From a stacking point then buying a coin that is my birth date as i paid over premium however it would be one of the last ones to be disposed of. It was not though bought solely for investment purposes. Not stacking enough as i never thought that Gold would rise in price as quickly as it has.
Ive yet to get a birthdate coin, but it's going to happen. Probably a Krug, which incurs tax here, so not exactly best value. There's other stuff in the stack id sell last though, than some old Krugerrand. heh.
I love the sheildback sovereigns as well as the jubilee and old head Victoria's, also picked up a 2002 Elizabeth sheildback, just getting back to collecting sovereigns now that im back in the UK now thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍
Kind of sucks if a dealer wont pay more for a shield, they certainly charge more for them! My mistake was with my first sovereign, ordering from bullionbypost and not shopping around, could have saved some money, premium was high and not a good condition sovereign. Actually my biggest mistake was not starting to stack 20 years ago.
Another great video and point of view, personally I have stacked since 2021 regularly 1oz gold britannia and best value sovereigns and if I do say so my stack is looking very nice, and a healthy cost average profit😊..Love your videos, you put me onto sovereigns years ago, so glad I found your channel..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've always had lovely coins from BBP. Also their service is the best I've had consistently even during the lockdowns so don't mind paying a few quid more there but I've not sold to them for a few years. Like you say with shields most dealers don't skimp on their margins often 🤣
@@SovereignSaurus I haven't bought a best value sovereign from bullion by post, so maybe the quality is really good, the george v I got from them was heavily marked which was disappointing. Price wise currently their best value is £460, versus $444 and £438 from Atkinsons and ATS respectively. Doesn't make sense to me, but maybe I'm missing something
@@SovereignSaurus Hi Sir, yes you are right. I ordered a coin tube on ebay and should be the same as yours. By the way I received two new Sovereigns and are quite pretty. Year 1890 and 1893 with Queen Victoria 😍Thanks for your support!
Oooh that would be a nice choice. I've still never bought any. Occasionally see bits come up here and there but I feel like I either need a decent pile or not to bother 🤔
If you get a good rate then it would probably be a good trade into CGT free sovs. Consider the fine gold content you'll end up with though... For eg 190g is almost 26 full sovs worth of gold... I wouldn't swap it for 20 sovs as it's too low and to me doesn't seem worth losing the gold content but you might be able to swing a deal for part of them or all with cash to balance it
Ever the connoisseur,SS🎉. Some beautiful eye candy you have🙆♂️🙆♂️. I always get excited when I see the George sovs. ( have you thought any more about removing the mounts from them?). Thanks for sharing 👌
I just bought some silver. That's my biggest mistake from an investing point of view. But I really like the coins, 2023 germania mint golden eagle's. It wasn't about hoping to make a profit on them, I had an itch to scrach 😅 Thats my first ever silver. Now I want some of the 2024 golden eagle's. I should really have bought some more sovereigns instead. At least I like the coins enough that I won't want to sell them any time soon.
Hi mate I did leave a message on one of your older videos so I thought I would leave one here to. Would like your help with something (I’m new to gold stacking) With my budget I’m looking at 1/4oz coins so Sovereigns, I’m looking at newer sovereigns, Currently the 1/4oz Britannia premium is around the 8-9% mark so that’s why I’m going with sovereigns, can I ask, what would you say is currently a good premium for sovereigns? I was thinking around 3-5% but I wanted to get your input. Thank you, Steve
Yeah in some ways I wish I started sooner but I was diverting my money into other investments which have performed very well. We didn't know what we didn't know though right?
Yeah it's funny when I started buying gold in 2018 someone said they were waiting for a sovereign under £200 'again' we never got there and now they're £430 plus
@@SovereignSaurus I did hit the silver hard when it dropped to $20.98. Found a premium sale, 51% off too. $23.10 all in. Should have bought the gold too.
Bought silver, in uk its ridiculous, in my defence it was pre vat days , but premiums were daft and silver almost never out performs gold and when it does its for only the breifest of time scales .
I just started by my biggest mistake was buying a 1/10 oz platinum Britannia. The premium was high but the coin was calling my name. I have since traded it for something better but my love for britannia's is never ending. Britannia's in my opinion are the most beautiful constitutional silver out there right now
I love how he’s just describing himself becoming a collector 😂❤️

Lovely taste in coins 👍🏼
buying numismatic coins was a bit of a mistake because they are harder to sell in order get back your premium
Potentially although vast majority is best value bullion and bought at favourable prices it could easily get out of hand
@@SovereignSaurus I meant in my stack
9:04 great video. 3 more specific ones to get and best value from then on.
I like that plan

Dear Mr. Saurus, which coin tubes are you using for your Sovereign? Do you use to capsul them and than store in the tubes? Thanks sir.
There's a link in the description of the video. Some are in capsules and then in tubes most are just loose in tubes though

I bought fractional Silver when I first started stacking
Hope it's looking after you well!
I keep revisiting platinum after selling out to buy gold, 4th revisit on order now, a QB 1oz platinum lion.
This time its for keeps.
Oooh that would be a nice choice. I've still never bought any. Occasionally see bits come up here and there but I feel like I either need a decent pile or not to bother 🤔
Non yet, but I've only been at it for 9 months. Might convert 190g of bars to sovereigns though. Any thoughts?
Buying bars is a mistake for a stack, it's fine for a collection.

To be honest I've not had chance to take them anywhere. It's still on the to-do list 🤣

Yeah having a little silver as a bit of a collection shouldn't do much harm I like silver to look at but for me I stick to gold 😎

Same as a previous comment said , not starting 25years ago. My £5k dvd collection now worth £5 lol i think gold was £300oz back then 😢
Yeah in some ways I wish I started sooner but I was diverting my money into other investments which have performed very well. We didn't know what we didn't know though right?
Only mistake I can think of is not buying a bunch of gold when it hit $1630 last (maybe for the last time LOL). That still stings.

At least if it does turn out to be a mistake you only bought the one... Not like you've got 20k tied up just in premiums or something 😁
My only mistake was not buying Bitcoin instead.
Unless you can see the future diversification can be a good plan
buying 1/10 oz coins and selling those 1/10 oz coins. The irony...
🤣
Mistake 1 (and only) ….. stacking GLD and not staking BTC ;))
no, normal people buy gold
I'll say I am happy that I don't have all my eggs in a gold basket
