I remember singing this show in an Impromptu family talent in the 70's. This brings back fond memories of grandparents, aunts, and uncles that have passed.
Which is why I love this song, I grew up walking in the rain just so I could ~ It brings back some moments of both pain and joy ~ I miss those days. They meant so much more than these days ~ ///=^} ~
The first time I saw my dad cry was when his dad passed away 22 years ago. I remember him sitting on the porch drinking a Colt 45 and listening to this song while crying to himself, I noticed and sat down next to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek told him I love him then went back in the house to give him his space to grieve, I was 10 years old back then. My dad passed away 5 years ago I miss him every day.
I first heard this song when I was 14, met the girl who would be my wife a year later, and married 5 years later still. We've been married for 40 years now, and I still sing this to her. It was also the first album I bought with my own wages at age 18. Takes me back every time, and I fall in love with her all over again!
Not to sound condescending in any way however, the simple answer would be because you were raised right.. keep searching keep listening! Best to grandma!!

I was twelve when it hit the airwaves and my sister would play it on that little blue one speaker stereo and hold her gown and sing and dance like she was with someone.
I'm 66 now. Way back in the day when I was a teenager, my dad and I would camp out on the river all night and jug and trot line fish for catfish.. I had a little portable radio and would listen to this song in the wee hours while waiting for the fish to bite. Memories that can never be replaced. I miss those days so much

Nobody was calling each other negga this or negga that because we knew the meaning of this word and the racism connected to the word negga ! Actually, back in the 60s, 70s, using the N word was totally acceptable in all families. It was a word used as a familiar description, not a negative. I.E., "did you hear about that n word that got 86xt from the bar?" Then they say the name of the N word person! Utilizing the N Word amongst Black people is relative to our culture, and has nothing to do with white people evaluating how or why we say it, or if it's acceptable for white people to say it. ITS NOT. It's none of your business why Black people freely call each other or use the N word. That's Black folks business. Not yours. It's become tiresome explaining to white people.

M. Smith, Is this my Ebony, frm Harlem, N.Y. ?
This song has so much heart and soul. I listen to it when I'm sad and feel like crying, ironically. Pain keeps your heart strong.
Xoxo
Born on the wrong generation.

I used to play this record when it was new. A true classic. ❤
Great music doesn't age.
A meditative, almost out-of-body experience listening to this song while it's actually raining and you're by yourself.
Always have loved "the rain" songs. 💌 and the Dramatic's version is #1
The Dramatic Behind The Mic is WeeGee, with his unmistakable gift and passion. We, WeeGee’s family thank you all for still enjoying what is now classified as a “legacy recording”. Still being enjoyed since crashing onto the charts!! William would be honored, as are we at DBTM. ENJOY!!! 🎼🎤
This song makes me feel better even when I'm not happy. It changes my mood every time.
If ppl would quit being caught up in the things, and matters of the material world, then love can become more abundant for all. May Love, Truth, Light, and The Way be with you all.. All praises be to Yahushuah!!!
