    Novak never stays this close to the baseline defending. That would be either in offensive or neutral situation. He moves way back defending big forehand shots

      True. I wouldn't call any of those shots defending.

    Remember this is a drill - she's hitting a bunch of defensive balls at her feet over and over again to practice it. In a real match, you'd only have to play maybe 1 or 2 of these and the next ball will be either short or a more normal ball where you'd be in a less defensive position.

    I believe that what Mr. Annacone calls the "Novak" was originated by the Queen of doing this and the originator Monica Seles.
