    On top of household shelter and storey shelter, there's also staircase shelter where basically the staircase doubles up as a storey shelter. Personally I think this is the most efficient design. Not only does it protect the people inside, it also protects the staircase which will then allow people to descend to the ground floor on their own without requiring SCDF intervention.

    I think HDB should follow the condo designs which is to remove bomb shelters from individual units and put it at the staircase instead. It is better because it is bigger and you can descend without SCDF assistance

    • @lzh4950
      @lzh4950 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The staircase would've to be enclosed, & maybe HDB is worried about crime/hanky-panky happening there, & finds it too expensive to cover it with CCTV?

    • @linzixuan29
      @linzixuan29 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hdb staircase is to prevent fire from spreading and killing people since there is good ventilation

    This is good for people with mobility challenge.
    But Stairways Bomb Shelter is the best effective design. Reduces the need to get help from rescuers.
    Coz in war, not all rescuers can reach all those who need them immediately. Thus, it saves a lot of people too

    • @jessicaregina1956
      @jessicaregina1956 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, in war you wait for rescuers you died. Any mass casualty event by itself will tax emergency services, and war is a series of mass casualty events. A big fire or whatever is big news in peacetime but routine in wartime.

    I always wondered , if lets say a 50 floor hdb gets bombed. It'll be quite funny to see one solid column remaining standing LOL. And the guy on the top floor will have a HECK of a view when he opens the door. Whereas the lower floor people... I doubt they'd be able to open the door.
    Nevertheless , it still helps to isolate where people are.

      Thats what I imagine too, I feel like its impractical for heavy bombing. Maybe protects against shelling and shrapnels.

      Maybe it's our next best option if the lifts & stairs are already jammed up with people heading to underground bomb shelters. & after an initial impact from an attack, maybe people sheltering in household shelters are supposed to then head to underground shelters before the building collapses?
