The xd has a 4.08 rear end and 9 speed, substantially more GVWR and wheel base. For a trailer this long and heavy, its definitely the better choice. Not quite 3/4 but more than 1/2 which is why I bought it.
Having owned both Titan and Titan XD, the XD is much more stable and quiet. The regular Titan gets blown around pretty good in the wind. They both feel pretty quick. Brakes much better on the XD.
Here is the break down. 04 - 15 Titans had two axle ratios. 2.94 and 3.36 with a very good 5 speed Auto. 16-19 regular Titans all have a 2.94 axle ratio with the 7 speed trans. 20 - current regular Titans have a 3.69 ratio with 9 speed. 400HP / 413 lb Ft with premium fuel. I’m glad you recognized that it’s a good truck but you said it wasn’t a good truck a couple of times because of interior. You’re being hard on it. Yes the infotainment especially in your 18 tester is behind but it’s assembled just as well as the Big 3. We have a fleet of mostly Ford but some GM trucks at my job. They are definitely no better. In my personal garage I have a 17 Corvette, 17 Mustang GT, and a 13 Titan daily. While not trucks my Ford and GM have no quality advantages over my Titan. All are fine for mass produced cars. Also those aftermarket Head unit fit kits often times introduce rattles as well. Ask me how I know lol. My 13 Titan has been a great truck. Towed my Stang from GA to Florida and back. 1000 mile round trip. 6500+ lbs. 13 MPG @ 70 MPH in cruise control. Never needed to shift. You Talked about finding the sweet spot for speed. I bet your tester would haul your trailer at 65 - 70 with ease if you lock out 7th maybe 6th gear. The hunting would go away. Trans and engine would be happier. Overall great channel. Been watching since you were at 11,000 subs.
My 21 pro4x has 3.69 gears factory 1i believe a 4100lb rear axle. I just towed 7500 pounds yesterday in 35mph wind gusts about 100miles on the interstate. Wind kinda pushes it around a bit empty but when loaded it was stable at 75mph. I have ras suspension enhancement and im lifted about 3 inches. I love the truck. Sounds amazing in tow haul with exhaust as well. If hey come out with a new gen titan with a tin turbo ill be all over it.
Well looks like it performed a lot better with stability than the last F150 you tested lol. The stability looked pretty good. I’m not sure how viable that would be towing on an actual trip. Sounded like it wanted to be at 3,000 rpm to just maintain speed. But that was 70 mph. That was too fast for a 1500. 60-63 was a good speed. That’s also why you got pretty good fuel mileage.
1st gear on the XD is 5.42, with a 4.083 final drive. Figuring actual wheel power to the ground in gears 1-4, the xd beats Silverado 1500 with 6.2l 3.42 , and Silverado 2500 6.6l 3.72, in all RPM. Gear 5, this trucks catch up. Titan is 1:1 in gear 6, the chevys are 1:1 in gear 7.
for bigger things, id say titan, dont get me wrong the tundra is great and can work but I find the titan to be better. Anything over else, americans 1/2 tons win in the work horse segment over foreign.
Hmm... Creeks and rattles. I am wicked anal when it comes to noises. my 23 pro4x is SOLID. No noises at all. Not even over rough railroad crossings and pot holes. Love my Titan.
Is there any difference between the f350 platinum high output and f350 platinum tremor high output when towing? Which one is better overall in your opinion?
@@stevenpeterson7234can you upload a vid of all this? Like a walk around and brief explanation? I would also like to make these upgrades but I don't want to go in blind.

The xd really is impressive. Love mine. Tow a 5th wheel, it does not care that the 5th wheel is on there.
Just picked up a 2023 XD... absolutely loving it. Coming out of two previous Tundra's
@@joelbabin4365 same here! Kept my 06 Tundra but also a Toyota fanboy myself.
These Titan are not afraid to utilize every gear to it full potential, and REV! I love it. The reving does not bother me one bit.

I wish they would have just tried to keep competing.

Pretty heavy trailer for a half ton but pretty impressive performance. I'm still leaning towards the 2500HD for my 6000lb. enclosed.
Keep em coming jb.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

I think so if not they need to get with the program !
I honestly don't think you can get a better used truck for the money.
I really hope you find a 20 or newer regular and XD Titan to test soon.
Of your cruising at highway speed, turn off the tow button. It will be smoother and run gears just normally.
Dude I would love to see you get your hands on a 5.0 coyote f150 with the 10 speed and tow with it!
I second this

What tows better the 5.7 tundra or the titan

I’ll probably just stick with a 3/4 ton thanks for the reply
With 93 octane the 5.6 400 horses with 413 tonque
That’s for 20 - current models tho I do wonder if the 16 - 19 would make the same power and Nissan just didn’t advertise.
@@AB-coyote same engine so don't see why not

For towing the non Tremor will probably have better payload because it will be a bit lighter.
They’re getting rid of the only Nissan vehicle I’d consider buying.
My 23 Titan Pro-4x had 3.69 rear end. I did quite a few mods and can tow 12,000lbs with ease!!
What mods have you done? I have the same truck but struggle with 7k lb camper trailer. TY.
@@a.cabrera78
The mods: intake/Venomaire intake, 90mm throttle body, headers with header cooling wrap, exhaust cam gear, exhaust, diablo sports tune, 92 octane tune, 4.11 gears. Bilstien 6100/5160 suspension lift on load E 34 inch tires and add-a-leaf with sumo springs.
I have the same truck as well where did you get those modifications at? And is it an XD or just the Titan? Thanks.
