- Dress rehearsal with the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO), performing a composition based on the traditional Malay folk tune from Terengganu - "JONG JONG INAI" - composed and conducted by LUQMAN AZIZ in conjunction with the 10th MERDEKA AWARD ceremony in September 2017. The composition was "designed" based on the idea of "clearing the stage" as the music was playing; it starts with a full orchestra, and ends with only a string quartet and percussion. Sorry for the noises though.
This was my second appearance as conductor for the MPYO. These boys and girls are really awesome, and I enjoyed every moment with all of them. I learned a lot, gained new experiences and made new friends.

Hope one day tuan boleh buat concert khas utk lagu-lagu melayu tradisional mcm ulek mayang, wau bulan dll yg di oleh macam naskah jong jong inai ni.
Terima kasih tuan ke atas sokongan dan dorongan yang diberikan. Sesungguhnya sekiranya diberikan peluang dan rezeki, saya akan terus berusaha untuk mengangkat lagu-lagu tradisi tanahair kita ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi sepertimana peluang yang telah diberikan kepada saya untuk menghasilkan karya Jong Jong Inai ini. Penghargaan seharusnya diberikan juga kepada Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) melalui cabang youth orchestra-nya (MPYO) dan Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) kerana sudi menjemput saya untuk menjayakan program ini.
Pain of being in a wind orchestra is never getting that sweet and grand sound from strings section at 3:31 😭
