Life is simple when you explain it so well. I really like the Zeiss lens wipes which I bought from you and do a great job (much better than others I’ve bought elsewhere in the past). I bought a water bath years ago and used it once. (Good I suppose if your glasses are really grubby). And what’s wrong with just warm water and a good microfibre cloth. Plain good advice as always. Keep up the videos Rob as I really enjoy them 👍
I think I'll film an updated version of this at some point this year
You can also use Dawn dishwasher the one with the duck print on it. Rinse it with warm water that also helps with the oils.
Really interesting and useful video. 😊👍
1:47 I've seen conflicting advice out there about using washing-up liquid to clean your glasses. 🤔 Essilor recommends to "clean with a mild liquid dishwashing soap" and Zeiss says "rub a drop of pH-neutral washing-up liquid between your fingers". However, Which? Magazine says "with repeated use the grease-busting chemicals in washing up liquid will craze the lens coating on your glasses".
Thanks! IMO, it's just safer to avoid any chemicals except those made specifically to clean your lenses.
@@thespectaclefactory That's good advice, I'll remember to do that. 😊 In my last two pairs of glasses I've had Essilor Crizal Forte UV lenses, which have unfortunately crazed badly within just 2 years.
Water and dry with paper towel. I've been doing it for 25 years, no problems.
I use a zeiss lens wipe every couple days on my cartier sunnys. Is that okay?
isn't lens wipe included alcohol which can damage the coating?
Interesting, I've learnt to never ever clean glasses dry, whatsoever. I use the warm water / soap / finger approach and my glasses look like new even after 5yrs of almost daily wear. Also I would like to know, if frames like J.F.rey use wood, would this affect how to clean them? I guess then my approach would not be ideal..
When using warm water to clean your glasses do you use your finger to clean them under the water tap and then dry them with the microfiber cloth ? Or do you just get them wet then directly use the cloth to clean and dry them ?
(I guess that with the 1st option you may scratch them, but you're the expert !)
2nd option after letting the water run off
What coating is on your glasses in this video? They have a really nice blue reflex colour!
It's Zeiss Duravision Blue Protect
What glasses are you wearing in this video? They look like some model of Reykjavik- which I love btw
They are the 'Fulla' - and thank you!
I just clean my glasses once in the morning and sometimes in the middle of the day if they get dirty and that's it so I was shocked when you said "8-10 times" like I lived my whole life in a lie 😭
😂
