It’s rough for graduates and junior devs. Most companies just simply hire experienced developers and overlook junior devs because they don’t want to invest money and time in training anyone.
Heya! While this is true for a lot of companies, there are many others willing to invest in you. I know this because I've been there 😵💫. There are still many reasons why it is good to hire graduate and junior developers and although it is truly challenging at the beginning to get a job, if you prepare yourself and are willing to put the reps in for sure you can get one 🙂
If you don't have either an amazing portfolio, practical experience in a production environment or at least a Bachelors Degree in Comp Sci it's going to be very hard for you to get a Dev/Eng job right now. You actually also need to enjoy development, know the tech lingo and solve problems that you're passionate about or even make your life easier through automation. This makes it a lot easier to network and have conversations with other developers and they will take you more seriously and connect with you more. It's definitely possible to get a job even without a degree, but you need to put in the work, as well as enjoy the journey and NETWORK!
I totally agree. If you are going down this path you need to be willing to put the reps in and you must enjoy coding. This is true for development or any other career you choose to pursue. Find what you enjoy and probably what makes decent money to live 👀
@@devesteban Couldn’t agree more! Web Development wasn’t for me and I only knew that through pet projects, but found that cloud infrastructure is my jam. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their journey! Keep up the great content my friend 👊🏽
True. Im from Arg and i did received like 20+ proposals from US companies past month. Accepted with Paypal... U know how much they pay me (5y exp)? 4k/month We re very cheap, we have "ok" english, skilled, and only 1+ hour from EST (Which gives us advantage over other cheap labour such as India).
Well, I guess @devgabriel6898 already made a good point. It doesn't matter where you are you can always negotiate a good salary. Not every company want or can hire people remotely let alone remotely anywhere in the world. They always have different reasons (taxes, team culture, etc). It does matter what you learn, how good you make your CV, and how much you get ready for interviews. All the best!
@@Ffoo_ffighter They can definitely lowball you, but probably you don't want to work for those companies anyway. They more likely won't offer you a salary from the US, but you can definitely negotiate around the high-end spectrum based on your position (junior/mid/senior) and location.

I have been looking for a new opportunity for almost 2 years. I have 3 years of experience right now, own multiple products inside the company I work on and to be honest I think I'm enough.. unfortunately on the past 6 months I only got 1 answer and was a no. I have a portfolio, I have experience, I studied CS Science.. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'm starting to give up on this because looks like no matter how good you are, there will always be someone better asking for less money
hey @brumoisao, I'm sorry to hear that mate. I'm not aware of your whole situation but it could be that in the area where you're looking for jobs there is not much demand. As I mentioned in this video, the job market for developers in the last 6-12 months was really impacted and a lot of devs lost their jobs. The market is definitely spiking again, I've noticed it and according to the statistics, things are just going north for us. Don't give up, keep preparing yourself, sharpen that CV and keep applying. All the best!
In my country, suddenly all jobs mostly added NextJS as Requirements (mostly use 'proficient' word) in January, then on February, All Job Strong Required Automated Testing , and then march mostly job needed Fluent English Conversation, then from April until now, it still hard to get job as Frontend, even for middle/senior. Hope Next Will Be Better.
hey @ariosetiawa173 that's interesting, I guess every company just went to React's documentation and saw that CRA is not recommended anymore 😅. I wouldn't worry about that because if you know React you can still apply. These companies are taking advantage of the situation as many experienced developers were laid off. For sure the situation will change. And you are right, even for mid and senior devs it has been difficult to get jobs as there weren't many tbh. The situation is definitely changing, I've noticed it since a couple of months ago. Hopefully, things will just keep improving. Thanks for your comment mate! 👍
This makes absolutely no sense. How can average developer salary be calculated without counting all the zeros that unemployed developers get paid? You’re just averaging the employed numbers which don’t fluctuate and are not indicative of anything.
Bro you are SOOOO out of touch, doing research on old and misleading data... 🤦♂ it's obvious it's been MANY years since you tried to get your first developer job and also obvious that you are not close to anyone in that situation. Nowadays there are about 2000 applicants for each junior opening. That's right, you are competing against a couple THOUSAND others like you for a single position. I know this not just from personal experience but also from talking to HR and recruiters in the other end.
Glad you liked it man! It is indeed one of the most difficult stages of a developer as one doesn't have professional experience and much knowledge tbh, but every developer starts as a junior so it is definitely possible 💪. I got my first programming job in a graduate programme, I talked briefly about this in one of my videos "Why you are not getting a developer job". Check it out if you are interested. All the best man!
hey! That really depends on your location and what works in your country. You can of course use LinkedIn and Indeed which are almost everywhere. Search for job platforms in your region. I've lived in different countries and they normally have their own local popular job board. If you are in the UK or Europe any of the ones below should do the work. Also, go to the companies site and look for jobs in their "Careers" section.
