@Asiwir, the original had the nature photography minigame, where you basically went round shoving cameras in everyone's face being all "OOH! NOT SEEN YOUR HERITAGE ROUND HERE BEFORE". I remember finally getting access to this top secret rebel base where everyone's hiding from the police state, and my Jade strutted up with her camera being all "don't mind me gonna take a few snaphots and send them off for a few bob because catwoman"
I'm in the same boat. I have learned too many times to not get my hopes up too much or be let down. I loved Beyond Good and Evil and was sad it wasn't as popular as I would have liked, but this game does look cool. I like the idea of creating my own character and having different types to choose from. Hopefully they take the time to work on it and make it awesome. We waited this long

I was really excited about BGaE2. Then I watched this video, saw it was Multiplayer, and remembered that it's not the Ubisoft of 2003 making this game... : (
"Destiny is your closest comparison"... And that's when you lost me. A game where most of the content is multiplayer locked is not something I want to dive into.
Outside Xbox made this comparison. Not the developers. This is not being sold as a Multiplayer game. That was Destiny's mistake. It sold itself as an MMO. This is trying to be something different. I highly doubt there will be random weapon drops and dungeons with bosses in this game. The most Ancel has said so far is related to simple exploration with friends and sharing of the photography mechanic. I highly doubt this will be sold as an MMO.
PlotlinePlus I honestly have no beef with dungeons and bosses and loot drops and even rng. The biggest problem with destiny was the simple fact that you couldn't even attempt most of the things without going into the multiplayer. See this cool strike thingy? Well you NEED 3 more buddies to even try that. Yeah, we know that you potentially could finish it alone. And we could let you try and do that... But nope. You have to be in multiplayer non the less. And that's just awful. If your game is build around multiplayer - it is okey. It's cool. People've been waiting for that kind of game for a good amount of time. But tell it to us face first. Which destiny did not. It had the audacity to preach about its innovative genre fusion (it was not, they carbon copied the borderlands, good job), never telling people that they won't be able to access most of the ingame content unless they already have a group to go in to the game with. Couse surprise not only there is no notion of multiplayer lock, there is no ingame mean of communication with people in the same lobby. Warframe is a free to play game which doesnt even need any kind of bullshit subscription, but still it had all the instruments for people to talk to each other without any outside meddling like "lfg" sites from the very beginning.
Psih Opat EXACTLY! That's the main reason I stopped playing Destiny. I don't mind a developer designing level difficulty to encourage teamwork amongst a player base, but don't make it a prerequisite to play the levels. I rather enjoyed the challenge of making my way through the levels by myself and figuring out the best way to handle powerful enemies and large groups of enemies without help. I would probably have enjoyed playing with my friends, but I didn't know anybody who had the game to play with and playing cooperatively with strangers is difficult enough when you're in the same room. Trying to play effectively with people I don't know with limited communication abilities is just not something that appeals to me. I hope Ubisoft takes these issues into account and doesn't force multiplayer on those who don't desire it for whatever reason.
I'm so excited for the game but I do have a few concerns so far.... First off, I think that the original BG&E was such a cult classic because it had a few things going for it: 1. Expansive (for such a mediocre system it was released on, the game had generally so much to do in it! It wasn't just a one trick pony, there were multiple aspects to it like action sequences, stealth missions, nice combat, exploration, optional missions, diologue and chat sequences, puzzles, mini games, shopping, races. JUST SUCH AN EXPANSE OF CONTENT.) And I definitely see BG&E2 being expansive obviously from what we were shown which is awesome!!! I just hope that the extreme, ambitious features for this one doesn't make the game feel smaller in comparison. 2. SIMPLICITY (okay this one, im a bit worried about). In the original game, while there was a lot to do and a lot of variety within the game itself, but overall it stayed pretty linear and story driven. I genuinely think that's what I loved about BG&E as a kid, that there was a lot of action and adventure within it, but it was dramatically focused on the story and was very cinematic. Now, I'm pretty worried that Michel Ancel is leaning towards multiplayer and has given a lot of info on that aspect but hasn't nearly been informing us on the actual storyline. It's almost like it's being talked about like it will be an MMORPG and honestly, that doesn't really appeal tome. The original game was so great because it was a cinematic experience that you experienced single player in which you bonded with the characters through linear missions. Talks of side missions and building up character levels have me really concerned of just the overall game itself. I don't want the story to take a backseat, I was hoping for it to be one of the biggest aspects of the new game. I mean honestly, if the team does pull it off and executes it well, I'm down! But if they are worrying about making this prequel so much about multiplayer, I'm truly hoping that it's optional in some form or way because I just want to play my game without worrying about other players ruining the experience. 3. Characters!!!!! Okay so realistically, this one is probably gonna be the biggest worry of mine until the game comes out. From what we've seen, you're going to apparently customize your own character, which sounds pretty cool actually. BUT, with this, comes a lack of a certain flare the old game had. I'm down for having new characters, especially one that the player creates, but this also takes away a little bit of the charm of it. BG&E had some of the best character interactions, chemistry, and arcs so I'm hoping that they really execute this character customization thing well so that even if they are created, they still feel completely and 100% authentic and blend in with the rest of the characters. I'm not even 100% speaking about the roles, but the features and game mechanics to help this: voice acting (will the character have a voice actor and not just silent 24/7, nothing pulls me out of the immersion more than a silent protag), will our character truly bond with the other members in our crew (interactions, writing, the sentimental feel like the first one had). I have a lot riding on this prequel but I'm also very concerned with the direction that Michel is heading in. But, I have faith, that Michel can make a masterpiece. He has done it before. Only time can tell.
I hope its not No Man Sky 2, they promisse alot and bring nothing. Or Battlefront2 half of the game is in lootboxes randomly Or better not Destany 2 , borring endgame and make the game easy fornew Players, means no random stats on weapons etc. low Personalization without Real Money. I Hope its a good Free game with DLC's (past 4 months pls) Like Borderlands ( no Online Required ). I wanna work 4 a game and dont wanna buy the half with microtransactions, pls dont make that misstake.

it's been over 10 years since they came out with the first game. they have to change the game up alittle to fit the times and the gamers. it's a prequel it's a lead up to the original like George lucas did in star wars, I love it.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I never wanted a BG&E follow-up that was "massively ambitious", I just wanted a continuation of the story with the characters I enjoyed. It looks and sounds like a good game, I just wish they were making a new franchise to experiment with this idea rather than using an old IP that should have had a proper, simple sequel years ago. I'm willing to bet there won't be a fun wildlife photography mechanic either...

I wish i had the following of the story of Jade and Pey'J with his infection at the end of bge credits... Even with the same graphics as bge, they're very good looking for a 13 years old game. Is it just me or does this *really* sound like a scaled down version of No Mans Sky's press release with quests and 'pirates'? Space Dogfights, check, Filled universe with other peoples characters, check, No loading screens, check, Destructible unique environments inhabited by different races, check; really the only thing that seems missing is scale and procedural generation. I mean on the plus side Ubisoft has the resources to pull it off, on the down side it's Ubisoft, they'll find a way to muck it up.

I'm judging the trailer and the 8 things, BGaE is a game I love and It seems they took the gameplay elements I liked about the original game and replaced them with something different. I expect the game will be very good but it won't be a similar experience.

From my understanding this game has absolutely nothing to do with the first game pretty much, it's basically a whole new game that carries over not even a handful of concepts.
Well the best things of BG&E1 should also be in this new game. I think the only major things that won't be in it are these large Zelda-dungeon like buildings.
I'd say it's an expansion on the universe of the first, at least from what's shown in this video. Of course, the tech wasn't advanced enough when the original came out for this huge open world and all the new shinies, and I think it's pretty clear that the vase gameplay will be vastly different, but I'm pretty sure they'll work in more tie-ins like the ones already shown.
It was a pen name used to hide Jade's actual identity. It came from the code name of her mother who, in turn, used it as homage to 'a friend'. The women with green eyes is most likely not Jade's grandmother, but her actual mother and the black girl is her mother's friend who originally had the name.
We already know half of the promises wont be kept and if it ever gets released many other games will offer the same features just better and less micro transactions. I can see the long list of bandanas for 4.99$ each, a pirate grappling hook 12.99$ or a hover bike for 47.99$.

I will be satisfied as long as there is a nice camera mechanic, mini-games, and a significant Jade mention, despite taking place years before the first frame. I was actually really curious about the backstory of everything while playing BG&E so I hope having a prequel will address it.

Well to be fair, it was going to be a strait forward sequel in it's early stages. But hear me out. It is known that the creator of the original game had a much more ambitious idea when he created the first Beyond Good and Evil. But the Technology couldn't support it; so a simpler, but still quite ambitious in own way, game was made instead. Cut to the first attempt at a sequel. That game was going to be a strait continuation that had a few more of the features that they wanted in the first installment, namely the space-travel mechanic, but the tech wasn't favorable to what they we're going for. So they held off on it and kept tinkering with it on the side while they worked on other projects such as the newer Rayman titles. Now considering just how ambitious what they're planning to do is, and realizing that the first installment is quite loved by fans. It makes sense that they'd want to try this out in a way that doesn't risk ruining what fans loved about the first game. Putting it all in a prequel FIRST, means that they can test the waters and see how receptive fans are before they try to do the same the same thing again with the characters and concepts that they left on a cliffhanger. This a, in hindsight, says nothing that challenges your statement. But I would like this to be said anyway, so there.
Same, lately Ubisoft likes to add a needless multiplayer element with silly gimmicks to their games and it screws with the whole experience. Hope it doesn't this time but... is it Ubisoft.

hold on, this is all well and good, but since this is supposedly n online multiplayer game, can you actually play it JUST in single player if your connection is bad or is the typical DRM stuff gonna cock this up like usual?
"You start from the very bottom" and "It's nowhere near finished" are really good aspects of this game. The first one is never bad, in my opinion, and i can accept the latter, when it comes to a new BGE title. I can wait, no pressure.
If you ignore the fact that this could've been a sequel to BGE, this game actually sounds really amazing, and I'm glad they're taking their time with this. Also where does that in engine footage come from? I missed that during the E3.
Just think of the all the shit in beyond good and evil lacking a proper backstory that was just thrown at us from the get go that we can actually see evolve from the beginning, and perhaps the events leading to jade ending up on hillys with peyj. that all has the potential to be explored here.
Personally, the first Beyond Good & Evil game captivated me. I felt like I knew the characters on a personal level, the game was beautiful in both its appearance and story. It got darker and darker the more you followed along with the story, but that was perfectly complimented with the beautiful atmosphere it offered when transitioning between each different level, whether it be looking for pearls in a cave, or flying around the ocean just for a reason to listen to that piano soundtrack. I want this game to deliver that same feeling. I'm so scared for this game, I don't want to be disappointed after waiting 10 years for this. But on the their hand I'm really excited, I want to see where Jade came from, I want to know the history behind her parents, what happened to them? How did Pey'j and Jade end up on Hillys? Are we going to see the same interaction with wildlife? Will there still be that element of searching for the next rare species? I have so many questions. Please Ubisoft, don't mess this up for us.

I was just watching a best cinematic trailers video and then this came up, the last time I played the first game was about 7 years ago. I saw the trailer and then my face lit up, I am super excited for this game.
The first beyond good and evil was brilliant. I have very good childhood memories of it and it has always reminded one of my favourite all time games. Cant wait to see the new game❤️
Wasn't too interested when I saw the cinematic trailer, but upon seeing actual gameplay I'm intrigued. Definitely going to keep an eye out for it. It'll definitely be a console buy for me, though, something that graphically intensive isn't going to run on my mediocre PC.
When you're this ambitious you end up with Spore or No mans sky. Beyond good and evil is a classic that I adore and this is a completely different tone shift.
Gio Barcarolo He is talking about how spore had so much more promised before release like a stage in between cell and creature that you could swim around in the sea. Also at civilization stage you could create underwater cities. There was a lot of stuff promised with that game that never ended up getting released.

Drifting in air isn't against physics, really, it's actually fairly accurate. When a plane turns sharply in the air, it's momentum continues to carry it in it's original direction of travel before the drag from the wind and the pull of the propeller or push of the jet, change it's velocity towards a new direction. Basically, when a plane is in a situation where it has to make hard turns, such as a dogfight, the plane will be "drifting" in every turn. It's much like a car making a hard turn, but with even less traction. I play a good many flight sims, and you initially don't expect things to feel so slidey when you're a newb and just starting to learn how to play them. Of course, it doesn't really matter, since there doesn't seem to be any aerodynamics on the craft in BGE2, they just seem to magically float. So, as long as it's "video game believable" and fun, I guess.
Everything sounds and looks amazing! You get to customise your character and travel to different gorgeous places on a badass spaceship, I don't mind a few years wait if it's gonna be that good:D
If anyone could pull this off, it's Michel Ancel. Plus they already have the engine. Everything they've said the game can do, can already been done. For something like this, delivering on your base promises is half the battle(cough No Man's Sky cough). Now's just filling it up.

Game devs, we need to chat. Do you think players can't explore vast open worlds good enough on our own? Do you think that anything larger than roughly 10km^2 (which is closer to five due to bottomless pits or unclimbable mountains taking up the terrain) won't be seen well enough by one player? This genre is all about exploration, something I did just fine on my own through countless hours and games. But when you add a multiplayer focus, lone wolves like myself either never give it a chance or stop playing. There is too much of an advantage for large crews over a lone wolf or a small crew (2-3) that only plays here and there. A game I was really excited for now has to be thrown off my list because I know I won't keep up. I'd play for a week or even two, get burned out on it, go play something else, and be too scared of being so out classed that I never pick it up again. Reason I dropped Warframe, Battlefield 1, Halo MP, GoI, Fractured Space, and Guild Wars 2 (I had one buddy I played with who out grew me and so it's a pain for him to drop to my scrub level and that was when I was enjoying myself). We are gamers. You give us a map the size of a planet and we'll find every cave, every rock with loot under it, and every npc with a side quest for us to bring back 2.8 billion of something on our own. And then we'll look at you, smile, and ask to do it again somewhere else. Signed,A guy who has put up with too many assholes in games.
Jacob Davis I'm almost certain that you can play alone (it's not an mmo) the only multiplayer feature is having your crew have real players, which considering the fact that you can have an AI crew makes it just a small thing you can do if you want to play with a friend, or make friends. I also don't think there'll be a leveling system so the only way someone can be better a "higher level" is if they had more hearts, items (restorative ones) or things like the jetpack, which from what I know, you only get a crew when you have a big ship
I'm only a little bit salty that we don't get to know what happens to a certain character. You know-- with that HUGE cliffhanger and all...All that for this to just be a prequel. I'm upset, but I can't condemn it entirely just yet. I'll wait until it's much closer to release and hold off my full judgment until I can really get a proper grasp of what this exactly is and what it means. For all I know, it might sum some things up and give us a picture of what WOULD be next to come. I'll try to stay optimistic.

Ok I understand the story. The pirates are searching a kind of antic gate hidden somewhere in the galaxy, they will succeed to open it at the end, and that's how the Domz invasion begin. The artifact is just a portal gate who lead where Domz are living. The "ark" has the same architecture than the moon base in BGE1.
And I think I'm paranoid for that, but if you look the corpse floating in the space, we can see a thing under his neck in his chest, like a Domz pimple. Furthermore, the human girl at the end is Jade's mother. When she opened the gate, that make a links between her and the Domz chief, that's why Jade as a link with the Domz in BGE1
Honestly, the last fact was probably the best. This was probably the best looking game at E3 2017 and one of the most ambitious games I've ever seen. And even despite it not looking like the type of game I'd normally play, I am incredibly excited for it. The fact that it's not even half way done fills me with hope that this won't be another disappointment. But what really made me interested was the fact that you could make your own character. Yeah, the monkey is great but he's the polar opposite of my personality so I'm glad that I can have a proper projection of myself in this hopefully amazing world. Probably half rabbit or something like that though because plain humans are boring.
Wouldn't say it's the most ambitious game, but definitely up there alongside others with the same ambitions of going from walking around small environments to flying between planets without loading screens - No Man's Sky, Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen, have this "ambition" to pull of that crazy shit.
I had the first one on gamecube and still do. Its my favorite game of all time by far, I'm excited for the second one but a little disappointed that it wont be a sequel
the ambition is what worries me, over ambitiousness is what caused the cancellation of the previous version of the sequel which had Jade as the main character (you can find an old CGI E3 reveal on here somewhere), I hope this version actually makes it into peoples homes
Game expected to come out around 2019-2020. They will of had 12 years to make this game, my expectations are high, as people speculate the next ps console (ps5) will be out by then. (not comparing pc hardware for obvious reasons) By that time with probably a next gen system idk why people WOULDN'T expect all game companies to get this ambitious...
I hope they take their time with this. It looks like it could be a masterpiece if they could only make the savviest decisions and not worry about markets or investors. Either way I'll be glad for a cast that's actually got vibrant woc in it.

I'm excited for this game. Also I think it's cool for the story to take place during the conflict between Humans and the Animals cause I think Pey'j mentioned it somewhat during the first game.
In the lates trailer you see the pirate ship caught by a gigantic sip. Everyone waits to see who will board the ship and it's JADE. In the original the only humans were Jade and the enemy. To the best of my recollection .
Not a huge fan of creating my own characters or multiplayer but hopefully the game will be completely playable solo. I'm tentatively excited. The characters they've created seem interesting, at least so far.
I'm personally mostly worried about the create a character thing, I mean I understand that you can create one but my question is how does that work in cutscenes? I mean in the original game, the character you play as, Jade, has a voice so you sort of understand her emotions on a closer level than you do with characters in games where your character doesn't, like most Zelda games, and that makes me think what if our character doesn't speak. AT ALL. That worries me to new limits, because the game won't feel as complete, and it'll make the story worse than it should, so I'm strongly hoping that they do one of the following: have multiple voice options instead of us being able to edit the pitch and such (and then have multiple voice overs done for the cutscenes so that you get the voice you picked), they can have only two voices to pick from so that the male has one and the female has one making the voice acting cheaper for them, or have presets for the characters instead of having detailed voices for different species

I'm hesitant about this, but I really want it to be good. My main concern are the mmo aspects, and how much the story fits with the universe of the game. The mmo aspects, because stories in mmo's tend to be not as fleshed out and definitely not as player interactive, and the story, because from the look of things, we aren't getting much anything from the first game except for Peyj and Jade, and even then I think they aren't going to make much sense timeline wise. I mean, think about it... from how the story in the first game went, the Domz should be pretty much the main focus of the inhabited universe, yet they are nowhere to be seen. Wouldn't it have made more sense for us to play as Iris network agents rather than space pirates?

This is not being sold as a Multiplayer game. That was Destiny's mistake. It sold itself as an MMO.
This is trying to be something different. I highly doubt there will be random weapon drops and dungeons with bosses in this game.
The most Ancel has said so far is related to simple exploration with friends and sharing of the photography mechanic. I highly doubt this will be sold as an MMO.
PlotlinePlus I honestly have no beef with dungeons and bosses and loot drops and even rng. The biggest problem with destiny was the simple fact that you couldn't even attempt most of the things without going into the multiplayer.
See this cool strike thingy? Well you NEED 3 more buddies to even try that. Yeah, we know that you potentially could finish it alone. And we could let you try and do that... But nope. You have to be in multiplayer non the less. And that's just awful.
If your game is build around multiplayer - it is okey. It's cool. People've been waiting for that kind of game for a good amount of time. But tell it to us face first. Which destiny did not. It had the audacity to preach about its innovative genre fusion (it was not, they carbon copied the borderlands, good job), never telling people that they won't be able to access most of the ingame content unless they already have a group to go in to the game with. Couse surprise not only there is no notion of multiplayer lock, there is no ingame mean of communication with people in the same lobby.
Warframe is a free to play game which doesnt even need any kind of bullshit subscription, but still it had all the instruments for people to talk to each other without any outside meddling like "lfg" sites from the very beginning.
Psih Opat EXACTLY! That's the main reason I stopped playing Destiny. I don't mind a developer designing level difficulty to encourage teamwork amongst a player base, but don't make it a prerequisite to play the levels. I rather enjoyed the challenge of making my way through the levels by myself and figuring out the best way to handle powerful enemies and large groups of enemies without help. I would probably have enjoyed playing with my friends, but I didn't know anybody who had the game to play with and playing cooperatively with strangers is difficult enough when you're in the same room. Trying to play effectively with people I don't know with limited communication abilities is just not something that appeals to me. I hope Ubisoft takes these issues into account and doesn't force multiplayer on those who don't desire it for whatever reason.

I'm so excited for the game but I do have a few concerns so far.... First off, I think that the original BG&E was such a cult classic because it had a few things going for it:
1. Expansive (for such a mediocre system it was released on, the game had generally so much to do in it! It wasn't just a one trick pony, there were multiple aspects to it like action sequences, stealth missions, nice combat, exploration, optional missions, diologue and chat sequences, puzzles, mini games, shopping, races. JUST SUCH AN EXPANSE OF CONTENT.) And I definitely see BG&E2 being expansive obviously from what we were shown which is awesome!!! I just hope that the extreme, ambitious features for this one doesn't make the game feel smaller in comparison.
2. SIMPLICITY (okay this one, im a bit worried about). In the original game, while there was a lot to do and a lot of variety within the game itself, but overall it stayed pretty linear and story driven. I genuinely think that's what I loved about BG&E as a kid, that there was a lot of action and adventure within it, but it was dramatically focused on the story and was very cinematic. Now, I'm pretty worried that Michel Ancel is leaning towards multiplayer and has given a lot of info on that aspect but hasn't nearly been informing us on the actual storyline. It's almost like it's being talked about like it will be an MMORPG and honestly, that doesn't really appeal tome. The original game was so great because it was a cinematic experience that you experienced single player in which you bonded with the characters through linear missions. Talks of side missions and building up character levels have me really concerned of just the overall game itself. I don't want the story to take a backseat, I was hoping for it to be one of the biggest aspects of the new game. I mean honestly, if the team does pull it off and executes it well, I'm down! But if they are worrying about making this prequel so much about multiplayer, I'm truly hoping that it's optional in some form or way because I just want to play my game without worrying about other players ruining the experience.
3. Characters!!!!! Okay so realistically, this one is probably gonna be the biggest worry of mine until the game comes out. From what we've seen, you're going to apparently customize your own character, which sounds pretty cool actually. BUT, with this, comes a lack of a certain flare the old game had. I'm down for having new characters, especially one that the player creates, but this also takes away a little bit of the charm of it. BG&E had some of the best character interactions, chemistry, and arcs so I'm hoping that they really execute this character customization thing well so that even if they are created, they still feel completely and 100% authentic and blend in with the rest of the characters. I'm not even 100% speaking about the roles, but the features and game mechanics to help this: voice acting (will the character have a voice actor and not just silent 24/7, nothing pulls me out of the immersion more than a silent protag), will our character truly bond with the other members in our crew (interactions, writing, the sentimental feel like the first one had).
I have a lot riding on this prequel but I'm also very concerned with the direction that Michel is heading in. But, I have faith, that Michel can make a masterpiece. He has done it before. Only time can tell.

it's been over 10 years since they came out with the first game. they have to change the game up alittle to fit the times and the gamers. it's a prequel it's a lead up to the original like George lucas did in star wars, I love it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I never wanted a BG&E follow-up that was "massively ambitious", I just wanted a continuation of the story with the characters I enjoyed. It looks and sounds like a good game, I just wish they were making a new franchise to experiment with this idea rather than using an old IP that should have had a proper, simple sequel years ago. I'm willing to bet there won't be a fun wildlife photography mechanic either...

I wish i had the following of the story of Jade and Pey'J with his infection at the end of bge credits... Even with the same graphics as bge, they're very good looking for a 13 years old game. I'm excited for this game too but damn...

Is it just me or does this *really* sound like a scaled down version of No Mans Sky's press release with quests and 'pirates'? Space Dogfights, check, Filled universe with other peoples characters, check, No loading screens, check, Destructible unique environments inhabited by different races, check; really the only thing that seems missing is scale and procedural generation.
I mean on the plus side Ubisoft has the resources to pull it off, on the down side it's Ubisoft, they'll find a way to muck it up.

From my understanding this game has absolutely nothing to do with the first game pretty much, it's basically a whole new game that carries over not even a handful of concepts.
Well the best things of BG&E1 should also be in this new game. I think the only major things that won't be in it are these large Zelda-dungeon like buildings.

I'd say it's an expansion on the universe of the first, at least from what's shown in this video. Of course, the tech wasn't advanced enough when the original came out for this huge open world and all the new shinies, and I think it's pretty clear that the vase gameplay will be vastly different, but I'm pretty sure they'll work in more tie-ins like the ones already shown.

It was a pen name used to hide Jade's actual identity. It came from the code name of her mother who, in turn, used it as homage to 'a friend'. The women with green eyes is most likely not Jade's grandmother, but her actual mother and the black girl is her mother's friend who originally had the name.

We already know half of the promises wont be kept and if it ever gets released many other games will offer the same features just better and less micro transactions. I can see the long list of bandanas for 4.99$ each, a pirate grappling hook 12.99$ or a hover bike for 47.99$.

I will be satisfied as long as there is a nice camera mechanic, mini-games, and a significant Jade mention, despite taking place years before the first frame. I was actually really curious about the backstory of everything while playing BG&E so I hope having a prequel will address it.

Well to be fair, it was going to be a strait forward sequel in it's early stages. But hear me out. It is known that the creator of the original game had a much more ambitious idea when he created the first Beyond Good and Evil. But the Technology couldn't support it; so a simpler, but still quite ambitious in own way, game was made instead. Cut to the first attempt at a sequel. That game was going to be a strait continuation that had a few more of the features that they wanted in the first installment, namely the space-travel mechanic, but the tech wasn't favorable to what they we're going for. So they held off on it and kept tinkering with it on the side while they worked on other projects such as the newer Rayman titles.
Now considering just how ambitious what they're planning to do is, and realizing that the first installment is quite loved by fans. It makes sense that they'd want to try this out in a way that doesn't risk ruining what fans loved about the first game. Putting it all in a prequel FIRST, means that they can test the waters and see how receptive fans are before they try to do the same the same thing again with the characters and concepts that they left on a cliffhanger.
This a, in hindsight, says nothing that challenges your statement. But I would like this to be said anyway, so there.

Just think of the all the shit in beyond good and evil lacking a proper backstory that was just thrown at us from the get go that we can actually see evolve from the beginning, and perhaps the events leading to jade ending up on hillys with peyj. that all has the potential to be explored here.

Well it's is a prequel so.
Personally, the first Beyond Good & Evil game captivated me. I felt like I knew the characters on a personal level, the game was beautiful in both its appearance and story. It got darker and darker the more you followed along with the story, but that was perfectly complimented with the beautiful atmosphere it offered when transitioning between each different level, whether it be looking for pearls in a cave, or flying around the ocean just for a reason to listen to that piano soundtrack. I want this game to deliver that same feeling.
I'm so scared for this game, I don't want to be disappointed after waiting 10 years for this. But on the their hand I'm really excited, I want to see where Jade came from, I want to know the history behind her parents, what happened to them? How did Pey'j and Jade end up on Hillys? Are we going to see the same interaction with wildlife? Will there still be that element of searching for the next rare species? I have so many questions.
Please Ubisoft, don't mess this up for us.

Wasn't too interested when I saw the cinematic trailer, but upon seeing actual gameplay I'm intrigued. Definitely going to keep an eye out for it. It'll definitely be a console buy for me, though, something that graphically intensive isn't going to run on my mediocre PC.

Drifting in air isn't against physics, really, it's actually fairly accurate. When a plane turns sharply in the air, it's momentum continues to carry it in it's original direction of travel before the drag from the wind and the pull of the propeller or push of the jet, change it's velocity towards a new direction. Basically, when a plane is in a situation where it has to make hard turns, such as a dogfight, the plane will be "drifting" in every turn. It's much like a car making a hard turn, but with even less traction. I play a good many flight sims, and you initially don't expect things to feel so slidey when you're a newb and just starting to learn how to play them.
Of course, it doesn't really matter, since there doesn't seem to be any aerodynamics on the craft in BGE2, they just seem to magically float. So, as long as it's "video game believable" and fun, I guess.

Plus they already have the engine. Everything they've said the game can do, can already been done. For something like this, delivering on your base promises is half the battle(cough No Man's Sky cough). Now's just filling it up.

Game devs, we need to chat. Do you think players can't explore vast open worlds good enough on our own? Do you think that anything larger than roughly 10km^2 (which is closer to five due to bottomless pits or unclimbable mountains taking up the terrain) won't be seen well enough by one player? This genre is all about exploration, something I did just fine on my own through countless hours and games. But when you add a multiplayer focus, lone wolves like myself either never give it a chance or stop playing. There is too much of an advantage for large crews over a lone wolf or a small crew (2-3) that only plays here and there. A game I was really excited for now has to be thrown off my list because I know I won't keep up. I'd play for a week or even two, get burned out on it, go play something else, and be too scared of being so out classed that I never pick it up again. Reason I dropped Warframe, Battlefield 1, Halo MP, GoI, Fractured Space, and Guild Wars 2 (I had one buddy I played with who out grew me and so it's a pain for him to drop to my scrub level and that was when I was enjoying myself). We are gamers. You give us a map the size of a planet and we'll find every cave, every rock with loot under it, and every npc with a side quest for us to bring back 2.8 billion of something on our own. And then we'll look at you, smile, and ask to do it again somewhere else. Signed,A guy who has put up with too many assholes in games.
Jacob Davis I'm almost certain that you can play alone (it's not an mmo) the only multiplayer feature is having your crew have real players, which considering the fact that you can have an AI crew makes it just a small thing you can do if you want to play with a friend, or make friends. I also don't think there'll be a leveling system so the only way someone can be better a "higher level" is if they had more hearts, items (restorative ones) or things like the jetpack, which from what I know, you only get a crew when you have a big ship

I'll wait until it's much closer to release and hold off my full judgment until I can really get a proper grasp of what this exactly is and what it means. For all I know, it might sum some things up and give us a picture of what WOULD be next to come. I'll try to stay optimistic.

Ok I understand the story. The pirates are searching a kind of antic gate hidden somewhere in the galaxy, they will succeed to open it at the end, and that's how the Domz invasion begin. The artifact is just a portal gate who lead where Domz are living. The "ark" has the same architecture than the moon base in BGE1.
And I think I'm paranoid for that, but if you look the corpse floating in the space, we can see a thing under his neck in his chest, like a Domz pimple. Furthermore, the human girl at the end is Jade's mother. When she opened the gate, that make a links between her and the Domz chief, that's why Jade as a link with the Domz in BGE1
Honestly, the last fact was probably the best. This was probably the best looking game at E3 2017 and one of the most ambitious games I've ever seen. And even despite it not looking like the type of game I'd normally play, I am incredibly excited for it. The fact that it's not even half way done fills me with hope that this won't be another disappointment. But what really made me interested was the fact that you could make your own character. Yeah, the monkey is great but he's the polar opposite of my personality so I'm glad that I can have a proper projection of myself in this hopefully amazing world. Probably half rabbit or something like that though because plain humans are boring.
Wouldn't say it's the most ambitious game, but definitely up there alongside others with the same ambitions of going from walking around small environments to flying between planets without loading screens - No Man's Sky, Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen, have this "ambition" to pull of that crazy shit.
I had the first one on gamecube and still do. Its my favorite game of all time by far, I'm excited for the second one but a little disappointed that it wont be a sequel

the ambition is what worries me, over ambitiousness is what caused the cancellation of the previous version of the sequel which had Jade as the main character (you can find an old CGI E3 reveal on here somewhere), I hope this version actually makes it into peoples homes
Now my question is, as always with "customisable" games, can I make my character left-handed?
Game expected to come out around 2019-2020. They will of had 12 years to make this game, my expectations are high, as people speculate the next ps console (ps5) will be out by then. (not comparing pc hardware for obvious reasons) By that time with probably a next gen system idk why people WOULDN'T expect all game companies to get this ambitious...

I hope they take their time with this. It looks like it could be a masterpiece if they could only make the savviest decisions and not worry about markets or investors.
Either way I'll be glad for a cast that's actually got vibrant woc in it.
When I saw this I thought .... man this is beauti and interesting ..... but than , suddenly and for no particularly reason there was No man Sky passing through my brain .
I'm excited for this game. Also I think it's cool for the story to take place during the conflict between Humans and the Animals cause I think Pey'j mentioned it somewhat during the first game.

In the lates trailer you see the pirate ship caught by a gigantic sip. Everyone waits to see who will board the ship and it's JADE. In the original the only humans were Jade and the enemy. To the best of my recollection .
What about HH and han and all that?
Not a huge fan of creating my own characters or multiplayer but hopefully the game will be completely playable solo. I'm tentatively excited. The characters they've created seem interesting, at least so far.

I'm personally mostly worried about the create a character thing, I mean I understand that you can create one but my question is how does that work in cutscenes? I mean in the original game, the character you play as, Jade, has a voice so you sort of understand her emotions on a closer level than you do with characters in games where your character doesn't, like most Zelda games, and that makes me think what if our character doesn't speak. AT ALL. That worries me to new limits, because the game won't feel as complete, and it'll make the story worse than it should, so I'm strongly hoping that they do one of the following: have multiple voice options instead of us being able to edit the pitch and such (and then have multiple voice overs done for the cutscenes so that you get the voice you picked), they can have only two voices to pick from so that the male has one and the female has one making the voice acting cheaper for them, or have presets for the characters instead of having detailed voices for different species

I'm hesitant about this, but I really want it to be good.
My main concern are the mmo aspects, and how much the story fits with the universe of the game. The mmo aspects, because stories in mmo's tend to be not as fleshed out and definitely not as player interactive, and the story, because from the look of things, we aren't getting much anything from the first game except for Peyj and Jade, and even then I think they aren't going to make much sense timeline wise.
I mean, think about it... from how the story in the first game went, the Domz should be pretty much the main focus of the inhabited universe, yet they are nowhere to be seen. Wouldn't it have made more sense for us to play as Iris network agents rather than space pirates?
