When I bought a 72 ford truck, everyone told me that the original drum drum brakes were horrible and to be careful. What I learned was that properly set up and operating drum brakes are perfectly good at stopping the truck, 3500lbs of chips, a 4500lbs chipper and assorted tools, usually a passenger seat overflowing with gear. Be Well Jeff
Always good to see you Jeff! The only problem I can think of is we don’t see Enough of you. Love the rooster crowing. Thank you and keep the videos coming.
Those with the books, are just book smart for codes and index , not repairs of anything kind, just parts available with very little knowlage of X ref !!! Thanks for the heads up not sure i will ever work on my 59 again, but if i do i now know what to watch for ! THANKS !!
Boy O Boy Jeff I was ready to send a search party out to find you, glad to see your video proves your ok. Thanks for the video always great to see what your up to.
Updating a 57 Chevy and purchased a entire list of products from CPP at the very beginning. NEVER AGAIN !!! Customer service ??? What's that ??? Doesn't exist !!! Get all your stuff from Earl Williams Classic Chassis instead. Great stuff and super nice guy !!!
Ahhhhhh Jeff, I remember when you used the drive gate to straighten tent frame tubing! And now you're complaining about a little ole bracket. Oh gosh be darn! Lol and yet another great video...
Amazing - Jeff has only posted two videos in the last 30 days, but according to Social Blade he has gained 300 new subscribers and had 112,495 views in that same period! I guess he and those clever roosters have figured out the system... 😉👍
Good to see you up and still kicking old man. Was beginning to wonder if you had dropped off the face of the earth or been kidnapped by those euro folks wanting old trucks. Take her easy.
I'm totally cornfused now...so we have to put a different pedal lever on to solve the problem, right? Or just put the pedal lever on after the body is mounted, right? Or switch parts back and forth between trucks until George is totally cornfused, right? Right!
The larger GM trucks of that vintage used a remote Hydro-vac located rearward along the frame. For good reason. I'm sure you're already aware of this. I think if I was inclined to want power brakes I would have gone that way. My 1956 6400 has that set up.
good work !! however i dont see the brake peddle being that big of a deal. id say personally i just put the cab on with the brake peddle off. then after the cab is mounted work the peddles frame through the hole and assemble it. would save time compared to fabricating to get the factory peddle to work. But i could be wrong. i just figure it would be easier to just work the peddle through the cab after you've mounted it.
Daggum rooster! I'm guessing CPP thinks you're going to retrofit those pedal assemblies and booster into a truck, without taking the cab off. But, I'm not sure how you would install them with the cab in place.
Okay Jeff Que the chicken. Ring. No not the phone the er ah er errrr. It was laying Wright here. Dang chicken come back with that. Happy Motoring Jeff.
Tools, in the tool box! You must have been under the weather the day you put them where they belong-bahahaha! I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and learned a bit, too.
it's my opinion that they are just making it harder for people to run 4 wheel drums. on almost all cars. working on my friends 70 chevelle you CANNOT find a drum/drum prop valve. it seems that they are making the 4 wheel drum parts harder and harder to find to push people to buying the front or 4 wheel disc conversions
"The spiders won't hurt you." he said. Yeh ??? Come to Australia and say that ! And what is that old stage saying ? Don't work with children, roosters or telephones.
@@Kickinpony66 We don't have large land based animals like bears or mountain lions, though kangaroos can kill if rutting or cornered. Queensland has a large flightless bird, the cassowary, which can kill too. Most of the spiders certainly can. But we also have snakes, sharks, crocs, jellyfish, stingrays (Steve Irwin)... Though for the most part, living in the suburbs it's spiders we have to be careful of. We don't brush spider webs away with our bare hands around these parts.

Power drum brakes work fine yea. Non power well that's a whole different story.
Ahhh, Jeff, you are truly a `one-of-a-kind` ! And PLEASE, do not ever change !
I really enjoy the jocularity in your videos and outtakes !
CPP has done left Jeff tongue-tied with frustration. Glad to see he's still with us.

Hey! Hey!! Good to see you back on Elderlyiron! Skip

Sometimes life is just like that Jeff. Just wait till CPP need to buy something from you - then you have them.
Glad to see your back big mouth rooster and all.
Good to see you up and still kicking old man. Was beginning to wonder if you had dropped off the face of the earth or been kidnapped by those euro folks wanting old trucks. Take her easy.
Thank You Jeff Good Job
You got me laughing....again! Thanks Jeff
Glad to see ya.
Must have been a great day when GM mounted the master cylinder on the firewall!
they weren't the only ones to use that set up... :(
Crap! I have a '59 with drum/drum and I have all of this to wrangle. Thanks for sharing
Sounds like you are having the same issue as us: hawks after the chickens, and the crows are doing their best to warn them in time.
You may want to check the master cylinder sizes also. Disc takes a different size and drums need a residual check valve.
Good to see a video and a another dandy of a rant.
Good video !!
damn jeff, where were ya!?
live in the country for peace and quiet.

it sounded like old McDonald's farm today, but it adds to the authenticity..........

how about putting the cab on then go under and install the bolts to hold the lever on.
Have you changed the clutch in your friends 1950s GMC diesel flatbed?
Mister Bradshaw, long time. Where ya been?
good work !!

See you in 2020 Geoff...😆
once the cab is on, can you feed the one piece pedal through from the inside and bolt on from below?
If it could be done easily, GM probably would have done it that way. If it could be done at all, Jeff wouldn't have made this video.
good information new subscriber

Rooster for thanksgiving?
I hope you made a cardboard template of that extention plate.
It sounds like that company is just a pain in the ass.
I guess it's not easy being you either
Hear! Hear!
Well that’s a fine kettle of fish Ole ! Hmmmm I’m thinking a hitch pin would be to sloppy .

Aftermarket is a Chinese word that means must be modified to fit.
I see chicken and dumplings in your future😉👍
Putting stuff away? Getting organised?!? Do you remember what happened last time?
A snowstorm came and demolished your shop!
hi make the part and sell them
The crow didn't like the rooster.
Never share with animals, no matter the adjustments, I too will never unsubscribe.
