Love watching as I have not painted in years , growing our food as it is not affordable to shop organically, growing veg , beef and pork and eggs. I'm 64, losing my eyesight but your videos bring me so much joy. Thank you Paul ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for including more views of your palette; I’ be seen most of your videos on mixing etc. but seeing your palette as you discuss and paint helps me to understand better what you mean by “a watery mix”. Thank you again for such great videos.
its like magic watching a picture developing right in front of you.. Really wish I could do this. Fun and informative. Lovely. Thankyou for the great videos
I for one would love to continue to see your palette and the way you mix/add paint to washes. For beginners, it's a great learning tool. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial.
This is Rita. Watching the transformation is amazing. This is an excellent tutorial Paul. As always, thank you ... and I love the artist painting at the end. Thanks for sharing.
I recently found your channel and i had no idea that the painting book i used in my painting class was yours, i remember sitting down in a corner painting a scene i liked from your book. Now i follow your channel to improve, you're the best teacher for me!
I like it that you take up challenges to paint something new and are honest about your outcome. You are very talented. Thank you for being so kind to share your knowledge and give new tips. Your videos are very helpful.
Thank you for your time! Beautiful! Good tip about hands! Love the woman's hair - the loose strands make the painting come alive! Thank you to Margot's team - creative and so visually powerful!!
Both the drawing and the painting are absolutely gorgeous. I just love how you used that pencil to draw and shade. You painted it so terrific with lovely matching colours and I love how you painted her white hair. Many thanks again for this great portrait.
I gave it a go and I loved the whole process. My favorite part was shading the drawing. I kept fiddling, adding, erasing, changing things around, looking at the reference photo. Now I want to do more. Thank you, Paul!
Sherry here Paul. Your fear of portraits must be gone. Both are so beautiful, full of character. Can't wait to try the India woman, Goat herder turned out neat. Thanks so much
As I was watching this,I thought to myself..Wow! If I could draw like that in pencil…I’d probably never try to color it in…your skills never cease to amaze me! Thanks again for sharing with us!!!
I’ve never tried a portrait before but this video has inspired me “to give it a go”. Thank you Paul for another wonderful tutorial. And what an amazing talent in the group.
Thanks so much Paul! You are such an inspiration and I love your sense of humour. I am only just starting out in watercolour and I am so grateful to have your videos to refer to. Thanks again.
Wow, thats amazing Paul. So enjoyed this . Learning that watercolour is more forgiving than I thought. Correcting tones on her skin amazing result. Thankyou.
I love your portrait instruction. I don’t know why we get so worried about getting older when the older face holds so much more interest and character to share. Thank you.
She’s so lovely! Thank you for sharing this with us. You captured her smiling eyes and warm spirit beautifully. Margo has such a special group. I was just watching the video of the sailboats last night. This one made me misty-eyed.
Great tutorial, belting painting , you never let us down. Years ahead of what I could do. Its good to see the detail you produce, keep them coming Paul. Many thanks to you and yours.
Thank you so much! Doing people is my favourite. I love how you have incorporated pencil with the portrait. I definitely have some new ideas to try out from your video. Inspiring and helpful. She's beautiful.
The graphite and watercolor combination is so wonderful, and the painting has so much character. Thank you as always for your enlightening tutorials that produce gorgeous paintings. I look forward to your videos every week.
Merci Paul pour cette pause relaxante et la démonstration de votre très grand talent! Vous m'impressionnez à chaque fois, je ne vous remercierai jamais assez de nous partager vos chefs-d'oeuvre! Amicalement AB :0) du Canada Thank you Paul for this relaxing break and the demonstration of your great talent! You impress me every time, I can't thank you enough for sharing your masterpieces with us! Kind regards AB :0)
Love the painting. The rope and bar could be a weaving loom of some kind for rug or cloth. She appears to be American Indian woman. Thank you for this beautiful demo.
Here in NSW, every Wednesday night at 10 to 10 I get a nice cup of tea, pencil and pad to jot down colours and notes, then Thursday morning I get to play. Thursdays I attempt Paul’s tutorial then Saturday attempt one of my own reference photos of something similar using those techniques. ❤

This video was very helpful as I really want to learn the tone of a portrait. I also really like all the paintings at the end including yours of cours...😊 I loved them all! Thank you so much to be so generous as usual! 🙂🖌
Aloha Paul, from tropical Kona Hawaii. Love her face, so much character. The added A.C. wash really enriched her skin tone. Love your techniques. As always, a satisfied customer. Have a lovely day. 😎
Another wonderful video to enjoy and hopefully help me in learning to use watercolor. I think all your videos are wonderful and your paintings are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing! Love the music and accent as well. So relaxing and soothing to the soul. Can't wait to listen and watch more. Vicki Pirtle, Smiths Grove, Kentucky
This was so peaceful to watch. I’ve not tried doing a portrait for the group. Im not very good with people. If you have a dog portrait challenge or a cat I’m in. Love how your portrait came out. Very expressive. ❤
Love this tute… I’m in the middle of it ,and thinking possibly the tool in her hand has many uses . Maybe to keep the ox moving from field to road , keep the King Cobras 🐍 from getting her and to harvest some of the field crop … Thank you Paul , such a beautiful soul to try to paint 🌺
Thank you for sharing I always wondered if the sketch was drawn with graphite prior to painting, was excited to see how you worked exactly from the sketching graphite then painted. I can’t wait to try it on a few of my portraits now. You took the scary away for me to actually jump in and do it. Very grateful.❤😊
Oh Paul!! I absolutely Loved, Loved, Loved this one!❤️😍 I Love all of your wonderful videos as I so enjoy watching you paint these beautiful creations as well as your wonderful sense of humor.😂 Your talent and expertise are so appreciated!❤️🥰
Hi Paul, Loved your lesson and hope to try it. I think the lady in the portrait is from the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. She may be in the fields watching for birds and the sticks with the threads maybe our version of catapult to drive them away.
Love this one, Paul, as I do all of your tutorials. I really liked seeing everyone’s artwork at the end: there is so much talent out there. I was drawn in by all those beautiful expressive eyes, well done to all x
lovely, warm and fun. your tutorials bring so much joy in my life, say hello to your lovely and very talented wife. from Romania all my love and a wish you a beautifull spring since yesterday we celebrate spring solstice, sorry for my long message and poor english
Lovely portrait. I had wanted to try painting this lady from Margot's challenges, but having tried one another could not find time for this . Now I can do it under your tutelage . Thank you for yet another wonderful painting .
This is one tutorial which I will be watching many, many times. It is so amazing. I have learnt so much. I rarely paint portraits in watercolours as the mistakes are impossible to correct in this medium. Indian skin colours vary from region to region. Very fair to very dark, yellow to wheatish to pink undertones. (My skin undertone is yellow whereas my daughter has pink undertones _ a make-up artist can explain far better😄) So far I have been using scarlet red and yellow chrome with burnt sienna / burnt umber and ultramarine blue (for shadows). Now, can try out crimson too with yellow ochre. Also, hands and feet do generally turn out larger or awkward. A great idea to sketch and shade separately. Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial.
Hey Paul, fabulous tutorial, as always. Wish I could draw and paint just a smidge like you - if so I'd be a very happy camper indeed. Looking forward to next week. Julia
You are an amazing artist! I am so glad I found you and wish I could be in class a student of yours. I used to be a graphic artist in the early seventies. I love drawing with graphite and now a fairly new watercolour painter. Loved it!! Thank you. Kathy from Ontario, Canada
That exciting moment when one realizes their painting made the random selection at the end of the video! ♥️💛♥️
Great to hear Nancy!
