    With a harness horse, Moroccan Queens blinder set up would be called a "Can't See Back" bridle, for obvious reasons. They focus the horse a little more forward.

    I always thought blinkers just helped the horse to focus on what’s ahead of them. Nice to learn there’s so much more blinkers do! Also, great old school feeling here, love it. You know your horses!

    It is such a delight to watch veterans like yourself , explaining such intricate details that people should be aware of, prior to participating in horse racing. Charmed. Stay blessed.

    Why do race horses wear blinkers? So you can tell if they’re turning left or right!

    Thanks for this video, Jay. I thought blinkers were simple, but there's a little more to them than what I already knew.

    Great information Jay! I always thought they should be called "winkers" on fillies and mares. Aristeia and
    Moroccan Queen are both beautiful girls. They are in good hands with you.
    The two of them are fond of you,it's obvious from the other videos you've made with them. Somehow , I pictured you trying to do this video, initially with either or both for a demo, and constantly having your hat taken or multiple attempts to pick your pockets.
    I'm thinking out loud now. 🙂 I love what you do and wish I could have more a part in something like that. When I was younger ,I had horses . I miss it so much. You are doing a great job.
    Thank you

    Do shadow rolls work? Baffert uses them on just about everything, but I still see horses of his that carry there head high.

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Frankly, I agree with you, they don't work. Those little things Baffert uses are useless. He does a lot of things on every horse- hind bandages, shadow roll, ring bit, tongue tie... whatever.

    Could you use a blinker for one eye on a jumper? My OTTB had a cornial abscess on the right eye in the back of eye. We managed to save eye 😏 but he's got a blind spot back there now. He can get a bit animated sometimes I think he might just see shadows now toward back on that side. I was thinking about using a cup on that side so he doesn't act like a fool.

    • @JayCNehfracing

      I know absolutely nothing about jumpers.

    Thanks for the info. Question, what would you do with a horse that is super sensitive with their mouth? Like, the slightest pull back and they slow (almost seems like someone was training this horse as a casual riding horse, not a race horse).

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      #1 check its teeth and mouth. It may need its teeth floated.

      @@JayCNehfracing Yeah, we did. Didn't find anything that would be causing him pain. Unfortunately, this really hampers jockeys that aren't use to a horse like this.

      It takes a subtle balance. Fillies can be much more difficult to work with.
