I think any outsider in Bollywood is a threat regardless of nationality! They don’t let an outsider grow beyond a certain point! We all know that! Bollywood has a few production houses that has complete monopoly over the industry, that diminishes the light of other promising but low budget projects . That said, Fawad was part of that very system that monopolised Bollywood. He was working closely with one of the largest production companies I.e Dharma. He even won best debut, because he was already the favourite child of a popular film media group. There may have been jealousy over his success and his circle of “friends”, but it didn’t affect him or his career in Bollywood at all, until the political fiasco ensued!

It's not as if every outsider is always talented and actors from film families are less talented . (There are a lot of average actors who don't belong to film family but are doing well and considered good actors.) Bottom line is Favad is talented, much loved actor and as he is not Indian some people could manipulate the situation and made it difficult for him to work in India.

Threat ? This is one argument I hear quite often, that he became a threat for Bollywood superstars, got removed through politics and what not. Literally only a small section of urban people that too mostly young girls knew him and hyped him up for his role in ADHM and Disney's khoobsurat, he wasn't a household name somebody whose name can sell movies so he was casted in multistarers, he got a few good roles as supporting actors quickly because he got within influential group of Karan Johar, I don't think anyone would call that a threat. It isn't anybody's fault either, most producers used to see him for his following in Pakistan so they could sell tickets there, once the movies got banned there that incentive was gone and producers didn't want to take that risk. Otherwise movies with other pakistani talent say Mahira and Saba released after he left and done well here.
