in his third meinl festival video clip dave mackintosh plays dragonforce's title "heroes of our time". enjoy this one and as usual, stay tuned for more.
Dave Mac is God !! He hits with Power and he WILL BE BACK in D-Force ,..I guarantee it ! It takes ridiculous stamina and commitment to tour with D Force and their new guy doesn't hit with the kind of power that Dave delivers ,... D Force will figure it out over time - You don't Lose a Dave Mac - He doesn't Quit and you don't Fire him !! You keep a Dave at all cost !! or the band is soon finished ,.. Losing ZP was bad enough -
I agree, Dave hits it hard, his passion is more obvious than Gee's. Gee is an amazing drummer, so I'm completely ok with Gee replacing Dave. They're both great, but being a drummer myself I can see Dave's passion with each hit.
Yeah the new dude doesnt hit with as much power as Dave but drumming isnt about banging the shit out of cymbals and heads theres a technique to playing, the new guy has a lot of talent yeah he may not be a show man like dave but drummers arent frontmen we are the back bone of the band
Every once and awhile, I come back to remind myself why I have Dave as the 3rd best drummer of all-time (personal list) behind Neil Peart and John Bonham.
@dozdesign hey! Well first of all what i meant about saying that the beater is in the opposit way is that the beater head is downward ,could you see it?isn`t it? and I never used tabs so I just understand regular scripture on staffs, anywayhow long have you been playing drums? where? how old are you?what`s your music style?which ones have you studied?what do you do? do you play? do you teach? do you study? cheers!!! GBU
If you watch from their early days, Dave does heel up. Heel toe, if used correctly, can help out MAJORLY on your leg/feet stamina. Especially when you're playing hour shows at 200+bpm tempos.
@nupraptorspillar true what you said, but i went to abigger venue and still was using them, people do have to understand that beside great music and great hands, the guy just doesn't have really great footwork, and needs triggers to ligtly tap them to keep up with his drumming. If it was like that why people like john Tempesta, and Dave lombardo never use triggers, no matter the venue? If you use the correct microphone setting, no matter the venue the drum will sound just fine.
and hitting that kind of trigger that thomas lang uses with his roland sets at 4:51, I don`t say that this is bad, actually is great to do it at high speeds? how fast can you go without triggers? after 200bpm with singles or doubles I lose 30% of my volume, well cheers and God bless you!!!
look at minute 4:51 he`s using triggers,he is not definitly hitting the bassdrum heads,i guess it would be almost impossible to make louder sounds at that speed with real bassdrums cause obviously real drums can`t sound as louder as electronics(with a little help of loudspeakers ) even using high sensitive micros ,it would sound not this good. anyway he`s awesome
@nupraptorspillar sure i do too recognize his overall ability, that makes him a good drummer. just pointing out that af far as i always saw, he never played really on the bassdrums because he preferred/needed the triggers. True on Lombardo, but i can come up with Kollias, and you can give him basically any decent pedal and he will play blast for long time and constat High Bpm songs. i just wanted to point out that, but never disrespect the talet that this guy shows.
@DanielNoche no bash but this isnt even that fast fast would be behemoth probly plp here are just gonna dismiss behemoth cause its death vocals but that drummer doesnt only track at 290bpms but plays very tasty drumming inclusive with multiple stroke and portnoy style fills at high tempo
Definitely an underrated player back in the day. Not massively technical but man, playing with that speed and intensity for a full show is a seriously tough gig!
Glorious! Dave is way underrated. People try to say he sucks because they don't like the band but when i see this it just blows my mind at how crazy good he is. If the haters could see this they would change their mind. Love Dave and Dragonforce!
+hunter affleck Not really that fast in the world of drumming. George Kollias, Flo Mounier, Francesco Pauoli, heck, even the great Virgil Donati's faster.
That was absolutely fantastic. Even those who don't like DF have to admit Dave is an incredible drummer (and really cool dude too, met him at two concerts).
Even if you hate the music, the ball cap, whatever...obviously he has some skills. And let's not kid ourselves, say what you want about Dave, this performance is better than anything Lars has done in 20 years (in speed, accuracy, and execution), perhaps ever. If you're going to diss a drummer, Lars is a better candidate...lazy millionaire who phones in his performances and can't keep the tempo right to save his life.
@angelkf87 Actually its heel-toe in the fast parts. If you knew anything about percussion you would know something as simple as that. He can switch between heel-toe and heel-up..another reason hes damn good.
@metaldrummer47 mmm hmmm... Same beat all the time man. Ride the kicks, then do a drum roll down then back up and repeat! I guess I just don't get the genius that is Dave Mackintosh.. My bad!!
And..are people still saying that bass drum triggers are cheating? Do some research. Look into what Derek Roddy and George Kolias say about triggers. Sheesh..
Dave Makintosh has got to be one of the most underrated drummers I have ever seen, he deserves more credit for the pure talent he has
one of the best drummers in the metal industry and you never hear about him
Ultrabeatdown is one of the best!!
We miss you Dave and ZP!!
I heard that if you cut Dave Mackintosh, he'd leak motor oil.

I honestly believe this lol
Dave Mac was the WHOLE BAND !! NO WAY - DO you replace him - NO WAY !
5:22 - 5:35 is just amazing. One of the best metal drummer.
OMG - WOW - Its amazing. I love this song. Dave, Dave greate. I'm getting ready. WOW respect
Dace Mackintosh is not HUMAN !
Dave Mac is God !! He hits with Power and he WILL BE BACK in D-Force ,..I guarantee it ! Sorry man,i love Dave but Gee is the better drummer,no questions asked
***** Gee is one of the best drummers i have seen, i like Dave better though
I agree, Dave hits it hard, his passion is more obvious than Gee's. Gee is an amazing drummer, so I'm completely ok with Gee replacing Dave. They're both great, but being a drummer myself I can see Dave's passion with each hit.

@dozdesign hey! Well first of all what i meant about saying that the beater is in the opposit way is that the beater head is downward ,could you see it?isn`t it? and I never used tabs so I just understand regular scripture on staffs, anywayhow long have you been playing drums? where? how old are you?what`s your music style?which ones have you studied?what do you do? do you play? do you teach? do you study? cheers!!! People can say whatever about dragon force but for me there are awesome in what they do... and this drummer kicks mega ASS!!!!!!!!!!!
If you watch from their early days, Dave does heel up. Heel toe, if used correctly, can help out MAJORLY on your leg/feet stamina. Especially when you're playing hour shows at 200+bpm tempos.
awesome man !!! arghhh too bad ! i couldnt come to your clinic in bandung
He is spectacular.
the rev + mike portnoy = dave mackintosh!!!

@xShadowNovax He has a band.
look at minute 4:51 he`s using triggers,he is not definitly hitting the bassdrum heads,i guess it would be almost impossible to make louder sounds at that speed with real bassdrums cause obviously real drums can`t sound as louder as electronics(with a little help of loudspeakers ) even using high sensitive micros ,it would sound not this good.
anyway he`s awesome
@AeroxLight but i do respect your opinion. R.I.P The Rev
💚💚💚
@nupraptorspillar sure i do too recognize his overall ability, that makes him a good drummer.
just pointing out that af far as i always saw, he never played really on the bassdrums because he preferred/needed the triggers.

i just wanted to point out that, but never disrespect the talet that this guy shows.
Man i miss this drummers,i feel like this drummers are the best drummer in dragonforce
max respect :)
@vellron and if he was using real bass drums, why aren't the heads resonating?
@ionbc I know, that doesn't particularly bother me though.
He's fucking amazing
He can finish song which last 7 min in 3 min, no joke :D
@MyAbomination1 "Paiste".
This guy is doing diddles with his feet, thats fuckin awsome! I need to practice that!
This guy should also be a marathon runner.
Wait, I never noticed Dave does heel-toe on the double bass. Look at his legs at 1:20
5:00 I think I saw the cymbal light fire to his sticks...
@NewOrleans51234 yeah bro
@Davemackintoshforce one of the reasons i put a winky face :)
This song sounds very similar to Through the Fire and Flames
How?

Anyone ever doubting Dragonforce's "Studio editing drums"... Read'em and weep!
Dave has skill, stamina, and on top of all that, overall consistancy!
This man right here is the main reason I wanna learn to play drums
Glorious! Dave is way underrated. People try to say he sucks because they don't like the band but when i see this it just blows my mind at how crazy good he is. If the haters could see this they would change their mind. Love Dave and Dragonforce!
Such an underrated drummer
HE´S A HERO OF OUR TIME...!!!!
5:23 to 5:37. WTF WAS THAT. I COULDN'T EVEN SEE HIS FREAKING HANDS WHEN HE'S GOING THAT FAST!!!!
+hunter affleck Not really that fast in the world of drumming. George Kollias, Flo Mounier, Francesco Pauoli, heck, even the great Virgil Donati's faster.
Well To me he is. Cause he was in my favourite band. Dragonforce. He shouldn't of left.
Not the fastest but he has stamina
The original dragonforce was beast..
That was absolutely fantastic. Even those who don't like DF have to admit Dave is an incredible drummer (and really cool dude too, met him at two concerts).
that dude is so wicked man! is it me or is Dragonforce as a band altogether badass!?
This drummer is one of the best in the world !!! lml
I want to call this dude, Master! I love dragonforce with Dave and ZP!!
i have other preferred drummers... but I do appreciate how damn consistent he is!
Love the fill at 2:25! Simple to play but sounds awesome.
2:25
Fucking love this guy. I long for the original lineup
People can hate the band, but you can't hate this guy, He is awesome and can play amazingly well
omfg he is doing double stroke on the double bass omfg
my hero XD
The real power of dragonforce music
Dave ''AK47'' Mackintosh
He left dragonforce ;-;
may not be what genre meinl fans at this particular event wanted to see, but dave's got buckets of skill in his style. GO DAVE =D
@angelkf87 nah hes doin double strokes
He needs a bigger drum..!!! That´s small for him!!
Dave beats very hard his drums.
Watching this in 2021. Legend!
Even if you hate the music, the ball cap, whatever...obviously he has some skills. And let's not kid ourselves, say what you want about Dave, this performance is better than anything Lars has done in 20 years (in speed, accuracy, and execution), perhaps ever. @Brento44 Yes it is.
If you think its not, do those songs @ the same speed as him.
You wouldn't get to the verse 1
....he is SIMPLY incredable.THAT
is a fact and NOT to disguss
He's a machine!!!
first comment since seven years
@angelkf87 Actually its heel-toe in the fast parts.
My bad!!
de baterista e guitarristas o Dragonforce ta muito bem representado *-*
Great Metal Drummer!!
I like his play!!
And..are people still saying that bass drum triggers are cheating? Do some research. Look into what Derek Roddy and George Kolias say about triggers. Sheesh..
In the words of Carl Brutananadilewski, "That beat is badass"
