Teddy worked closely with Bigbang and 2NE1. It seemed during that time, he was able explore a plethora of genres and different styles with 2ne1. whilst I also listen to blackpink, there is now a...call it a formula to their songs which, you can kind of hear with the main singles after Du du du du.
That being said, I think he explored so much more with 2ne1 who were able to pull off so many genres with their unique style, where as it seems that maybe Teddy might be having burn out or at least sticks to the formula with blackpink.
2ne1 lives are NO JOKE. I have seen them live twice and the way they perform, you won't find these days.
They made a surprise comeback in 2022 at Coachcella and slayed... another good live to check out.

You should also watch 2NE1's live performances starting with their performance on MAMA 2015.
CL wanted to write songs for 2NE1 but wasn't allowed to until their last album 🙄. She participated in writing Crush, Baby I Miss You and Scream as well as two other tracks: If I Were You and her solo track on that album MTBD. Yes Teddy wrote the overwhelming majority of 2NE1's songs, they were kind of his project really.
Crush is just that song. It's insane live, the energy is so high!
Just as a fun fact at the end of Crush when they are chanting "놀자!" (Nolja sometimes romanised as Nolza, translates to Let's Play!) that was kind of their catchphrase. Their first tour was called the Nolza tour
Yeah their To Anyone album came out at the height of the 'deliberate autotune sound' fad in the west and 2NE1 had a more western sound than most kpop groups at the time so tended to follow those trends. Pretty much every song on that album is full of vocal effects 😂
Scream was actually originally a title track for their Japanese album. You can go check out the MV if you want (it's iconic), there's also a Japanese MV for Crush.

A little fun fact, Minzy and CL now owns tgeir own respective labels. Minzy's called MZ Entertainment and CL's Very Cherry. Minzy also owns a dance academy and some 3rd gen and 4th gen idols are her former students.

Yep, 2ne1 was swearing in their music before it became popular in kpop. I second everyone else that you NEED to watch them live. That's where they shine the most. You were listening to a lot of their b-sides from their first album which came in out in 2009. At the time autotune was everywhere which explains its large presence in these songs.
2NE1 really sold me on their live performances back in the day. their stage presence is out of this world! I can't wait for your CL reaction(hoping for a live performance also)!

Pretty boy, Love is Ouch, I'm busy,, Crush and Hate You are my favorite b-sides!!! At that time it was a big fan war between SONEs (Girls' Generation fans) and Blackjacks (2NE1 fans) while I was a SONE-Blackjack lol I absolutely love both groups.
both groups are fantastic and have their own unique flavor which I love! I'm a big Multi Stan on groups so it always baffles my mind on fan wars lol

CL is basically one of the absolute best female Rappers in Korea, even being recognized internationally. She has several collabs with international artists, Like Black Eyed Peas and even Method Man, from Wu-Tang Clan, who appeared in her music Video of a Cover she made of one of his songs (Lifted). Her solo discography is absolutely amazing, you REALLY should include her in your Soloist series, since she is possibly doing a Comeback this year, finally, after her Last full album in 2021 (which was a No Skip Album) ❤

Since you liked CL's slow/low rap style, I definitely recommend you check out her song Siren if you havent given it a listen. You get to hear a nice blend of her singing voice and that low, softer rap style. One of my favorites on the Alpha album!

I believe that they somehow wrote/contribute lyrics specially CL, cuz no man can describe a womans mind, feelings, experience like that. Remember those 2ne1 tv scene when the other girls go home while CL have to stay in studio, theres no way CL wont contribute a single idea on lyrics and beats. I know she contribute on their early songs but was not credited. Just like what lydia said CL got a good beats and writing and CL even said that she want the " I am the best beats" and she got a hook but no verses.

I cant stand bp, blackpink actually poached a lot of 2ne1 songs they didn't get to release as well as rejected. And 2ne1 actually worked on their songs together. Yg actually said he intended on copying 2ne1 when making black pink, just to make them more beautiful to men and for them to be more manageable.
It's not Blackpink's fault. They didn't poach songs, 2NE1 was disbanded by the time the songs were repurposed for Blackpink. Remember, they were rookies at the time and had virtually no say in anything. If you want to blame anyone, blame the board of YGE, for dungeoning 2NE1 and not looking after Minzy properly (denying her a solo, when she had been with the company since 11 years old and basically giving them her whole life up to that point) so that she became depressed and didn't renew. Blackpink weren't responsible for YGE's decision to disband 2NE1 and worshipped the ground 2NE1 walked on. You can see how much Rose respects Park Bom in particular - every time she gets a free choice of a song she always picks You and I. Bom herself says that Blackpink had nothing to do with their disbandment and holds no ill will against them and is happy for their success. Let's just hope the members can obtain the rights to the 2NE1 name and catalogue and can arrange a full comeback on their own terms.

Rose singing Bom's songs furthers the back stabing and profiting off of 2ne1, 2ne1 had no say in that, and receive no compensation for their work being used. Its that behavior that is not cool. 2ne1 memebers used to get upset at the meantion of black pink, they aren't on good terms.
