    100% agree. the serie seems to be very interesting.
    in my private opinion future garage is also for people who came through a lot of genres that became mainstream, who don't to listen to same tracks (with fake emotional vibe) again and again. This music (for the most part) has no vocals in it so you are able to find emotions in it yourself.
    can't wait for episode 2

    When it comes to field recording on a budget, the zoom h1n is fantastic little device. It has great sound capturing capabilities and it’s so tiny you can bring it everywhere. I try to always have it with me, together with some cheap in ear buds, a deadcat and a lightweight gorillapod you’re ready for some serious field recording sessions.

    One time I picked up a Burial album based on an Amoeba Records employee recommendation, but I have yet to sit in a dark room, laying on the floor listening to it to understand it.

    Hey Cam! Happy new year 2020, I hope this year will be even better in terms of health, independence and the flow of the creative juice! I am really looking forward to this series because it breaks the GAS-review marathon cycle that was going on for a while. Don't get me wrong, I think those reviews are the most informative and very enjoyable to watch. But the amount of the "aha!"-moments when you are taking a deep dive into a project or technique really wants me to get to it again.
    So with this series I might get some inspiration for my own project that I am trying to do at least a demo for this year. It will be so niche nobody will like it but I guess that's the downside of trying to stuff all your influences together into one thing ;D
    Cheers!

    • @VenusTheory
      @VenusTheory  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo! For sure, same to you! And yeah I was getting pretty tired of reviews haha, just happened to be a lot of review requests of stuff I really liked, and unfortunately I'm just one dude so it's hard to also do tutorials on top of that.
      Hope you enjoy the series though, should be good stuff!

    Really looking forward to the rest of this series, Cameron, so thanks for doing this. You mentioned some of the granular synths, but it might be worth noting Pigments 2 from Arturia with its new granular engine, and Straylight by Native Instruments, as well as Grain inside Reason. I'm off to check out some of those artists you talked about :-)

    • @VenusTheory

    I sort of stopped paying attention to a lot of the new genres a long time ago once I fell down the dub techno hole. I always produced ambient and cinematic tracks before I got into Dub Techno. I have always loved BURIAL. One of my favorites to be honest. Had no idea his sound evolved into anything else beyond dubstep. Thanks for the recommendations to check out. I’m a fan of more minimal moody broody stuff so hoping I’ll find some more of that in the genre.

    One name I would definitely have brought up is Sorrow. Sorrow's tracks like Never Too Far, Mourner, Kalypso etc had a high level of influence on the transition from the Burial / Four Tet sound to the modern, crisp, dreamy sound.

    Love the history lesson. Didn't really know there was so much to Future Garage. Also, that anecdote about introspection, inspiration, and creativity is a video on its own just waiting to happen.
    Btw, any plans to make BitWig workflow videos? Just got it, along with a Seaboard and there's a lack of videos around the DAW.

    • @VenusTheory
      @VenusTheory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! I feel like it's a pretty underrated genre for people who like more exploratory stuff and want something to really listen in detail to. And yeah I may do a video in the future more about the whole self awareness/inspiration thing.
      As for Bitwig, I may do some videos on it in the future - just have to sit down and decide on the subject matter!
