Shams Faqir is so intoxicated with the wine of Ishq (mystic love) that he has forgotten all the troubles he faced in the journey to this 'Maqam' or the trouble he received at the hands of the beloved. This is a state of intoxication where Mansoor uttered ' I am the truth' (Ann-ul-Haq) and he was executed. Shams Faqir is asking the Beloved to listen to his heart's lamentation, possibly before he becomes a victim like Mansoor. Shams Faqir has mentioned Sheikh Sana. Sheikh Sanan, is a verse play, tragedy in five acts, written by an Azerbaijani poet and playwright Huseyn Javid about the love of a Muslim sheikh Sanan to a Georgian-Christian girl Khumar. It is based on an old story first made famous by the Persian poet Attar Neyshapuri in The Conference of the Birds. Sheikh Sana was disowned by his followers for following his desire by marrying the Christian girl, who made him accept Christianity. But later, the girl adopted Islam and all his followers returned to Sana. I should be corrected if there is any other Sana referred to by Shams Faqir. in this poem when he says; Sheikh sanah woel amm kafooran beyakh chunne tuss hew late-ye, shrakh lainumm doun ranjooran sozi dill meon woen boz lati-ey If Shams Faqir is saying about the same Sheikh Sanan, then how did he get at the story. May be , he read Attar's poem of Conference of Birds or he heard it from Amritsar where Shamas Faqir would go to meet his Murshid.
