- Is Frederik Andersen the No. 1 goalie for the Carolina Hurricanes, or should the job be turned over to Pyotr Kochetkov in the future? The 2023-2024 season for the Carolina Hurricanes is officially a bust after the Carolina Hurricanes were ousted from the playoffs after losing Game 6 to the New York Rangers, 5-3, in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

best stretch of the season? Canes alternated PK and Freddie one game on, one game off. For almost a third of the season. Both keepers were over 93%....why did we suddenly decide we could "ride" Freddie? He's never been that guy. Never.
It's very hard to find a great goalie in NHL. There are not too many out there. Good luck for anyone trying to find one
I would like to see Kochetkov and Martin be our goalies for next season and Anderson can be on the scratch list.
Call up Trotz and send him a blank check for Saros...
In the 5 games Andersen played:
- Car put 177 SOG
- NY put 132 SOG
- each team scored 17 goals

Why isn’t he pulled after the third goal?
Mr. Anderson & Raanta were both good, (great sometimes), but they were never SPECTACULAR. Plus Anderson will be 35 @ the beginning of the season & I thought Kochetkov did a fantastic job as our main goalie during the season. I say make Kochetkov #1 next season & let Anderson be the back-up
Kooch is our #1 sell Freddy to Sharks or duck's they'll take him. Bring up our other Russian from khl is it?
That's not Freddie's fault, that's Rod's fault playing Freddie every game
I think the real problem here is that Carolina loses so many close games, the feeling is the solution is just one little move here, one little move there. The conundrum is that the games that are won by one goal can always be attributed to one lucky break, one bad call, one bad bounce, but when that happens 4 straight last year, and virtually this entire series, you have to ask yourself how many unlucky bounces, bad calls, bad breaks does the "luck" tell you that its more than just bad luck? At some point you have to tell yourself there is something inherently about the way this team plays that allows this kind of thing to happen much too often to call it "luck" anymore. If I were a Canes fan I would say its not one little tweak away, time to go in another direction. Keep your core young players, time for the 40 yr olds to find somewhere else, and when the young core is ready to hit, bring in the pieces to compliment it. As for Freddie he is a decent number 2. Some develop to number ones, but more often teams that take that number 2 and make them a number one dont usually do all that well come playoff time. Georgiev was Shesterkins number 2, bye Colorado. Talbot was Lundquists number 2, bye LA. But I still think he is only part of this.. A big part to be sure.

Anderson not the guy, him and Raanta couldn't get you the cup it's time for a changing of the guard for the future.

heck no Anderson isn't the goalie. Let way too many shots in. he dont have to be as good as Igor but at least half as good. If he stop half of the easy shots he does then Carolina wins. He gave up 2 easy ones last night plus Martinook bailed him out on another one that went right between his legs. The backup can't do worse, and has shown potential to be better. Get rid of Anderson, use the backup and take the money we save from not paying Anderson and put towards free agents.
This was the hurricane chance and they blew it. they choked it up.
Freddy was good enough too beat the rangers, fact is carolina didn't show up the first 3 games and played the rangers like they were playing the islanders and got behind 3 games too an elite ranger team
freddy partially to blame. offense did its job. scored about 3 every game on one of the best goalies in the league. should have been wins
Canes were two bad goals allowed by the Isles from needing 7 games to get out of first round. They got the puck luck round 1
I don't what world your living in but in in reality when came to him being diffcence between winning and loses he failed
You guys went for 1 of 18 or something on the powerplay. You had bigger issues than goal tending

Hurricanes will not be relevant for a long time. They had a run of 5-6 years but never won a cup never went to a Stanley Cup final very disappointing
