    Shane drops a Sanford & Son reference @2:43 “that’s mighty white of you”, which makes sense because @24:56 he mentions that he grew up as “a poor black child”. Comedy gold! IDK how, but Mike did a great job keeping this podcast on the rails! 👍

    Bravo Gentleman! Great episode full of comradely for which this civilian asshat enjoyed. Clint’s first episode on Mike Drop was good but is nice to hear how Mike has continued to out perform with each new podcast. (Face for radio) Love to see I’m not the only one who uses the post it notes and highlighter. Quality cast, humor, stories and Americans. Well done! Will definitely move Clint’s latest book from the “want to read” into the library. Will definitely see if Shane has any blades where I cant stab myself every other week. Quality workmanship!

  • @dowth3
    @dowth3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Wowsa. I feel a bit voyeuristic listening to this podcast, but feel fortunate to have done so. How impressive that a trio of badasses can have the wisdom to know that:
    a) a heavy-handed approach with regard to kids/dogs is sometimes the right approach and sometimes very much not (a pro-kid vs a pro-theory approach);
    b) "even in the kicking of asses, you're gonna have some losses" (a pro-soldier/soldier's family vs pro-military machine mentality); and
    c) the takeaway from The Right Kind of Crazy is exactly the price of service as felt by the warrior and the warrior's family (the whole truth vs delusion).
    As a couples and family therapist honored to work with military families at all stages of deployment for 30+ years, I couldn't agree more about how the energy of that lifestyle (particularly SF) doesn't just stop because active duty stops. I wish there was a way to get that info out there to more folks so that they could go into this lifestyle more prepared for that reality! Our warriors' families *need and deserve* to be prepared to ride that wave successfully and with relationships intact. It's criminal to me that they're not given the tools at the highest levels to do that with their eyes wide open. Also couldn't agree more with Shane's comment that Mike is a great interviewer (and these guys didn't make it any easier on him!), mostly I'd say because he's a good listener. This was a gift to watch. Thank you, gentlemen to you and your families for the spoken and unspoken sacrifices you've made for our freedom!

      xop23 Spot on observation and absolute listening skills to you! As difficult as it is for the transition of the Veteran, the family has no idea what the best approach is once the soldiers suddenly become civilians. On more extreme cases, make that soldier a SOF guy and the waters are muddied tri-fold ! Without exception, we MUST make changes pre and post enlistment for these men and women to decompress and include family to understand and recognize the changes in our Vets when they return from war fighting. This has been earned by both factions, there should be no monetary debate to costs or time. Give the men, women, wives and husbands an opportunity to transition with the help and guidance they need. It’s no different than any civilian assistance. Actually, more emphasis should be directed to our Veterans regardless. Thank you
