Manga's even better. Very early on you have an arc where a girl who'd been crushing on Seiya starts trying to get close to him, and Ririka is visibly upset, though she doesn't yell or anything. She eventually does blow up at him, accidentally insulting his family hospital and hurting him, which upsets her even more. From early on it plays with her being infatuated with Kanou but not being able to admit to herself that she has very deep feelings for Seiya, possibly even deeper than her crush on Kanou. I love the epilogue: It's three years later and Ririka and Seiya are fourteen, when they're invited to Queen Earth for Helena and Kanon's wedding. While there they go on a little adventure to find a dragon and Seiya is horribly wounded. The dragon tells Ririka that she's unable to heal him because she hasn't fully opened her heart, and she breaks down crying that she's "always" known she's in love with him (could mean from the start or a long time). When she manages to heal him he tries to confess but is stopped when she kisses him. When they get back home Ririka is already missing everyone, so Seiya half-jokingly says that they can invite them to THEIR wedding, but instead of getting made or something she cheerfully agrees and says it's a great idea. As she picks him up off the ground (knees went out) she continues to tell him she wants to marry him as soon as possible so they can meet them all again.
At the same time, there's one point I like the anime far more for. In the manga Seiya's just completely normal. He gets a little boomerang late in the story and uses it maybe one or two times, but that's it. So, the manga gives more evidence of the romantic feelings Ririka's developing for him and a proper conclusion to this, while the anime gives the boy the ability to actually help and support her, giving an interesting dynamic where both have saved each other on multiple occasions.
Pity the anime didn't have the ending extra from the manga. Four years pass and fourteen-year-old Ririka and Seiya are invited to visit Queen Earth for Kanon and Helena's wedding. Still a lot of belligerence between them. Mimina wants a special gift for her sister, a tear of a great dragon that's supposed to bless a couple with future happiness, so she asks Ririka and Seiya to go with. Turns out that the darkness of Dark Joker had gathered in the cave where the dragon lives, as the dragon tried to absorb it and reduce its effect on the outside world, only to succumb and become a violent monster. Ririka manages to purify it, becoming Nurse Angel once more, but not before Seiya saves her from a powerful attack and suffers severe injury in the process. Afterward, when the dragon is healed, she tries to heal Seiya but it isn't working. The dragon tells her that her magic isn't strong enough because she needs to be truer to her heart. Hearing this, she hesitates briefly before admitting that she'd always been in love with Seiya, at which point her power skyrockets and he's healed. Seiya is dumbfounded by what he heard but tries to tell her he loves her too, only for her to kiss him and then head off to the wedding. Afterward, when they get back, Ririka's depressed about when she'll be able to see them again. Seiya cheers her up with a second teardrop the dragon gave to him for the two of them, then hesitantly, in a shy, half-joking manner says that Seiya and Ririka could invite them here for their wedding next. Instead of getting mad or denying it like he expects, she just says that's a great idea. He collapses from shock that she didn't deny it in the least, while she pulls him up saying she wants to get married as soon as possible so they can see them again.
