! After watching several other (useless) videos on ""Planting and Growing" none addressed how to REALLY care for rosemary INDOORS. You provided fantastic and thorough information while being entertaining at the same time! I feel inspired and confident to try again...Thank you so much. Keep up the good work!!!
I've never been able to keep rosemary alive indoors so this has been very helpful. I've grown thai and italian basil, oregano, thyme, chervil, dill, cilantro, chives, green onions, pepper plants, trees, succulents and flower plants. But when it comes to rosemary, I just don't know what I keep doing wrong. I'm gonna use these tips and keep my fingers crossed.
I love Rosemary, but you are correct on it not being the easiest herb to grow! This vid was very helpful, and I think I will give it another go to see if I can truly maintain the growth of one of these awesome plants.
I've killed a few also, but when i stayed regimented with their indoor care they grew wonderfully...main issue was sticking with it and not forgetting to mist it occasionally. Never give up!
Thanks for the video. I love rosemary. It grows like crazy in Seattle, where I am from. When I moved to the Bay Area (9b) I didn't water it enough and it doesn't look great. I am glad to know it likes water and moisture. It's so goooood in food, many ways. I look forward to making my plant better.
I love seattle! I can see how it would grow well up there with the mild weather, well-draining soil and plenty of rainfall. I suppose the soil up there is technically volcanic right? I used to spend my summers up in Seattle with my aunt and I remember how amazing the soil was, lots of random rocks but it drained just perfectly!
Just wanted to say love your personality! You’re the first plant TH-camr I’ve found genuinely interesting to watch. I think you’re as cute as your adorable rosemary plant
Thank you so much!! I've killed 3 rosemary plants now...so I've probably failed. They kept getting mildew and I couldn't figure out why!! Ugghh it hurts my heart. Oh well. Thank you so much for the tips. P.S. "Unless you want the fish to die, then you're a monster and I don't care if it bothers you..."😂 That made my day.
I was looking for help and a search brought up your channel. I will subscribe. 3rd time I've killed a rosemary plant. Drainage clog. I repotted it but it isn't looking good. I can grow mint from seed but I kill cacti and succulents. I'm an over waterer. I'm learning. On the bright side, the nursery's herbs and annuals are deeply discounted so it gave me an excuse to go look at all the beautiful plants and get another rosemary. I won't give up. It's one of my favorite herbs. Thanks for the tips.
Over the past several years, I have tried growing rosemary outdoors and have failed each time. The leaves get some black spots at the start then the entire leaf gets black and dried. This spread to the other leaves, after which the plant dies. I see the same thing at the nurseries too. Ur video was enlightening!❤️ Love ur indoor garden 😍
Hi tropical plant party! I just got a rosemary plant indoors a few days ago and it has been turning brown and becoming droopy. I've given it a mist and it seems to look a bit greener but still drooping. Any tips on how I can save it? Thanks!
Such a fun video to watch while I learned why I've killed so many Rosemary plants in my time. Armed with this new knowledge, I'm looking forward to keeping my current Rosemary alive for years to come. Thank you! LOL .... you're cracking me up!
I always kill mine :( Now it makes sense why :) Well, next time I get one, I'll know what to do. Thanks! FYI, I can barely hear background noise when you film.
thank you! I can never tell because edit right next to the pond and fans, so it's like double background noise to try and clean out of the audio in the videos.
This was very informative. I just bought one for my restroom and I think i over watered it, after watching this video. Yup I sure dude. I hope I can save it now. Thanks again for this video
This is the most hilarious and informative channel I've ever came across! I was laughing so hard I cried. And I learned so much!! Gotta go run and binge watch all your videos! xoxo
Great video. This is the second Rosemary am killing. Hope to salvage it after watching. You got a new Subscriber. You are very expletive. Love from Nigeria
I wish I watched this video like a month ago!! I got a rosemary bonsai for the holiday and mine dried out I live in Michigan and it’s all grey now not sure if I can bring it back! But will use these tips!
Just got a rosemary tree from my grocery store and was SO surprised when i saw them! I HAD to get one even tho i wasnt prepared and dont know where im gonna put it 😂.
A great fun, informative, reassuring video! Thank you. The best part was where you said it is not a fail until you have tried and they they have died (I am a poet) at least three times...
So at 5:50 we’re talking about watering the leaves every or every other day And at 6:40 we’re talking about watering the .. soil? Every two weeks or so. Did I get this right
🌲 That's the prettiest Rosemary plant ever! Love that little herb. I found a neat recipe on wiki how to do anything for Aloe Vera shampoo with Rosemary, Peppermin or your fave like lavender essential oil, some castile soap ect. and it is refreshing! I seen that advertisement for a herb kit, soooo cool, I'm going to order that for sure.
My rosemary bush looks different? It seems more like a bush than a herb plant? Also I under watered it so it's really dry, but I watered it a few days ago. I'm hoping he'll come back to life. I don't think the roots got too dry. Thanks for the information.
I was just looking at those the other day but I didn't get it yet cuz I'm just not ready for Christmas stuff. I usually like to wait till the day after Thanksgiving to start Christmas things. Thank you for the tips on how not to kill it hopefully LOL! I will definitely get one this year and I really like the little pine (can't remember the exact name) that smells like lemon/citrus. I have a couple of Norfolk pines so I want something different cuz I don't think I really need another one this year but if I see a really nice one it may just have to come home with me LOL Happy Thanksgiving!🧡🦃
I am almost giving up on rosemary plants...alteady died 4 plants...don.t know what i.m doing wrong..going to try your tips..the same goes with the lavender plant..alteady lost one...other plants i have no problem , but have no luck with 2 kinds of plants...
Very helpful video! Like your fun personality!😁 Have a question about rosemary: one side a cluster of branches the leaves turned brown fell off, so I trimmed down those few branches on the one side. The rest of the plant is doing great and I keep seeing new growth all the time. My question is: will new growth come in the spring on those "dead" branches or is it just dead? And if it is something more serious will it affect the rest if the plant? (Mine is same size as yours but doesn't have the pot liner but does have good drainage and I water soil like you explain and it is kept on plate with raised ridges so it wont sit in it's drained water)..Thanks!😁
Best video I've found on TH-cam for keeping rosemary alive inside! You have great tips and commentary and made me laugh several times. I just got a couple of rosemary trees for christmas, they are starting to look rough, but maybe I can baby them and keep them alive. I had it in a clay pot until I knew why! The soil was infested with small cockroaches!!!! I was so disgusted! I actually really love the water sound and appreciate that the volume of your speech compensates for it perfectly.
that's so kind of you to say! thank you! I'm just finishing tomorrow's video on my new editing software and the audio is a mess!
After killing 23,000 in my lifetime I decided to watch a video on keeping them alive. lol. You have a Beautiful greenhouse
Yeah they just keep on dying...my other plants do so well, but rosemary and lavender, think on giving up on them...
The sound of the flowing water is actually rather soothing 😌
Love the decorative drainage dish. The water sounds and your voice put me to meditative state , so now I have to re watch it.

@@wasilaahmad4056 my conclusion is that climate also matters. I'm in Chicago and I'm trying to grow them in my apartment.
@@noobmaster31 Thank you Bob, I really appreciate. Am in Nigeria. Could be climate. And I love Rosemary the most. I will give it another go.
Finally someone who knows how to take care of rosemary. Thank you for this video
Thanks for making this! I should have done more research once I got mine, now I'm trying to save it from dying!

I love the bowl under the the plant and thank you for the help on the watering approach as well as noting that growing Rosemary can be challenging.

I love 🐠 an the sound of water 💦, great info TY
thank you Gerri!
No wonder my Rosemary always looks so blah, the leaves never get wet unless it rains so it's always just gray.
that's pretty typical, they don't really like to be wet, but indoors with super dry air it helps to mist them or even just around them here and there.

Droppy leaves means that they need water
Can you do one for growing blue vervain indoors?
Very helpful. Thanks a lot!!
I love rosemary so much I bought all 6 different types of rosemary.
Thank you for this informative video. I learned A LOT! :)
Do I need to put small stones or gravel in pot before the soil for rosemary?
There are 2 drain holes already.
My rosemary always does good until i repot. Then it goes downhill...

would it be wise to leave it out on my balcony? I live in Canada - and it's cold out here now.
What is the best potting soil for rosemary?
Great video! 👍
Thank you!

When I put water I overflow water in pot of rosemary because I really wanted to wet rosemary.
Thanks for the tips!
Okay so i failed with the plant but i will not give up
Never give up! That's the spirit!
I failed the last plant I had. I'm trying now to grow some from some cuttings I bought from the store, glutton for punishment, but I love this herb so much. Thank you for so much information. Now I know what I did wrong and not to do it again. ❤
I think I might have over water it😫. Hope my Rosemary plant will still survive.
my rosemary doesn't like humidity. I live in California and it's pretty dry. If I mist my rosemary, it starts to have white powder mildew...
what camera are you using
nice Shot!
Thank you! I use the Sony A7sii(a7s2) and was using a zeiss 24-70mm lens. :)
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving!
This is SUPER helpful
I borought all kinds of rosemary out there, and there are 6 different types of rosemary and I bought all of them,
can rosemary grow outside canada in a pot during winter?
Depends on the variety, but most dont like to be left in freezing temps for extended periods of time, especially if it is wet.
I've never grown them inside, it will be awful because i live in the south mediterranean area(and because i planted a plant of rosemary when i was 5, last year was a 1.5 m high plant but now it's dead you know .... it was really old). I've also seen a lot wild rosemary here just driving on the costal street it was growing in an area that is almost vertical (it was the hanging variety )along with some Mediterranean fan palms; agaves ;olive trees and other native plants......
that sounds lovely!
Awww sorry to hear that
I should clarify that I meant the drive sounds lovely, not the dead plant you had for such a long time! Sorry to hear about that!
@@TropicalPlantParty from 1 plant i made 3 of them in 2-5 weeks ;)

My favorite smell of a plant but need to have the proper care
I killed my rosemary outdoors. 😫 I overwatered it because I’m a noob.
I've killed plenty of rosemary and lavender. We get a lot of heat and rain in summer time so they can be tricky here. I've learned that planting up in a mound, which is like a root ball raised a few inches from the ground with soil raised up around it...basically planting them a little higher than the soil surface on the ground. ... that this method helps a lot with them getting too wet.
Trick to Lavender is to add sand and pea rocks to soil. Works well with clay soil areas like the NW. Also keep PH around 6- 6.5
My dumb ass planted rosemary in a container with a tomato plant...
