It’s called call and response. Usually it’s done with all vocals. This is a kinda unique example and shows how these guys were thinking outside of the box a long time ago. ❤
@@17losttrout, no. The musical device, call and response, goes back at least to the very early Catholic Church and probably much further into prehistory. It is not and has never been referred to as question and answer. Q&A is what happens at the end of a class, lecture or press conference. It only involves music if music happens to be the subject of the class, lecture or press conference.
I think a better example of call and response is “You Shook Me”. There are other examples, of course-“Dazed and Confused” live and others, but that’s the first to come to mind and in Zeppelin’s case, it is between Jimmy and Robert.
My husband and my wedding song is "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin. He chose it because that's what he feels about me. Makes me cry but in a beautifully wonderful way.
"Our" song 10th grade 1977. Not our song anymore! Her mom made her dump me because her dad became a millionaire when he sued Revlon for some old lady and I suddenly became unworthy lol Wife and I say our song , 33 yrs, is Ten Years Gone..was playing in her background 1st time that I ever called her.
They were at a place called Headley Grange, & recorded in The Rolling Stones mobile studio. While there a Black Labrador followed them everywhere, so they named this song Black Dog.
Quick story about this song.. My son was very young and we went to the San Genaro Festival-in NYC .. there was a dj booth for a classic rock station my son walks up talks to the guy there and next thing you know he is singing Black Dog live on the radio in the middle of a street in NYC Great memories. Thanks for this… 🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻
It's wonderful how much you're able to grasp the talent that went into making music back in our day. I really appreciate that so much. Oh, and you don't talk too long for me, I actually very much enjoy hearing your thoughts!
If you want to see something more recent from them, check out their concert in 2007 Celebration Day in which they play Black Dog, Jimmy is as always, amazing and having a great time. This would be their last concert together. Of course John Bonham died in 1980, his son Jason Bonham fills in and they are incredible.
My son is a big Led Zeppelin fan. He was in high school when he would play their albums over and over. He learned how to play the guitar! 🎸 Thanks for another great reaction 🌻💜👵🏼✌🏼
Once again You nailed it! Great reaction dude! I am amazed watching how much you glean from this music. So great to see a young person understand and appreciate this music!
The best way to first-time listen to Led Zeppelin is to start at the beginning, going song by song, track by track, album by album. What a rabbit hole. Zeppelin's the best of the best. I envy you on this journey of discovery you've begun. . .
Interesting thing about this song is the drummer (John) is playing a different beat/time to the rest of the band. And yeah, like you said, they're teasing you with the interrupted music. Never thought of it that way. Cheers
The one difference between Led Zeppelin & other bands, they had complete control over all their music. Besides Page producing mixing etc. they decided the few singles the put out, what songs went on what album & how they wanted to make their music. Their manager got them 90% of concert ticket sales, where up until then, bands only got 10%. He made sure the only ones selling their merchandise was them, not thieves.
🤷🏼♀️ personally I’d say don’t worry so much about live performances of songs you’ve already heard and just keep rock’n those classic rock originals. 🤘🏻 You’ve barely scratched the surface.
@@MDreeezy 😅 how about starting a Beatles rabbit hole with “Don’t let me down” or Rolling Stones “Sympathy for the Devil”. Both of them are prolific top notch bands with a range of styles from song to song.
Totally agree, particularly with Led Zep. There are some good live numbers around, but generally they are only really bang on with the studio recordings.
It took a month and a half to find a formula my youngest daughter found agreeable, when she was born. So many stressful restless nights. I finally loaded her up in the car 2 weeks into it at like 11:30 at night, queued this song up, cranked it to 60 and took off driving. She was out in 4 minutes. We repeated the process until we got shit straight but that ended up being enough to create a convert. Shes15 and obsessed with Zeppelin and rock music in general. These little shits always seem to put an uplifting spin on strenuous situations.
I never get tired of Zeppelin...They were amazing in concert!! Day On The Green #4 & 5: Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Outlaws (July 2 & 4, 1977). Led Zeppelin's performances took place towards the end of its 1977 North American tour. These were some of the largest Day on the Green shows in its history.
I love Led Zep, but they could be a bit patchy live. I've yet to hear Jimmy come in with the truly brilliant and perfect solo at the end of Stairway at the same time as on the studio version. That solo is so great, Frank Zappa orchestrated it, years later.
You are on to something. After hearing this and many other songs thousands of times, especially from Zeppelin, there is a buildup that repeats and you are just waiting for it to explode. I love those parts!
"In My Time of Dying". Either studio or live version (Earl's Court). Trust me, mind blowing. It is a cover of a blues/gospel song and is a perfect example of Zep's skill at doing cover adaptations. The Live version is technically excellent and allows you to see the skill of the musicians.
Just watched your 'Tom Sawyer' reaction; what the two bands have in common - and Rush would never deny the importance of Zeppelin as an influence. The rhythmic changeability and cohesion of the unit is something all these classic bands could, at their peak, boast about. 😊❤
Yes, do more Led Zep, all their albums are good, start with the first one and work through it. You could do a track every other day and run it for a few months since, they did quite a few albums, then do some of the live stuff.
If you're hearing a Led Zeppelin song for the first time, I think it's better to listen to the studio version because, while they are a great live band, Robert Plant sometimes sings the songs a little different live. It's no big deal if you are familiar with the studio version, but if you're not, the live version is not always the best way to hear a Led Zeppelin song for the first time.
An amazing performances is Kashmir from Celebration Day Concert...take in mind they are much older but can still Rock..there were 20 million people trying to get tickets to this..their last live performance!! So many people they had to do a lottery to sell their tickets...it was an epic Concert. Robert Plants voice was insane..they were all in their 60's i believe. Absolutely astounding. JAMES Bonham, was the drummer..he is John Bonhams son...and he brought it!! A must see.
Try Achilles Last Stand* In My Time Of Dying* No Quarter* The Lemon Song. Everything by them is amazing, so you can’t go wrong. Thanks again Hun, appreciate your reactions. You won’t find all the songs from the Madison Square Garden concert, but that’s the best one to get what you can from. Another great one is The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song together.
Love Led Zeppelin! So many great songs you can react to. You really should check out Four Sticks & The battle of evermore. Oh & Going to California, my three favorite songs off this album 💜🔥✌️☺️
Maybe follow "Black Dog" with "Hot Dog" (totally different feel but very fun). It's from the "In Through The Out Door" album if memory serves me. Another good one off that album is "Fool In The Rain".
Led Zeppelin YAY!! Great Reaction. Black Dog title has nothing to do with the meaning of song. Lol. They were at Headley Grange (an old abandoned hotel in England) and there was a black Lab that was hanging about. He would roam the area at night and then sleep during the day. They figured he was getting a bit of fun with some girl dogs. Lol. The song is about a man who falls under the spell of a woman so much that she can get whatever she wants.
I heard they named this after a stray dog that was hanging around the studio during, the production of the album this song is on. Forgot if it is documented or not. Maybe it can be researched?
Good morning, a real brill sing is the immigrant song live or rock an roll. Both amazing songs ❤❤❤ This live is so much better well worth a watch keep up the great work, luv the reactions. An moby dick is amazing

Another classic led zep tune! I’m new to your channel but you seem pretty intuitive. You should check out Jeff Buckley. Led zeppelin were big fans of his. Try his live performance of Grace , BBC Late Show. You won’t regret it! ✌️
Just a suggestion, please do Studio versions first, then Live..the reason being, is in that era, of live performances, the audio sucks, the band was on tour , high as Mt Everest, and really poor video quality...( Not hating , just facts) ..so to really appreciate Zepplin please react to studio cuts, then revisit some live versions....of songs you like. Love your channel, love your Spirit, just helpful advice. ❤😂
Awesome song & reaction! The name of the song has nothing to do with the meaning of the song. It just so happened that a stray, black labrador retriever was always walking around outside the studio where they recorded that song! Lol! Since I'm a Miami Dolphins fan in Miami, would you mind moving your Dolphins pennant closer to the middle of the screen so the whole thing can be seen? All I see are the last four letters hins. 😂
