But remember Mrs B comes in a special category. She was the only woman LEADER in Sri Lankan history and without any assistants either. Now a-days leader presidents have prime ministers as assistants. So this lady is one of them. Please don’t compare her with Mrs B. She was very intellectual charismatic and powerful in her own right and learned leadership qualities from her husband for which no degree was awarded. She over came all the attacks and killings of live Sri Lankans souls by JVP then. They used poor Rural Sinhala boys to fight for his cause and lot of those young boys died. To start with he should apologize to SL citizens for that cruel nature first and assure the citizens that such a thing will not happen again. He shows he has changed over the years. Citizens will watch closely how the things unwrap inside and outside the country. These are my thoughts.

Basically she had an established path for her emergence. She was born in a privileged family that had already been playing key roles the political arena. So it was not something she Earned but she was offered to exploit the sympathy of the murder of her husband. Whether she had delivered or not is a secondary question but she was brought to politics by SLFPers to take the advantage of the sympathy of the demise of SWRDB. The impact of her emergence had not made much difference to the political emergence of women in SL as all prominent women in SL politics have followed her way as they all followed the paths set by their fathers, husbands or brothers. They have only exploited their political dynasty to emerge. On the other hand "Dr. Harini had emerged through WITHOUT any such background. She is from a privileged family, but without any political dynasty to back her. There's no any male relative involved with Dr.Harini's name. That's why her appointment to be termed as a "ground breaker for SL women in politics". It would be a great boost for women who have no political dynasty & male relatives to fall back on. It would add confidence to SL women to realise that the backing of a political dynasty is no more needed to rise in politics. B) If you feel that "Dr. Harini was appointed to act as so called "assistant" it shows what kind of a mindset you are coming from. Other women might have done that, but She was appointed to this post because it's purely she is CAPABLE of being PM, and she EARNED it by HERSELF, without any short cut. And also if you think a PhD is 'just being awarded", complete one successfully within 3 years and make such comments. She came to this position Purley by her hardwork, optimism and self-respect. He had close liasion with Mrs B ,he recalled how powerful and interlectual she was, her leadership qualities were extatic yet humble, patient and genuine. Every body was so respectful of her so did my father to her so much so even though she didnt have 1/10 th of my fathers book education and CAS service. And her command of English was powerful too, to communicate with the western world With all this being said She was the First PM and only Woman leader of the country. NO other woman has come close to that. And that cant be erased from the history She OWNS it. She did it well. To run the country you need more common sense than books itself. Back to the current situation. Hope Ms Harini Amarasooriya will help AKD to rebuild the country, with her knowledge and genuineness even though she does not have any political background.
