I love how the Trooper went from scary & serious to kind & compassionate in a matter of seconds. That really shows some of the multiple roles police have everyday. That Trooper saw that he was kid that was injured & scared, then changed his cap accordingly. It's impressive! 👏
I was thinking the same thing! He sounded like an angry and scared father, then, realizing their young ages, he softened some and attended to their needs accordingly. I am so glad that there was no one injured in this impulsive, reckless act. Hopefully it scared the literal 💩 out of ALL of them, so they NEVER REPEAT such an idiotic, and, possibly deadly, stunt! 😮

That is because their agency becomes liable for any collisions with outside parties if they collide with a vehicle not involved with the chase. It's the same reason why fire and rescue units also will slow to ensure the intersection is safe before crossing. Lights and siren do not absolve first responders from ensuring it is safe to enter an intersection before doing so.

This was probably the most somber PIT I've witnessed here. Things could have gone so much worse. I'm also impressed at the compassion the officer showed the juvenile once the dust started to settle.
I am sure that the parents of the kid that was driving will be thrilled that their nice SUV is now not only the subject of a criminal investigation but totaled.

I was a paramedic a lifetime ago. I've seen the unlucky ones who were ejected... its not a pretty sight. The only lucky ones I ever saw in my career only survived because they were drunk. Lucky indeed!
That was a great example of the compassion that the trooper was able to show the 14yr old that was ejected to keep him calm and soothing assurance of the outcome that he was going to be okay! Hopefully this will teach this kid, if not all involved, to stop f**king up now, and he just might just keep his ass out jail in the future!!!

Small critique as a military veteran trained in combat lifesaving: When a dangerous hazard exists, make sure everyone is aware of it as soon as possible. Power lines may re-energize at any moment without warning. Also, if aomeone has a head injury and has fallen/been thrown, DO NOT MOVE THEM. Keep them immobilized as much as possible until medics arrive. I appreciate him trying to put the kid at ease but he needed to stay where he was until they could get a cervical collar on him and secure him to a backboard.

When that flight response kicks in they WILL NOT STOP. They don't even SEE risks. They just want to stay free even a few moments more. In A FEW cases they might actually get away, but none of them are ever actually thinking they're "getting away". They're just thinking, "RUN! Don't let them catch you!" And there's a difference. Certainly none of them are thinking of any measure of responsibility - because they did something IN THE FIRST PLACE that was bad enough to get cops chasing them. The actual fleeing is NOT something they're ever second-guessing once they've started to run. They never have someone in the car next to them saying, "Dude, you need to stop because every SECOND you push this only makes it worse. CUT YOUR LOSSES you idiot." I lived for 20 years in the LA area which is the car chase capitol of the WORLD. There are apps that will alert you to ongoing chases not just in the LA area but nationwide so you can tune in and watch news choppers stream it. They may not release all the dash-cam and body-cam recordings, but the news channels will gladly let you watch their raw chopper footage in short order, and it may actually be better because you see wider and more stable views.

That is called shock... His first reaction was to try to get upright after being thrown out.. Which is just a brain reaction... And depending how bad he could have been hurt, also possibly very bad for him. Especially with a concussion.
These officers have so much to balance with split-second decisions that could mean life or death for them or others. They don't know who they are dealing with, why, and if the suspects are armed, all the while trying to keep the rest of the public safe while trying to bring the pursuit to a reasonable end. Then it starts all over again in getting these unknown quantities out of the pitted or crashed car, making sure they don't flee, shoot at you, or do something else bizarre. The way that this particular Trooper shifted over, anchored down, and confidently consoled that young kid was amazing. Some people are born and bred for law enforcement.

As a mom of 4, youngest will be turning 19, I guarantee when that 14 yr old boy gets home his momma is gonna whoop his behind! Then she is gonna have a go at that drivers momma for raising such an a55hole for a son and sueing them to pay for the medical bills. My daughter's car is in my name, no drugs, no drinking, no sex and no friends allowed in the car. She breaks that rule and I take the keys, she can walk to school.

What this officer is doing is paramount. He recognizes the kid is upset and consoles him and when he learns he just turned 14 he really tries to calm him down. It’s important he treats him like a kid because he still is one and he just got tossed from a car which is scary as hell. I think his actions were really awesome. Especially with white cops and black teenagers and the stuff that goes on. He treats him with respect and kindness. All cops need to do that. I commend you for your police work. It even sounded like he was going to go with the kid to the hospital. If you can make an impression on a kid growing up and turn a bad situation into a positive one, take that chance like he did.
Out of ALL the high-speed chases I have seen out of Arkansas this is the ONLY ONE where a light pole stopped the vehicle that was being chased BEFORE the cops did....#FACTS💯

@Gunga Ding it’s actually at Kelley HWY not Grand. None of the SUV’s were FSPD, they were all ASP. FSPD has had a long standing reputation for not assisting in pursuits, or at least did when I worked in the area.
These Troopers did just an excellent job here…again! After the pit, their approach to the damaged vehicle couldn’t have been better. They had zero tolerance for any BS from the occupants and kept things cool.

Trooper Elmore is the slooooowest trooper on the road. He will keep back a mile or a half mile behind, just waiting for the right moment. After the accident, it clearly shows the compassion the Troopers tended towards the injured. A back seat passenger at 14 yrs. of age striking a power pole in half and ejected from a vehicle with just a cut on your head is short of a miracle, you're lucky to be alive and standing.
As a father of 2 kids that turned out ok, my question is--did the parents of these kids have no idea of who their children were running around with--or did they even care? Who's destroyed car is this? The bottom line here--you wanna play--you gonna pay!

Awesome how that Arkansas Trooper went from badass LEO to a comforting de-escalator after the situation was put under control. That officer knows how to do his job. The kid that was thrown from the SUV is lucky to be alive and I suspect he evaluates who he associates with after this.
This was probably the most somber PIT I've witnessed here. Things could have gone so much worse. I'm also impressed at the compassion the officer showed the juvenile once the dust started to settle.
I am sure that the parents of the kid that was driving will be thrilled that their nice SUV is now not only the subject of a criminal investigation but totaled.

I was a paramedic a lifetime ago. I've seen the unlucky ones who were ejected... its not a pretty sight. The only lucky ones I ever saw in my career only survived because they were drunk.

That was a great example of the compassion that the trooper was able to show the 14yr old that was ejected to keep him calm and soothing assurance of the outcome that he was going to be okay! I live in Arkansas and have had state troopers pull me over when they do flip the blues I pull over and encounter some of the nicest law enforcement officers I've ever met.
I had a gf who's dad was a state trooper. He was pretty nice after a few months.

Some might say the officers are being too rough on the kids, however, they are teaching those kids a life lesson so hopefully they won't try anything like that again. Small critique as a military veteran trained in combat lifesaving: When a dangerous hazard exists, make sure everyone is aware of it as soon as possible. Power lines may re-energize at any moment without warning. Also, if aomeone has a head injury and has fallen/been thrown, DO NOT MOVE THEM. Keep them immobilized as much as possible until medics arrive. I appreciate him trying to put the kid at ease but he needed to stay where he was until they could get a cervical collar on him and secure him to a backboard.

I love how the cops are like “you drop your hands and I will shoot the fu** outta you” to “you’re alright, I know it’s scary but you’re going to be okay”. I hope that young boy chooses better friends then these little punks who think it’s a joke to steal a car and put innocent lives in danger. The amount of videos I’ve seen of ASP boggles my mind when these punks think they can outrun from ASP.
When that flight response kicks in they WILL NOT STOP. They don't even SEE risks. They just want to stay free even a few moments more. In A FEW cases they might actually get away, but none of them are ever actually thinking they're "getting away". They're just thinking, "RUN! Don't let them catch you!" And there's a difference. Certainly none of them are thinking of any measure of responsibility - because they did something IN THE FIRST PLACE that was bad enough to get cops chasing them. The actual fleeing is NOT something they're ever second-guessing once they've started to run. They never have someone in the car next to them saying, "Dude, you need to stop because every SECOND you push this only makes it worse. CUT YOUR LOSSES you idiot."
I lived for 20 years in the LA area which is the car chase capitol of the WORLD. There are apps that will alert you to ongoing chases not just in the LA area but nationwide so you can tune in and watch news choppers stream it. They may not release all the dash-cam and body-cam recordings, but the news channels will gladly let you watch their raw chopper footage in short order, and it may actually be better because you see wider and more stable views.

These officers have so much to balance with split-second decisions that could mean life or death for them or others. They don't know who they are dealing with, why, and if the suspects are armed, all the while trying to keep the rest of the public safe while trying to bring the pursuit to a reasonable end. Then it starts all over again in getting these unknown quantities out of the pitted or crashed car, making sure they don't flee, shoot at you, or do something else bizarre. The way that this particular Trooper shifted over, anchored down, and confidently consoled that young kid was amazing. Some people are born and bred for law enforcement.

As a mom of 4, youngest will be turning 19, I guarantee when that 14 yr old boy gets home his momma is gonna whoop his behind! Then she is gonna have a go at that drivers momma for raising such an a55hole for a son and sueing them to pay for the medical bills. My daughter's car is in my name, no drugs, no drinking, no sex and no friends allowed in the car. She breaks that rule and I take the keys, she can walk to school.

What this officer is doing is paramount. He recognizes the kid is upset and consoles him and when he learns he just turned 14 he really tries to calm him down. It’s important he treats him like a kid because he still is one and he just got tossed from a car which is scary as hell. I think his actions were really awesome. Especially with white cops and black teenagers and the stuff that goes on. He treats him with respect and kindness. All cops need to do that. I commend you for your police work. It even sounded like he was going to go with the kid to the hospital. If you can make an impression on a kid growing up and turn a bad situation into a positive one, take that chance like he did.

@Gunga Ding it’s actually at Kelley HWY not Grand. None of the SUV’s were FSPD, they were all ASP. FSPD has had a long standing reputation for not assisting in pursuits, or at least did when I worked in the area.

These Troopers did just an excellent job here…again! After the pit, their approach to the damaged vehicle couldn’t have been better. They had zero tolerance for any BS from the occupants and kept things cool.

Trooper Elmore is the slooooowest trooper on the road. He will keep back a mile or a half mile behind, just waiting for the right moment. After the accident, it clearly shows the compassion the Troopers tended towards the injured. A back seat passenger at 14 yrs. of age striking a power pole in half and ejected from a vehicle with just a cut on your head is short of a miracle, you're lucky to be alive and standing.
