I love watching your videos and I don't understand how you've been around 400k subscribers for a long while now.. you should be well over 1mil+ (not critizing you, but really confused to why that is)
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I wish I could figure out what's been limiting me all these years too. Watching everyone's subscriber counts blow past mine definitely sucks.
Really love that Hyundai and Kia are doing more with their designs. Definitely makes me look forward to their new models, even the EVs. Looking sharp with the branded polo!
I'm not at all an suv or crossover person but i have to watch all Matts posts so i can watch when he does his "let's turn on this back road and see how it does" maneuvers.
Matt, really value your opinion...so do you recommend spending an additional $1,400 for AWD over the base FWD? I live in Michigan but can count on one hand how many times I needed it in the past three years.
Love the content but was it a joke when you said the key fob does not have the hyundai logo on it? I see a huge italic H right in the middle of the fob with buttons.
Awesome video as always Matt! Kinda bombed that you didn’t mention the Kona N at all in the video, so I guess that’s a for sure confirmation that the Kona N will no longer be a thing for Hyundai 😕
I’m trying to have some hope they keep referring to the N-Line as the “N” so hopefully a true N will still come out since they haven’t officially announced the discontinuation. They could also do what they did like the Veloster and only offer the Kona N as the current model style
Thanks! All the speculation points to it not returning with a gas engine. A journalist asked about it during the Q&A and Hyundai execs didn't give any hints if one is coming.
Nice review; Korean cars seem to have advantages. Why is the vehicle called Kona. Definition of Kona is a southwesterly winter wind in Hawaii, often strong and bringing rain.
I like it! Always neat to see what would be a good alternative choice for my crosstrek. My biggest problem is that the rims are too damn big. 19inch us just a little foolish. They also seem to be creeping up in price quite a bit to. 47k Canadian (taxes in) for the N Line with the ultimate pakcage. Doesn't seem to he priced much lower then competition
Why is light steering always considered non-sporty? My Evo 8 has light and quick steering and it has the best steering feel of any car I ever drove. Way better than the heavy steering in my Mazda CX-5. New Kona looks quite nice.
I'm stuck in the 80's, I always think of Hyundai as cheapy cars that fall apart, I never gave one a second thought ever until this one. It looks really great. I'm waiting for the EV versions to come out and I might consider one, also waiting for the Chevy EVquinox.
Love the new change Hyundai is doing. But most of the stuff is all copied from VW. My GTI has all the same features. By the way the key fob is one big logo Matt lol.
That steering wheel looks great, slender! Is it my eyes, or does the steering wheel diameter look slightly too large and out of proportion for the small interior?
In Australia new kona EV is going to be expensive. Kona executives told dealers they will not compete with Chinese ev cars on price. So short range new kona battery will be at least 65 thousand Australian dollars when released. Large battery more. No price yet, but I have the new kona ordered and dealer said they have been warned the new ev kona will be expensive
I'm trying to shorten the length of my videos as much as I can, and didn't feel like another Alcantara rant was worth including. People have likely already arrived at their own opinions about it, so no need to give mine.
I can understand not everyone will notice it but the key design itself is the Hyundai logo
It's good to see a manufacturer taking customer feedback and actually improving their products. Nicely done hyundai

I’ve always wondered the same. His channel is so uniquely different from everyone else’s.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I wish I could figure out what's been limiting me all these years too. Watching everyone's subscriber counts blow past mine definitely sucks.
One thing worth calling out Matt, is that on the key fob the buttons themselves make the Hyundai logo if you look at it

@@MattMaranMotoring I really like the color. I imagine it's from your channel's theme. Is it inspired by the Mustang Bullitt?

Most seats in cars from 20 years ago would be considered unusable. Crazy how everything is so big.
Nice upgrades for sure. I just can’t get over the placement of the taillights 😅

Great review of the new Kona … we have a 2019 and love ours and this just looks that much better
Thanks Ted!

Nope I genuinely didn’t see it lol.

If hyundai says they will discontinued the Kona N, they would have already confirmed it.
@@JT-fq2bl that’s true, kind of strange that they have yet to confirm or deny it

@@MattMaranMotoring well dang 😕 I guess we should be glad to have the Elantra N. Thanks for the info
Matt, the shape of the chrome on the key is the shape of the Hyundai logo; you mentioned it didn’t have the Hyundai logo😃
True, but it's just an oval, so it's not like the shape is unique in my opinion.
Oh I see with the way the buttons are cut, never noticed that haha. Thanks for the enlightenment!
Would you recommend 2024 Hyundai Elantra or Kona based on comfort and ride quality?

So how much bigger is the Tuscon?
11 inches longer.

The Kona Key DOES have the Hyundai logo on it, hiding in plain sight on the side on which the various vehicle functions are located.
That steering wheel looks great, slender! Is it my eyes, or does the steering wheel diameter look slightly too large and out of proportion for the small interior?
It didn't seem too big to me, but that's something I can focus on more when I have one of these for a week.
C'mon Matt, the entire new Hyundai key IS their logo!
Haha I totally wouldn't have noticed unless people pointed it out.
wonder if pricing for the EV version would make sense vs the EV6
It has to be cheaper.

“Rugged” is never a word that comes to mind when I see cheap black plastic. It’s just dishonest marketing speak on behalf of auto makers
The Hyundai logo is in the negative space where the button are on the key fab.
Thanks, I legitimately would have never noticed that. Not a great design imo.
@@MattMaranMotoring 100% agree one of the ugliest key fabs I've seen.
Any word on the Kona N?
Unfortunately not.
I wish they didn't lengthen it so much. maybe 3 inches more. 5 is a little much for me
thanks
I prefer light steering
Couldn't care less about the gas model. However if the EV looks anything like this, ill definitely consider it
EV is the same styling, I just posted a video on it.
@@MattMaranMotoring 👍, many thanks. Will check it out. Really appreciate it
Nice

The gas mileage seems pretty of weak =\
But... can the crooks steal it with a USB?
No. They fixed that.
Maybe I missed it, but the Kona N was axed for the refresh?
They haven't officially said, but the rumors are suggesting it may come back as an EV or not at all.
@@MattMaranMotoring well, that's no good. I guess I'll need to find a 2023 somewhere if I want one.

Man it's not pretty, and that N Line is so gaudy and rice.
Yeah, quite ugly
I much preferred the front of the old design. This looks so sterile and boring.
8.7 seconds, wtf. My Accord Hybrid is way quicker.
Wow, that's HIDEOUS
I feel bad if this is the only car someone can afford
It's not even that cheap... it's about the same MSRP as the Honda HR-V. Why anyone would choose this over something like a Honda is beyond me.
