All the advances in efficiency have gone to make cars larger. Taller and wider cars create more wind resistance by default and therefore consume more fuel. To top it all off, the cars don't even have a lot more usable space in them. If you compare this to a Golf from lets say 2008, this is from a completely different size class being 26.6 cm longer and 6.2 cm wider.

🤗 I really like the design and the size of the car. Clean design and the right size. Btw, the fake exhaust and black piano trim together with the capacitive buttons I consider these being the...let's say less inspired features on a car.
More Pro's in my opinio: physical buttons on the steeering wheel, A/C, and infotainment, virtual cockpit screen easy to read and use, infotainment screen being placed in the right position (spot), intuitive software (classical and responsive), the interior space more that enough for people below 1.8m. The engine, I have it on my car, therefore, no surprise to me...for a regular use (city or highways) it is an absolutelly decent engine having decent fuel consumption.
Conculsion: I would buy such car in this very trim and color.
Thank you Thomas and Autogefühl team for making my day, presenting a normal car I like! 👍
    PS
Too bad that it won't be sold in Europe. I know...we have Ateca or Karoq, but I do like this design more that the 2 cars indicated above. T-Roc...well it's not my type, Tiguan, I have one already and I have no complaint at all, but actually, Taos would be more a car for my needs.

Regarding VW reliability, our family has had overall decent experience. The worst we had was a water pump leaking on a Tiguan (1.4 TSI twin-charged) after about 10 years of use. The other cars have been absolutely flawless, including a Polo 6R, which we had for over 10 years before selling it. Our current family car is a T-Roc, with the same 1.5 TSI motor as this Taos, and it's an absolute cracker of a car. The engine is not a power-house (as standard - easily rectified), but it pulls really nicely from low revs and the fuel economy cannot be disputed. What I like most about our VW's is that they do so many things "right" - ergonomics, road-holding, handling, visibility and usability. Coming from some other brands in the past it was a bit of a shock to discover how well they drive, I didn't expect it... Needless to say, I'm a fan now.

About he Taos. When it was first released here, it was supposed to be a step below the Tiguan. But what happens now is that the Tiguan is no longer being sold here and this VW Taos is more expensive to buy than a Tiguan.

Servus, Thomas! Bin amerikanischer VW/Audi/Porsche Liebhaber.
