And if you move the boom, then it is going to be static, If you are going to drive around then the copper plate to pretty elaborate. I am constantly amazed, I have three of these on the build shelf. Good work. I was very disappointed. I thought you were going to make a DCC-controlled fully working winch that turns with sounds you recorded live. You got power, put some red danger lights that flash.

I've got something up my sleeve.... this build tests the power pickup and auto reversing designs, but this thing I'm going to show you next is going to involve motors!
I couldn’t tell if that wire is insulated. If you need bendable, insulated wire in small gauges you can get solid core wire from PowerWerx. Multiple AWG available, multiple spool lengths, and various insulation colors. Great stuff. I use 22 AWG for feeder drops. Solders easily to rail. 18 AWG down to 26 AWG. wkg
yes, the wire is copper jewelry making wire from Joann Fabrics. it's bendable and holds a shape that is strong enough to support itself and all the pieces added to it... this technique is something that I'm going to apply to structures and should be really cool
Have you thought of powering the winch drums along with the lighting ? Would be super cool to have an operating wreck crane. I would but I lack the electrical knowledge. Cool build . I suggest styrene tube & rod for diesel exhaust. God bless.
Everytime I watch your crane builds I think about power winches- this is the warm up build....I have a decoder that will let me have 2 winches and lights. If I use 2 decoders I can have mobility, rotation, lights, 2 winches and an electromagnet!!
this is the beginning... each crane will get more and more sophisticated as we go.... I have to figure out how to get more power for the magnet, like super power
