The reason why this was a blockbuster was a) There is every component which any filmgoer will love to watch in a movie like good music, fights, good dance moves, very good fun element & good performances by everyone b) The way the director treated a very thin line subject. If you look at overall story, its a typical mass masala movie.. but the greatness of the director lies how to convince & make them sit for 2 hours 15 minutes for a simple script, by incorporating all the points (mentioned in point a).. The greatness of the director lies, where we want to have a song, where the comedy element should be there etc., c)Picking the correct technicians and actors... Imagine, if the music was done by someother thank Chakri.. "maybe" it wouldnt been as a great musical hit as it is. Imagine someone (who was already an established actress) in the role of Hansika .. Maybe, the beauty or innocence wouldnt have added to the spice.. Hansika was apt for this role.. Well.. what about Allu Arjun.. I cant imagine anyone doing this role except AA .. He has brought lot of energy (be it to the dance or fights or be it his comic timing).. Similarly, Ramaprabha, Ali, Shakuntala & so on.. Everyone was apt to their roles. d) Last but not the least, ITS PURI'S MAGIC .. He was in such a prime where whatever he has touched was gold .. Be it consecutive hits with Ravi teja .. and now with AA .. This movie exactly suits a saying in english "EVERYTHING HAS FALLEN INTO ITS PLACE" I loved watching this movie in Sudarshan 70 MM (Hyderabad) .. Wow, that sound system.. that chilling a/c made an excellent treat to watch this movie.
A great analysis. This type of movie has proven time and again that a movie does not need to be ultra high budget or ultra high fantasy or ultra high level of vfx/set designs to become a hit. Even a simple story and lesser budgets can work wonders, as long as it can connect with the audience.
