#4!!! Waterproof, reusable, multipurpose. I go back to this from time to time. 😊 Pro-tip for frequent hotel stayers: grab those laundry bags whenever you can, they're free and some are really durable! Anyway, it's time I make an upgrade. Thanks for these great selection Aaron!
Various forms of bedding often come in clear, zippered cubes/brick type shapes that can be repurposed as packing cubes. Also, ziploc type bags work well.
Great reviews, as always! I made myself start using packing cubes on recent trips and I'm officially a convert. It's crazy what you can make fit in these things, and there's so much comfort in the organization. That said, I don't know if there's a single type of travel gear where I have a harder time wrapping my head around paying for a premium product. I love Aer and would normally have no issue paying for their quality and branding to pair with my Aer travel pack, but the cheap cubes I already have get the job done so well already. One thing: If you do any more packing cube reviews, I'd love it if you might show us how they fit into a couple of popular travel packs when the cubes are fully packed? I know everyone's combination of cubes and pack are going to be different, but a sense of how a couple fully packed cubes fit into a standard backpack you pick would be cool to see, just to get a sense of relative sizing.
You finally did it! I have a feeling this will end up one of your most successful videos of the year. I learned a lot about brands I've never checked out before! I'll definitely use your links to make my purchase! Thanks for your hard work, and I hope you get to a point where you can start pumping out your own half-Italian family soon!!!
Very nice, I got a set of the Peak early on and they are nice all around, but I also got a set of Alpaka ones were were inexpensive and a bit thinner in size than the Peaks, and they are perfectly good too in a smaller non-compressible way. I also noticed Alpha One Niner has a nice inexpensive (relatively to other online specialty brands) set, that was even a little smaller than Alpaka's. Its just nice to match relative size and shape to the type of luggage you are gonna throw them into. Granted I have extreme ocd lol.
An ever changing market. I got a set of Eagle Creek and they held up well on a five week trip in 2018. Very light weight. Discontinued about a year later. Compression cubes are very useful but cost a lot more to the standard ones of the same size.
Great video! I have converted to Peak Design's cubes because they fit my Monos hybrid carry on perfectly. But the queen of my heart is Thule's compression packing cube. I've never experienced a more satisfying compression zipper.
Just got the Thule clean/dirty packing cube. Materials are a bit heavier than I would like, but I hope that will make it more durable. This and the Eagle Creek clean/dirty packing cubes are my favorite since you can fully open the dirty compartment.
Hi Aaron, Nice list! I have most of them (#1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10) but have to say you missed the best one (at least for me) is from Bluffworks out of UK. They have a velco that can cinch in depending on how much you pack so it doesn’t slide around when not full. Also, it has a side zip that’s see thru but that means you can take out each clothing item as you need instead of opening and taking out the entire set of clothes. I need to get more as each time a family member or friends jack mine as they love it so much. Prices not too unreasonable. Hope you can get a hold of them and do a review. And #7 Step22, their tech and toiletry bags are great. Hope you can do a review on those as well. Keep up the videos of late. Good stuff!
I love number 4. I've spent loads of money on nice bags but use number 4 a lot and also only using cheap packing cubes as much as I would love number 2.
A company on Amazon Tripped travel gear made a dupe of the Peak Design medium packing cubes…same specks and materials….i have both (and love them equally)
Its funny how having a $1 YKK zipper justifies according to these youtube "reviewers" a price tag of $80+ for a little nylon bag. Materials and workmanship total $4 and a retail price of $85.
agreed that the margins on these must be pretty crazy for the brands, and as I said in my video at the 5:11 mark, a plastic bag works perfectly well for a packing cube. But if you want to splurge, these are absolutely the best that I've tested. Thanks for watching!
Hey, thanks for the awesome video! This is the second time you mention Pakt packing cubes set being $65 but the website shows them at $99 for the set.. Perhaps a mistake on your end? Would be nice to get these from Pakt for $65 but seems that is not happening :)
Admittedly, I prefer #4 in addition to my packing cubes. Why? Laundry, particularly since they can be tied closed (good for anything that could have crawlies) and not mix dirty with clean.
Personally I think packing cubes ought to be made of the lightest & thinnest possible materials, as they aren't the clothes you actually need on a trip and instead they take up space & weight in your luggage. For that reason, I don't understand the Step22 collection.
Totally get where you are coming from. I think the Step22 collection are 'storage' cubes that can be used for a variety of things including tools, electronic gear, or clothes when you travel.
@@Nomads.Nation the Step22 brand is more well known in the overlanding community, to your point Aaron, much more outdoors style venture like camping, and having things stored in a vehicle and/or camper/trailer; hence their super rugged design and I’d put them above tortuga even. One thing I also love about their brand, is they name their products after endangered animals/species, and send portions of their proceeds back to helping them. #funfacts #themoreyouknow
Why is it that every link I go try shows up Private? Well, not quite true. But I went to watch your review of the Pakt cubes, and that is unviewable. Beginning to wonder if I am trying to watch faster that you are posting them.
yea haha it's been a bit of a clusterF trying to get all these live at the same time. Pakt packing cubes review should be live in a day or two. Are there any others that are 'private'?

Another great video, Aaron. I mostly use clean/dirty cubes, mostly small size. Anything other than PD or Eagle Creek you would recommend?
cheers! I love the Aer packing cubes and Tortuga

#4 all dayy
Been seeing some reviews from users on peak design cubes fraying along seams, just fyi. As usual great vid & info!
thanks!
A company on Amazon Tripped travel gear made a dupe of the Peak Design medium packing cubes…same specks and materials….i have both (and love them equally)
Oh ya, 2 medium Tripped packing cubes is 30 bucks
I’d personally prefer to support the original brand instead of the brand that stole from them, but also good to know for anyone who is on a budget
Have you tried KnackPack’s packing cubes? If not, would like to see a video on it for pros n cons.
haven't tried but I'll check em out
I noticed the Nomatic packing cubes didn't really make the cut. Do they not really measure up?
They are solid, I just prefer these
I actually own the Bagail. Best choice out of all of the other options imo.
Nice! It’s got a billion 5-star reviews so proves you don’t always have to drop $$ on gear.
You didn't talk about the drawback for the peak design cubes, but kind of mentioned it when talking about another cube.
Should I buy packing cubes from the same brand as the backpack since they claim to fit perfectly?
it can certainyl help but tbh most packing cubes are the same standard size (give or take)

How much for the Plastic Bag?
For you , I give you good price
