Adding clarification for those who are watching: You don't just need the three core boxes and Doomed Run to play Doomed Run. You do also need the Outriders expansion. You need literally everything except the cosmetic add-ons (metal coins and playmat). However, if your core box for the first game is just the regular one, not the Deluxe version, they have included all of the relevant deluxe content (not all, but just what applies to play Doomed Run) in the Doomed Run box. (The Deluxe versions of the second and third base games are the same as retail, just with a slipcover. Only the first game's Deluxe version has extra actual content.)
@@elqord.1118 Well, the entire point of Doomed Run is that it is a culmination and endcap for the entire product line. In that sense, it is similar to Hostage Negotiator: Career.
Good callout! I forgot about the Outriders small pack not being included in one of the boxes. Thanks for calling that out! I also agree it is not great for newcomers, which is a bummer as this box is pretty dang cool!
@@coreyellis378 That’s correct. You don’t need to hunt down any of the promo cards because those are already included in other products, and you don’t necessarily need the deluxe version of the base game because any deluxe exclusive cards that are needed for DR are actually duplicated inside DR so that you don’t have to hunt down a deluxe version or an upgrade pack. The only other products that exist are the little cloth mat and the metal coins.
Awesome work! For those unfamiliar with set a watch this 1st realm is set up to be easier. I finished my doom run campaign and the later realms get just brutal.
My pledge just got to me a week or 2 ago. Haven't gotten it to the table yet though. This playthrough has inspired me to get to it this weekend. Thanks Colin.
It's like you're looking at my current favorites. First RTDT with Covenant, now a chance to dig into the first realm of Doomed Run. I look forward to checking this out between work calls throughout the day.
Colin you keep playing similar games to me and I love it! I just got the recent crowdfunded stuff for set a watch and so glad the doomed run delivers as I wanted some kind of mini campaign for this game. It’s in my top 5 of all time with this could go higher. Love the dice puzzle and abilities too. Btw that merchant is so fleeting and lazy for you he didn’t want to open some nights. 😂 great playthrough! Love the games you’ve been showing lately (mainly cause I have most haha)
I’m so looking forward to trying out a Doomed Run soon! Great video, very helpful explanations. One thing I think you misread was the Gargoyle, it moves up when enemies are revealed, not when they are defeated. (I’m only 1/3 through so you may catch this later haha). Cheers!
Oh dang!! I made a note thank you so much for letting me know! I hope you can try the Doomed run it is a BLAST!! Can't wait to do realm 3 with my kiddos!
Nice playthrough! I received my Doomed Run a few weeks ago, but haven't had time to sort it out, play with it yet. Minor note - that gargoyle (stamp 29:45 or thereabout) wouldn't advance in the line. That's only triggered on Reveals, not Defeats.
Awesome play through! Gotta remember that market place lol.l! I think you refresh the market with one card if nothing is bought when adding coins back to camp. It may help you remember to buy. Does for me anyway. Love this game.
Great stuff Colin, really enjoyed the playthrough. You need to borrow the Merchant mini from Mythwind to remind you to spend some money! lol That's the trouble with solo play, especially when you have to multitask with filming. Bet the kids would have reminded you about the market! lol Always looks a really smooth game, in the way the mechanisms work. Seems solidly designed to me. Sadly another good game I don't have lol The only very slight issue imhco (in my hyper critical opinion) is getting coins for performing the camp tasks. Not sure how that works thematically, but meh, I can let it slide lol It's a bit of a pea under a ton of mattresses. lol Thanks as always. I can't keep up with the great content you guys are putting out atm!
Haha! I do think Realm 1 is set on easy mode as that want to hard. I feel like the future Realms will be harder! Thanks so much for watching!! My kids aren't quite ready for recording... soon though!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable The first Realm really did seem like cake walk. At the 11th location I ran into some issues but had a couple of items that let me refresh abilities. (I also exploited the Unused location deck more than ever-I think I checked the Map 4 times which I almost never do).
Yes the "check map" ability I used A TON more than normal which I kind of liked! Cool way to mitigate the unknown! Have you played any of the other realms! We have played the first 2 and I feel like the second one was harder than thte first!
At 18:58 you said wizard cannot rest for the next three rounds, is that correct? I know all must rest twice but I didn’t realise all must rest once before anyone can rest a second time? Thanks!
So normally it's not but I thought during the Realm play each character needs to rest once before each game break as you can stop and put the game away after 4 rounds. But I have been wrong on a lot of things so could be wrong here!!
I backed the second campain of Set a watch all-in but ended up selling the lot. It's a fun game but both the setup and the game itself felt too long for what it is. Enjoyed the playthrough anyway :D
I missed out on the campaign Maybe I can preorder from the game maker's webstore. Unsure if they are selling the KS edition or a retail vers though. But yeah I need to research more. Thanks for the PT! Much appreciated.
The game is so fun!! I don't think you even need the ks version the biggest thing is you need all the previous content. It is a great way to combine it!!
This really is a nice game... while this game mode is tempting, and the market is great, i think having only the first box is enough for me. Small note: 1:16:55, you have a leftover die, which would have removed 1 doom.
THANK YOU! I have loved watching your video multiple times. I get my copy of Doomed Run in today and can’t wait to play. I just kept looking and looking thinking I had missed it somewhere.
Hey Colin! Great playthrough, I haven't gotten my campaign to the table yet because I'm still neck deep in Nova Aetas, but I'm looking forward to it! I do think you fudged the Scout Ahead action a bit though, since you're supposed to place the die left to right along those spaces. The symbol between is the greater than symbol, illustrating that the next die must be higher. So you shouldn't have been putting those extra coins there if you placed any dice that turn. Otherwise, this mode looks like a lot of fun! Are you planning on completing the run on camera?
Oh doi that makes so much sense... buhahaha!! I'll make a note on that!! Not sure yet for the full run on the channel as I'm playing with my kids and it's hard to track between the two. Might wait until we finish first!! Thanks for the note on this!!
Oh yeah, running multiple campaigns in the same game is nuts. And you're right, this game is deceptively simple, but because there's so much involved it's easy to miss little things here and there.
Yeah part of the reason I might hold until we are done :) Also a question for you, for the chopping wood section do I need to do those left to right as well? Or is it just the Scout Ahead due to the "greater than" symbols? Thanks Morgaknight!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable I mean, technically it doesn't matter, but the way I've read it is that if you place in any of those spots for Chop Wood or Scout Ahead, you don't place a coin. I'm fairly certain it's to encourage you to do other actions when possible, and to not make it too easy to buy items. So if it helps you to remember, I'd recommend placing left to right for both spots.
So I just read the Sword of the Coin rulebook I don't see anything about how I am restricted on where I place my dice on those locations. Are you saying that if I place any die on the Chop Wood, I would gain the coins but wouldn't add a coin there? If that is the case why did they put the symbol over only one action space of the "Chop Wood" action? You know what I mean? Is that in an FAQ or something? Just want to make sure I put up the correct subtitle!!
Unrelated question: I've recently come across Chronicles of Drunagor. You did a couple of playthroughs a while back, and then nothing. Wondering what you think about it now? Is it worth picking up, or did you stop because it stopped being interesting?
Unfortunately that one did not hit the mark for Bairnt and I so we ended up selling our pledge! We have heard a lot of other folks love it though! Just wasn't for us!
