I have been living my life with all of these. CVS is great for getting deals! I grew up never using paper plates or napkins. Always cloth napkins and towels and china plates. When I first met my best friend I almost freaked out when all she used were paper plates, paper towels for napkins and plastic utensils. Wow I’m sure my mother was spin in her grave 😂. But I didn’t judge! And she laughed when I told her never used them. Close to 15yrs later and we still respect each other’s differences!
I love these tips and use quite a few. Tea towels, cloth napkins, etc. I thrifted enough plates and silverware so that I would have enough if my entire family came over (right at 20 people), which they do often. We have all of our family parties at my house. It cuts the waste down so much!
I’m not from the USA and don’t truly understand how coupons work but it is obvious to me just how much manufacturers mark up products if there is so wiggle room to bring the prices down with coupons. Wouldn’t it be fairer and more equitable for all if the prices were simply lower across the board ?
When I was couponing CVS was the store where I REALLY saved ! The best I ever did using coupons , was extra Care bucks, matching them up with coupons and free items . I wound up getting 3 carts full for less than $1.00 and I still got more Extra care buck on my next purchase . I was so proud of myself and I heard the lady behind me say I wanna do what she did . I spent a LOT of time on this trip and was very tired but it was worth it and I’ll never forget it. You did great and saved a lot too and I just love all your videos thank you.
Glad I'm not the only one who uses those containers! We often joke in our house about actually opening the containers to see what's inside...just because it says "sour cream" doesn't mean that's what's in there! LOL
I keep a roll of masking tape and a sharpie marker in my plastic bag drawer for labeling and dating those reused containers. Reused containers are great for sending home food to others after large gatherings as you don't need them back.

I used to coupon years ago when the newspaper had physical coupons and loved going to CVS on Sundays. I remember getting three packages of 6 count paper towels for 1 and change each 😂 I feel like it almost competitive to coupon all those years ago since many would be hunting for the same deals 😅 it was fun though and I saved so much money!
I couponed a lot more when the paper coupons were good, too. 10 years ago, we had a grocery store that doubled coupons up to $1, and the deals were incredible!
The CVS deals were amazing! I've never really tried that type of couponing before. It might be worth a shot since there is a CVS within walking distance of my house.
Exactly. Bulk is not always cheaper per unit on everything. Also, sometimes, it might not make sense either because you can eat that much quick enough. I'm always comparing sales as well. Bogo isn't always cheaper. Neither is generic. Aldi block cheese has been $1.75 on sale in my area lately. That's .25cents cheaper than gv block cheese. We just got an HEB in our area too. That's a Texas based chain. They are cheaper on lots of items & I got $15 free with combo locos & grand opening promos. The block cheese was more than at walmart & aldi, though even in generic. It pays to shop around as long as the stores aren't too far from home that they eat up your gas budget.
We're a household of 4. I order toilet paper from Costco without a membership bc we like it the most. It's worth it to have it shipped every 6-7 months, then I don't have to travel to a Costco! Saves me time, gas, and the membership fee! And overspending at the store! I order 4 cases at a time to get free shipping. There is a $4.70 fee for the non membership surcharge, but it's worth it to me.

Easy house cleaner. Vinegar! Cleans and disinfects everything. Another easy one is Castile soap but don’t mix vinegar and Castile soap. If I just use those I only have to buy a glass cleaner because I haven’t found a good combo of anything yet 😢. Castile soap can be used for laundry also
I only buy a roll or two of paper towels and only use for cat messes, which are infrequent, and I make that roll or two last a long time. All else I use cloth rags. I have only ever used cloth napkins for my family and wash them as needed. Years ago I stumbled across a sale of cotton cowboy-style bandanas at Walgreens for .25 or .50 each, I think. I stocked up and that is what we use now. They are soft and easy to toss in a local of dark laundry. I never use paper plates.
Wow !! You are the CVS queen of the deals !! I had no idea so much money could be saved using their coupons ! This is an eye opening video Mindy !! Thank you for teaching us how it’s done !!!
I hand out the dish towels for napkins as well. I only use a paper towel for something gross like cat barf! I don't fry food so don't need them to absorb grease. My laundry room is right by the kitchen so k just toss them directly in the washer. Since they aren't greasy I just wash them with any load. Would use the PT to clean outside of toliet etc.
When I do One load of laundry- my electric usage goes up Exponentially! Electric washer and dryer. I am frugal and only wash my clothes maybe every 10 days- but there are the times I need to wash bedding. My children are now grown and live on their own, but I was once doing a minimum of 2-3 loads of laundry a day for my family of 8. I went back to bar soap from body wash. SO much less expensive! I bought a 12 pack of Dove bar soap on sale- well over 10 months ago and Still have 6 bars left! It's just me using it but I shower daily.
CVS has the best customer rewards hands down. They are constantly sending me 30-40% off coupons, $4-10 off purchases and things like that. And this evening they stacked two 30% off one item coupons! I didn't even know that two were loaded on my card, much less that it would apply both! With my rewards, the bottle of Mylanta I went to buy went from $12 to $2 and I honestly went in thinking I'd get it for about $9. Don't sleep on the CVS rewards people!
I don't combine household/personal care/pets with food. I find it's too easy to spend a lot of money and then say " Why don't we have any food?" I know it works for some people, just not for me. I'd run two receipts.
One thing about bulk-buying at Sam's Club/Costco...the "deals" are great but...if you don't have room to store them at home......ask yourself, "do I have room to store these Deals?" Rant over.
Also if you wont be able to use something before it goes bad (perishable items). There are lots of fresh items I buy at Costco because I know my family can eat them before they go bad. Other things need to be smaller packages so farmers market is better
This! I don’t do Costco or Sam’s. I don’t have the storage room plus I know I would overbuy to get the best deals. Not for me. Also I refuse to pay a membership fee in order to shop.
We are empty nesters-when I go to Sam’s I split perishable items with my Mother in law and sometimes paper products with a friend who is also an empty nester.
I love Sams Club and even though I am single the price per unit is fantastic and I stock up for winter I do not like going out in the winter here in Ohio.. snow and ice are common along with germy people. I have 5 dogs so I use a lot of dog food Sam's has the best price so not only do I shop for a big bag of dog food, I will also stock extra in the fall to carry me through the winter months I have large storage vaults for that purpose and I never want to be caught like the pandemic with not being able to get dog food for my girls those were crazy times as people wandered around like Zombies trying to find items they needed. Anna In Ohio
Oh my gosh the advertisers for cleaning products! They are insane. Why do people believe them when they tell you you need a different cleaner for every room of the house? I just noticed that my toilet bowl clean says it's good for cleaning the toilet AND the toilet brush? Who KNEW? Can't believe they don't sell two different products for that job.
advertising/marketing there are people who's jobs are to make you feel like you need to buy a product, they will use any form of manipulation to sell a product. Guilt, shame, time, etc to influence your dollars. Most cultural norms that people take for granted can be traced back to an advertising campaign that is now embedded into societal norms, we just keep doing it/ buying it because we always have at this point.
My mom stopped buying paper napkins way back in 2008/2009 because a pack of 200 or so was over a dollar. I should mention that pack was not named brand. Since I’ve been eating cottage cheese and yogurt more, I should reuse those containers more often.
Last summer I saw one of your videos featuring waterdrop that was available at Walmart. I kept keeping an eye out on them. I was wanting to get them however I didn’t really need them. Back in the spring I went down the clearance aisle. I saw the Waterdrop bottles for $10. I’d rather pay that amount rather than 25 for the tumblers.
I used to coupon at CVS when there were paper coupons. May have to try again! What is your favorite laundry detergent? And I presume your cloth napkins are made out of cotton? LOVED this video!
I loved all of your ways of not using paper and plastic products . I would do a lot of those too. But when it came to you talking about the coupons it was as if you started talking a new language I’d never heard before and didn’t understand. I went blank!! But well done for saving money or what ever you did there!!!
Yes! I used to be in charge of the personal care items for the donation drive we did at Christmas. I would save some things to send to that. Diapers were a big requested donation item, too.
Mindy, I hope you're also combining these deals with Ibotta and Fetch. Alot of the items you have bought are giving you cashback or points. Something you probably already know just figured I would mention it.
Some things to consider: CVS regular prices are very inflated. I notice they tend to over inflate the price then put items on “sale”. But with rolling the extra care bucks there are definitely deals.
I don't have much room for bulk/ over stock storage. 😫 Also, I wish I could rotate my deodorant and shampoo like that, but were a house of 3, all with sensitive skin. I've only found 1 deoderant that works for me anymore. Lume. They do have deals, though. It comes out to 11 a stick that lasts about 3 mos. Plus, i have curly hair & only one shampoo line seems to keep my hair healthy & less frizzy. It's not too expensive, though & i get deals at Target for it. That's the only retailer that sells it. That stuff does stink. As for razors, I'm able to use the billie razors & no longer need to shave cream as a result. That has saved tons.
I would like to try your technique to use kitchen towels and cloth napkins but my question is how do you was them? On hot or cold, with or without bleach ? I find my kitchen towels stain easily and so I tend to use paper towels more often to prevent stained cloth towels.
Mindy do you have a CVS Carepass Membership? I do:) It costs $49 a year and they give you $10 per month of free money(simple math on savings!!). You also get 20% off all CVS brands. I watch the deals/sales and use my carepass rewards with them. For instance-they had a buy one get one free on a vitamin. When I used my $10 with the sale it was $1.63 total for two bottles. I have amazed staff with my savings techniques:) And if people are paying attention to your video you have PRINTED RECEIPTS! It makes it fast to see your deals AND you need them to scan to Fetch anyway lol!
I like your ideas for couponing. I know the brands are not always perfect but I get alot of these kinds of products at the Dollar Tree. Also I have found some store brands of stuff on amazon and local grocery store.
Hi Mindy, the couponing is really fascinating. I am from Germany and I don't think it works this way here. There are similar things though. But I really wanted to say how thrilled I am on your take on paper products. Years ago I joined an international frugal moms facebook group and I almost got kicked out of it because I accidentially caused a big commotion. I noticed that many people posted pictures of their frugal meals, but the food was on paper plates. I postet about this, wondering how can that be frugal? It was as if I had punched a bee's nest. I really did not intend that string of reactions. I am about to be 43 years old and in my childhood in eastern Germany paper plates simply did not exist. I had never heard of such things. Of course later they did exist but in my family and all people I know nobody whould come to the idea to use paper plates in the regular day to day to save washing dishes. For big parties we even tended to asked family members to bring over a stack of dishes or cutlery if we did not have enough.
I use paper towels for jobs that require cleaners & things that stain badly, like grease, red drink mixes, wine & pasta sauce or bathroom cleaning & first aid (blood). Other than that, I use hand towels too.
The dollar aisle at DG can be great. I love the charcoal toothpaste. You can also get many other personal hygiene items. Just be aware of sizes. My all purpose cleaner in a mixture of Dawn original blue, rubbing alcohol, and water. Works great on hard surfaces, excluding wood. I also like it on mirrors but not windows. And don't forget Dollar Tree. I haven't met a bottle of Fabuloso I haven't liked. They have some new off brand bathroom and toilet cleaners that are getting good reviews, though I haven't tried them yet.
I make my own deodorant safer for my body with very simple ingredients. It works so much better on odors doesn't stop the sweating though. I use castile soap alot for hand washing I diluted it and use in my foaming soap pumps.
Be careful about the toilet paper from Sam’s Club. We have our toilet paper roll next to a window where you can see the sunlight reflecting off all the dust particles in the air and the amount of dust that comes off of the Sam’s club toilet paper rolls when you use them that your breathing in is insane.
My closest CVS is a bit out of the way, but I may start looking into their deals more now. DG is also a great one for deals if you know what you’re doing. I got a 2 pack of fancy toothbrushes and three tubes of toothpaste for 13 cents- retail was originally $16.50 🤑
I really wish there was a way to save money on necessities without the very large TIME INVESTMENT. Most of these budgeting videos suggest shopping different stores, watching for sale/clearance items, coordinating coupons, etc. TIME is the thing I don't have to spend.
I am trying to get better about not buying paper towels plates that kind of thing I was wondering on the water drop does it leave an aftertaste so many of the water flavors do and I hate that please let me know. Thank you. Love your channel.
I need to go back to CVS. The $ store has name brand tooth patse for 1.25 too. I can buy all my L'Oréal cheaper at CVS. WALMART is so high on these items!
For a long time, I couldn't figure out the couponing game, always would end up overspending and get items I'd never use. I've finally mastered it, at least through digital coupons and sales at Meijer, Giant Eagle, and Walgreens. You really do need to use math and sit and plan extensively. I understand now why the ladies (or men) would spend a lot of time going through the flyers and calculating everything. I've tried CVS, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the extra care bucks...
I've heard a lot of jokes about the long long cvs receipts, but those coupons are great. I even saw someone made a Halloween costume out of the cvs receipts 😂😂😂
We've had a Sam's Club membership for about 13 years and I haven't bought TP, paper towels, trash bags, ziploc bags, dog food, cat food, cat litter, razors or feminine products from anywhere else.
😅 I spilled some pop on the counter. I looked at the paper towel, looked at the kitchen towel and thought "what would Mindy do?".
I keep sponges under my kitchen sink for spills or floor messes

Wow, thank you for the compliment! Glad it was helpful. :)
My MIL loves cloth napkins and uses them every day for every meal
I love to find deals on those as gifts for her.
Your hair looks gorgeous! Thanks for all the tips 😊
Excellent video Mindy! Thank you for the info!
For my daily kitchen towels I use flour sack cloths. They are very affordable.
Just curious, are the CVS products you purchased ones that you use regularly or are they being bought because you have a coupon?
I don't combine household/personal care/pets with food. I find it's too easy to spend a lot of money and then say " Why don't we have any food?" I know it works for some people, just not for me. I'd run two receipts.
I have two budgets for that.
I also keep groceries separate
I feel the same way
I agree. I have two separate budgets as well
One thing about bulk-buying at Sam's Club/Costco...the "deals" are great but...if you don't have room to store them at home......ask yourself, "do I have room to store these Deals?" Rant over.
Very true.
Dawn, bleach, and vinegar are my go to fir cleaning.
CVS hauls were like the song that doesn't end
Great video, thank you!
A simple all purpose cleaner can be made with 70% alcohol and water. Midwest magic cleaning has the recipe.
You're a wizard when it comes to shopping thr coupons and sales at CVS!
So true! I only use, baking soda, washing soda, dawn, or vinegar plus a little elbow grease.
Wow Mindy you did really well, with coupon savings.
I buy very large vertions of say dish soap at a home depot or lowes and fill up a smaller bottle to same money.
Saw on the news that Walgreens is going to close down some stores becuz there are 2 many. This video is a clear indication why.
I used to coupon at CVS when there were paper coupons. May have to try again!
What is your favorite laundry detergent? And I presume your cloth napkins are made out of cotton? LOVED this video!
Thank you for the video. Great tips!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
I loved all of your ways of not using paper and plastic products . I would do a lot of those too. But when it came to you talking about the coupons it was as if you started talking a new language I’d never heard before and didn’t understand. I went blank!! But well done for saving money or what ever you did there!!!
I’ve just never gotten used to going to Walgreens, CVS, and DG for their coupons. I mainly do all my couponing at my Kroger store.
This is also a great way to buy products for the homeless/underserved.
Yes! I used to be in charge of the personal care items for the donation drive we did at Christmas. I would save some things to send to that. Diapers were a big requested donation item, too.
I am one person purchasing humungous bottles of Shapoos, conditioners are just not for me ! But, I do stock up on certain items so I dont run out.
THIS!!!!
Awesome video Mindy. I love couponing at CVS
I like your ideas for couponing. I know the brands are not always perfect but I get alot of these kinds of products at the Dollar Tree. Also I have found some store brands of stuff on amazon and local grocery store.
Wow! That CVS shopping was great. Thank you.
Thanks for this video! You have convinced me to start shopping CVS for deals!
I love couponing at CVS!!
Remember you never, ever mix bleach or bleach base products with ammonia or ammonia base products.
and don't wash the cat litter box with bleach either...lesson learned years ago
Wow dude! So that’s how to do CVS! Can’t wait to try it! I love all your glasses! Thanks for sharing another great video ❤
That's a good strategy.
I now use cloth napkins and cloth paper towels. I have an old tea towel that I use for draining bacon.
Cloth paper towels?
@@donnalynn6348 yes! They are from a company called Norwex. They aren’t cheap but are wonderful. I use them to clean up the floor or the counter.
It's either cloth or paper😀
Are they meaning handicaps maybe?
Wait…do you wash the bacon grease off the towel? That is awful for the pipes, I thought?
this is my first time listen to you and I was very happy and agree in what you are saying.
I love couponing!! I love this video!! Hope you keep them coming!!
Loved this video! So insightful
Wow I’m going to have to try out CVS, great idea on putting $100 aside to see how long that lasts. TFS! Love ur channel ❤
I noticed the same with the toilet paper at my dentist. Oh my lungs I thought
We've used sams TP for years. Haven't noticed it being nearly as bad as certain name brands.
Thanks for sharing!
I need to get on the CVS gig, like yesterday!!
I am trying to get better about not buying paper towels plates that kind of thing I was wondering on the water drop does it leave an aftertaste so many of the water flavors do and I hate that please let me know. Thank you. Love your channel.
Great info on CBS
I need to go back to CVS. The $ store has name brand tooth patse for 1.25 too. I can buy all my L'Oréal cheaper at CVS. WALMART is so high on these items!
Wow!! I need to jump on the CVS wagon!
We always called cool whip containers Mom's Tupperware! 😂
haha! so true!
Here it is "Mexican tupperware". Many households in Mexico reuse plastic containers.
Water drop blackberry is 🔥
My favorite deal at CVS is when they have buy 1 and get 1 free vitamins and supplements.
I've heard a lot of jokes about the long long cvs receipts, but those coupons are great. I even saw someone made a Halloween costume out of the cvs receipts 😂😂😂
Haha! So true! When I was really into couponing years back, I definitely had a few that were about as tall as I am!
Great Video! I can’t wait too see what I can get / save. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
We've had a Sam's Club membership for about 13 years and I haven't bought TP, paper towels, trash bags, ziploc bags, dog food, cat food, cat litter, razors or feminine products from anywhere else.
that's a good list, I agree.
Their members mark cat litter is my fav.
I guess I need to start going to CVS
