"This little squirrel I used to be slammed her bike down the stairs..." what an inspired phrase, among so many on the Star album. I was in college during this era, and it really rang true, sincere. It spoke to me in a magical way. That's such a rare talent. Thank you, Tanya.

“They put silver where her teeth had been, baby silver tooth she grins and grins….” Yep, fab lyrics & songwriting. Tanya’s an inspiration to many Gen X women. Loved her since then.

I know all this and more! So take your hat off, boy, when you're talking to me, and be there when I feed the tree.

She’s my hero. One of the best moments of my life was being picked by her to to come up on stage and sing not too soon with her. I couldn’t believe she pointed at me…. Just like the Springsteen vid. 😊

Saw the Breeders last week for the first although I've been a longtime fan. Diving back into Muses now...I just love them so much and The Real Romona is my favorite. Saw Muses three times in late 88/89. Met them too since I was in college radio at the time. All of them were so nice. No egos at all as far as I can tell. So committed to being great musicians and sharing their love of music. Exactly how it should be but too often is not. So thankful for them!

Tanya is hands down, imo, one of the best (if not THE best) talents to have come out of my generation. I'm beyond proud to have immediately loved her and her incredible vocal delivery. Of course, when she puts pen to paper...no one compares with her songwriting. It's just so unique, singular, dangerous, and never boring. she is a fantastic interview here, soooooo humble. You did a amazing job here!! cheers 🥂

She's definitely a credit to us earliest of Gen-X'rs! Always enjoy relistening to her music. The wife and I occasionally key up TH-cam videos of Belly and Throwing Muses and dance around our living room like we were young again. Spent a lot of time in Newport in the late '80's/early '90's, wish I would have caught an early show of Throwing Muses, or even seen them when they were playing the Boston scene.

Love Tanya ❤ I went to the 13 year itch 4AD event in London in 1993 and wore a Belly T shirt and got my CD signed by the Breeders at the same event 😊

Crazy that this interview has so few views and that your channel has so few subscribers! Really enjoy any interview with Ms. Donelly. She's a pretty fantastic person all around. Love Throwing Muses and Belly. Glad she and the gang from Belly still do some touring, so wish I could have made the show last October in Newport!!! Unfortunately we were out of town, moving one of our kids back east from Portland OR.
    Anyway... Great interview!

Oh, thank you both so much for this. I have to say when I had my first brush with the Muses (Fat Skier) it changed everything for me. And then this just seemed to blossom into so many bands and projects that it was almost too much to take in. Superb. And, Tanya, my god, what an astonishing musician (particular props for the guitar: nobody else seemed to be doing what you were) and singer/songwriter. Suddenly in the mid/late 80s music got very real for me. Thank you so much.

Great interview. I Played regular weekly gigs at the Blue Pelican back in the summer of '88. Thanks Jim McGrath. Love to hear all of it in Tanya's graceful words.

I want to know what happens at the end of she video recording of safari by the breeders did she mean to make tha5 squeak sound? Was it even the guitar that made all those funky sounds at the very end of the song?

She was drop dead gorgeous in the "Slow Dog" music video... The stylist and anyone else involved in her "look" for that video should get an award. They really brought out the very best in her for that one!

He didn't ask her about her experiences working with Catherine Wheel. I thought he would have?

@@WHJeffB It might have been? I know there was a video for it. And on Catherine wheels album. I simple felt that it was a worthy question to ask, that she could have elaborated on. It would’ve been interesting to have heard how that worked out.
