    Vegan products are getting increasingly competitive, it’s great! At this point I prefer a lot of vegan alternatives to red meats - avoid the sinews, cartilage, etc. whilst making me feel slightly less guilty about what I’m eating. This chocolate looks nice, thanks for reviewing it. I’m rather basic so I’ll likely be picking up the caramel & sea salt if anything, but I’m glad that Steph(?) can have good chocolate once again! I know I’d miss it.

    2:20 The way she says "That's nice I like that" is exactly like your wife! Seeing the little shrimpling talking so much like you guys is so cute. Love this!
    Edit: Oh, and while I'm here, at least where I am there's some brands that carry proper milk that's had lactose removed (usually via adding lactase iirc), so you can have all the flavors and nutrition of milk without the tummy upset. It is a tad bit sweeter, since lactose breaks down into glucose and galactose, and they're sweeter than lactose. I thought I'd mention it since it's such a game changer as a lactose intolerant person. If you don't have that available, oat milk is probably my favorite non-dairy milk.

      @@mikesantiago14 🤣 true.😳 Uncomfortably true. Women can generally get away with it slightly better. But it's still creepy.
      There are things about my wording I am trying to improve - I never say "To be honest" anymore because I realised I've only ever heard it from people who were lying.
      I'm not creepy in real life (AFAIK) but I'm learning that my body language offsets any weird wording mistakes I make.
      It makes me think of someone I'm close to.
      My younger brother used to share my fairly dark twisted sense of humour, until he went through a rapid height increase in his late teens/ early 20s. Now his humour is only allowed out in private, because he realised very early on that it's creepy when you have an imposing stature.
      He told me "once you get over 6 foot you have to modify the jokes you tell, and laugh at. When you're over 6½ foot you are already 'Creepy Tall'.
      Then you need to alter your tone of voice, the way you move, your body language, the things you say.... if you're aware your height alone can make people uncomfortable, you know that you need to keep a dark sense of humour under the radar. If you don't, you're being creepy"

    A little present for Steph if she likes chocolate mousse. Here’s a three ingredient recipe I make for vegan friends.
    Refrigerate a tin of coconut cream overnight. Pour off any liquids and beat the solid coconut cream until it increases in volume. Add quality dark drinking cocoa powder (Most Dutch and Italian brands are milk-free) and sugar to taste. Beat until blended and serve. Hope she enjoys it.

    If you ever find yourself bored by chocolate with salt in it, just try the "Tony's Chocolonely" brand milk chocolate caramel sea salt - all their varieties are colour coded, so for that one you want the orange coloured wrapper. It's an expensive chocolate bar at almost £4 for a 180 gram bar, but it's worth it - the quality and flavour beats the pants off damn nearly any other chocolate brand.
    As for the nut "milks", I've tried exactly the same tiger nut drink and I really like it, but a close runner up has got to be the "Alpro" brand hazelnut milk, which has a nutty creaminess to it and is really refreshing when drunk cold. Or you can heat it up (either in the microwave or in a pan) and whisk some dark chocolate into it, for a hot chocolate drink which becomes more or less like liquefied nutella.

They're one of the only chocolate producers to do genuine nut free chocolate. The NOMO bars are 2 for £1 in the factory shop my wide is vegan thru choice & loves them
    They literally divided the factory, bought new machines, colour coded uniforms, equipment & tools so nothing from the nut side can get into the nut free side.

    Where can I get that Chocolate please? Never heard of lactose free Galaxy. They don't have them in the free from aisle in Morrisons. I also am lactose intolerant. Like the idea of hazlenuts in the chocolate too.
    Have you tried the Booja Booja truffles? They are vegan & come in an interesting selection of flavours, all of which are GOOD. Personally I really like the hazlenut ones. You can order them from Greenlife online. Almond milk is the best nut milk & makes super delicious & smooth hot chocolate.

    • @beware_the_moose
      @beware_the_moose 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @DriftZ TwoSeven I'm in no way vegan, but "sort of" vegetarian (I don't like to be put in boxes) - I eat vegan food all the time.
      I don't think the drop out rate from people like me is that high at all - mainly because if I want to eat meat I will: I simply don't want to.
      Would I eat vegan chocolate - yeah.

    • @steammachine3061
      @steammachine3061 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vegan food is still a minority but it often gets lumped in along side other free from foods that cater to other specific dietary needs like gluten free. Of course those are in the minority as well. But there's plenty of snowflakes these days that will convince themselves they have dietary needs as well that helps the free from range gain a better market foothold. That's good news for people that do genuinely suffer from food alergys as the pretenders help to push the price down. If you went back 20 years you would be hard pressed to find any food product actively advertising itself as free from. And when you could find it it would be stupidly overpriced.

    Vegan Shrimp! Your daughter seems sweet. She scored big on that chocolate haul! I'll look it up, but I would have been interested to know more about what Horchata was about. Yeah, that dark orange drink did not look so great. Here there is a soda brand that is known for making soft drinks in odd flavors....fish, bacon, ketchup, etc. Apparently it all tasted good for the flavors. I tried one, but it was so long ago I don't remember what flavor it was. It tasted flat. I rarely drink soada....way too much sugar. Don't like overly sweet things.

    our local sainsburrys is quite small so doesnt stock the galaxy vegan chocolate which is a shame. if mars?\cadburrys? didnt push the vegan aspect and just marketed it as a new chocolate range they might generate greater appeal. when there is a dairy intolerance vegan is often an easy solution as you dont have to constantly read labels

    If you’re interested in trying a really decent (ethical) vegan chocolate bar that does a good chocolate orange flavour, try a brand called Prodigy. You and your daughter will not be disappointed. They also do a Caramel Peanut one that is like a vegan Snickers but better.The Galaxy ones are mediocre at best and too expensive for what they are.

    • @AtomicShrimp
      @AtomicShrimp  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are brands of lactose free dairy chocolate around, but they are surprisingly rare. In Spain (where I think lactose intolerance might be more common), there is a brand named Valor that has a lactose free variety (and it's pretty good)
