    When spreading and smoothing silicone alcohol works amazingly well for that.
    I build custom solar charge controllers that automatically reconfigure the solar array so that you meet the minimum voltage needed for charging. Each panel is wired directly into the controller junction box and it will decide what to do based on the voltage of each panel and it can run them all in series or parallel groups.

    Hi Doug.
    I've been using Carabiners .. Clog quick gate .. for decades for mooring while crusing and going through locks..
    I suggest you angle the solar panels at the Sun south-ish .. I realise you will need a bow and stern anchor .. angling them gives about 5 times the power output.

    Automation breeds complacency.
    Those who cannot create, will only destroy.
    Do you intend to power the sail wench remotely, or are the pedals a convenience?
    IMO it may be over complicated, due to operator having hands occupied.
    Why complicate such a basic directional spool valve, when occupying one/both hands is safer and eliminates dependence on a third system (highly prone to salt water)?
    Passive systems (ICE) create heat via pressure relief valves, active systems (electric motor cutout) use PRV as a safety component. The flow control valve has PRV should the workload cease, as FCV are normally based on Needle and Seat design. ie nothing goes though tank return on the FCV, until an overload creates back pressure. Reducing PR on FCV lowers the overload threshold.
    Please elaborate on having a tank return ball valve. Does it allow alternation between active and passive system flow?

    • @SVSeeker
      @SVSeeker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not considered a remote control for the winch, but yeah, that might be handy. Remote control my ass to the top of the mast. : )

    • @cheerdiver
      @cheerdiver ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SVSeeker My sentiment may not be clear. By using foot controls on the Harken, the operator can be tempted to handle the rope, by either hand. If the spool valve were manual, and far enough away, the operator is not having to rub and pat at the same time. Should a spring break, you're not SOL, esp at the top of the mast!
      IMO the foot pedal controller looks like a Pandora's Box/phil/cosmetics case, a decoration inviting trouble. Been wrong before.
      Has the SCUBA compressor been sourced w/ power? Running it in off a passive system would increase it's efficiency, as energy wouldn't be dumped by the PRV. Those two electric pumps should be plenty to run the SCUBA compressor. If you're not going gearbox, use a cogged belt (common timing belt, Gates makes a high performance Blue belt).
      Best of good fortune and safe sailing.

    Ok, I like have a question you are about perseverance of the water after your hydraulic spill, and what about your drilling and shaving of aluminum into the water that is not good is it .And yes, I give you permission to use my Name JamieLynn from Ohio.

    • @SVSeeker
      @SVSeeker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. I don't think perseverance is the word you're looking for, maybe pollution? And no, metal shavings are not a serious issue. We vacuum up the majority, but metal boats, barges, oil rigs, etc, loose pounds of anodes and other metals daily. As well as anchors, chain, tools, etc. It all came from the earth and it's on it's way back the second it's in salt water. Sportsmen loose hooks, weights, fishing lures, line, nets, bird shot, etc. And anyone living diving a car 10 miles a day or uses electricity is at the same impact level. So you have to choose your offense carefully so you do not include yourself.

      Next best seems to be Poplar that is made in Scandinavia.

      My local metal supplier has been cutting all of their aluminum stock with a vintage 12inch Delta radial arm saw for more than the 20 years ive been going there. They get the blade sharpened once a year and thats it.
