The only thing I don't like about my soft top is the dripping with the window down more than 1/2". I work security and sit it it all night, and it sucks with the Florida rain, it'll drip for ever until the top is dry. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the soft top. We love ours.
Krista, thanks for the cleaning tips! And as a Midwest girl too, I can attest, the top holds up in snow! August will be a year for me and my girl doesn't go in a garage (yet ... middle of the teardown and build!). So my soft has seen torrential rain and three 12+ inch snow storms this past winter. Granted, I did go out every few hours to get the heavy accumulated snow off when I could, but NO leaks, it's still black in color and I am just now *possibly* seeing that sticky panel come undone after a year. So, yes, pretty pleased myself! Keep up the great videos Bronco Girl!!!
I hate this dripping inside about the softop. Asked the dealer he they said it’s a bad design. So is there any way around it? Ford should pay for a trek top. Only got the soft because I got the bronco earlier. My wrangler was way better!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only.one who has hit the top on my garage door frame. I have done it twice in my 21 Black Diamond with SAS pkg but backing in and that's a hard stop. Yet no damage to my top at all but damage to the house! Lol
I could watch that garage crash 1000 times and i would still cringe each time. That sound 😮. Good review of the soft top. You have put it thru the test in many ways and it's still looking good. Thanks and fyi... I'm now at 604 days and counting. Thanks again
Huge tip on cleaning the soft top! I’m happy with my soft top. I did order a hard top from Advanced Fiberglass Concepts. It’s supposed to come in sometime in October.
@@chrisrob722 It will be a little over $7,000 including shipping from California to Florida. It is now not expected to ship until December. I have heard ordering a hardtop with all the parts through the dealer is north of $11,000.
I have a 21 Big Bend, 2.3L, Auto, soft top. Living in Virginia with snow and ice; I found it best if any type of ice, freezing rain, sleet is going to be falling. To put a tarp over the windshield and at least the front part of the top and front windows. When the ice freezes at the belt line, the windows do not want to roll down. Since I do not have a garage. A tarp and 550 cord was an easy fix. I will probably get a bigger tarp next year to cover the front and back doors. We had 8-10 inches of snow on it a couple of times and some freezing rain a few times and it held up great. I am loving my soft top. I am 90% over the extra noise. And no problem with no Garage :)
@@evanimdorf5380 Hi, I love my 2.3L. It has great throttle response and pulls great up the mountains here in Virginia. Sport mode holds the gears to a higher RPM and gives you a lot better lunch. I seldom use it - I use eco mode most of the time and I am averaging 19.5 in the winter and 20.2 to 20.7 here in the summer. Note: I run the OEM wheels and tires, so I am not pushing unnecessary extra weight. I also have 18,500 miles on my Big Bend and love it.
I have the 2.3 as well and just pulled a 1,500 pound trailer with kayaks, bikes, luggage for 15 hours (one way) on a trip and it did really well. And my MPG was still 17-18 like normal. I'm currently at 13k miles.
I, too, have the 2.3L - but with the manual. I love it. Plenty of torque for off roading and power for the freeway. And it sips gas while on the trail.
Loving the soft top as well and 99.9% in position 1. Can completely confirm the FL sun is brutal and my soft top is showing some early signs of peeling (after only 5 months) so keeps me in the garage and seeking out shady parking. Since she’s garage kept, I can’t help but recall your mishaps nearly every time I pull into the garage. Great job by Asher keeping those incidents down to one hand ;) I almost backed in once with it in position 1…almost and thought, yup, that was way easier to do than I thought, especially when fun gets in the way!
I think you’re right they are built Ford tuff. I’ve had more than a couple feet of snow on mine from overnight storm and recently a bear peeled back the corner of it a couple weeks ago and punctured it, and broke a cable. Not bad.
Love your videos! Thank you for sharing your insights! Earlier this year, I took delivery of a new 2021 Bronco Badlands 4-door with the soft top. And I have to say that I love the vehicle...including the soft top aspect! Of course, thirty some years ago, I bought a '90 Mustang 5.0 LX convertible (which I still have stashed away) so I am familiar with the soft top thing! That said, my Bronco is much more refined in terms of body rigidity, top structure rattling and wind noise than my Mustang. I did have a problem with the top to start with. One morning soon after purchase, I found a starling flying around the interior (!) leaving the attendant mess! Glad I have the vinyl interior without carpet! I discovered that a rivet securing the forward tension cable on the driver's side had failed, leaving it easy to breach the top seal into the vehicle. The dealer noted that the rivet was on backorder, so I found an appropriate nut and bolt to neatly fix it. In the repair effort, I lowered and raised the top, fully, many times...so at least I acquired plenty of experience in that procedure. Haven't had a problem since. Also, totally by chance, I happened to notice an open 2" x 1.5" hole machined into the firewall next to the brake master cylinder just a few days ago. Totally open between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. Another potential critter entry point. Unbelievable! A little online search revealed others receiving new Broncos with this hole unplugged; apparently, the hole serves as the pass through for the clutch used in manual transmission models. I am now awaiting receipt of the appropriate plug from Ford. Actually, I think I might recall a peculiar rubber plug loose in the glovebox, which made no sense at the time. I can't remember where I put it; possibly I threw it away! Meanwhile, I stuffed the hole with a leather glove to keep things out. Oh well...still a great rig! Ken Lewis
Awesome video. I'm actually trying to decide between a soft top badlands with packages I want or a pretty much base wildtrak with a hardtop. This video answer a lot of my soft top questions.
Just now watching this. Good advice on cleaning. I have seen yours dirty so I know if anyone knows how to clean it, its you ;) Glad your top is doing well. I haven't had any trouble with mine either. Congrats on the magazine article. I need to check that out!

Generally happy with my soft top with one exception - the passenger side latch that's supposed to hold the top when folded down is reluctant to engage. You can get it to latch but then if you do, the handle on the driver's side is EXTREMELY difficult to push down and release...
Love my soft top. But after all your videos, you've scared me from doing the half down. Mine is either fully down or fully up all the time. I am thinking about putting something on the garage door opener to remind me so I can do it.

Why not scotch guard the top . They sell a spray at Walmart to water proof tents and boots. Wondering if it will work on the top and help keep it more resistant to the elements. Kiwi makes it in a spray can if I remember correctly.
MY 23 bronco soft top has an additional seem running along the top on the side, This helps reduce the amount of water from leaking. I don't see that on most tops. Maybe ford fixed it for the new models.

What kind of peeling? South florida here so i want to keep an eye out for any sun damage over time.
With an 8’ door you can drive right in with the top 1/2 back even with a 3” lift.
