I have this amp. One major thing that everyone should know before buying this is that it is NOT an 80 watt amp. It says in small letters in the manual that it has 40 watts when on battery and 80 watts when plugged in. While there is a huge and noticeable difference in volume when it is plugged in and when it is not, even when plugged in this amp puts out at best 50 watts of power. I have the entire Fishman series and the Fishman Mini which is suppose to be a 60 watt amp has at least three times the volume of this if not more. The quality of the sound is very good. It is truly instrument accurate. That has always been my one complaint about the FIshman, while they are fantastic amps, they have a sound of their own no matter what you plug into them. But this amp sounds different depending on what you plug in. I absolutely love its tones but the volume is a serious issue. I don’t busk but if you are planning on taking this to the street you should really know the volume will not be enough for any type of busking. I did check another unit to make sure mine was not the exception. If you want to use this at home while using the battery the volume will do fine. But if you are taking it anywhere to a gig or the street you will need power and please be aware even with the power the volume will not be enough. Nux is on the right track but it’s not there yet.

You can simulate, while on battery, that the amp is connected. I use this trick to make a Positive Grid Sparkle Portable and it can be used on the NUX too. There are 3 or 4 models of batteries that can deliver the needed voltage.
Very helpful review. I am trying to decide between this Nux and the Fishman loudnox, I really liked the Fishman , but in some reviews, the Nux seemed to have a better tone and have the edge. Also, the Nux has a tone of extra functionality that the Fishman doesn't.
