    I picked up a ‘89-‘90 four winns Horizon 190 on a solid trailer! 260/V8 Mercruiser. The transom, engine mounts, haul are in excellent shape structurally, but the interior upholstery some of the floor boards and all the carpet will need to be replaced.
    So my first task after removing all the trashed areas and cleaning it up is to go through the motor and electrical system to make sure it will run. Then I hope to drop it in the water next spring and test drive it. If it’s sound then I’ll attack the miscellaneous gelcoat and fiberglass repairs, oxidation issues on the haul, then last redo the upholstery. Your videos are giving me the confidence on taking on this project!!! Thanks for all you do!!!

    Your channel is definitely one of the best goto boat repair info shows on TH-cam. You asked us what we'd like to see done with this project boat and I'd like to vote for concentrating on the boat structural fix issues. Over the winter I'm planning on rebuilding an 1990 16ft bow rider which has a couple of soft spots in the floor. So, floor repair, stringers replacement and possibly transom replacement are of great interest to me and possibly many others. Of course it's probably going to take me a bit to build up enough courage just to start cutting things open. 😅
    Greetings from Finland 😊

    I to am in the business as you are kinda. I buy used Cobalt run about boats and repair any mechanical issues and totally do all my upholstery work myself. I also have replaced some transom’s with tear out of old wood and laminated new back in. Also did one in a bass boat using the pour in liquid composite transom. Both worked well and took lots of time.

    I love that you are doing this Project Boat series. I have a 14.5' Tri Hull that I got from a neighbor that is like a Whaler that was built in the Fort Meyers area. The Keel had a big hole in it that I patched, The transom was completely rotten, I have poured a sea cast to repair the transom, and the floor has been previously removed and has been removed again. The Stringers seem solid. I have a 70HP yamaha 2 Stroke that I picked up from another neighbor that compression tests good and seems to run strong. I have been working on it for way to long and Hurricane Ian set me back at least 1.5 years so I'm ready to get this done. Id be happy to share some pics and take any advise you might be willing to provide.Also had to rebuild the trailer completely.

    Good project boat. Maybe a little too rough for most of us out here but we’ve probably faced some part of your project at one time or other. I’d go for the 4 stroke. Doesn’t seem to make sense doing all that work and go backwards with the 2 stroke. When I do a console that looks like yours I order 1/4 inch black plastic panels cut to fit and with corner radius to screw down over the flat areas that have all the holes from previous mounting holes. You can then put in new instrument or switch holes. Saves a lot of filling and fairing trying to fill old holes or shapes. Good source for black panels is Boat Outfitters in FL.

    • @FishBumpTV
      @FishBumpTV 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is pretty rough, but I figured it would cover a lot of topics. I agree, boat outfitters is a good company to sources parts and supplies from. I might do the panel overlay on the console, thanks for the suggestion!

    I suggest a casting deck forward in the bow with a nice storage
    compartment beneath. I’m super interested in making a mold to recreate a part (hatch possibly). I enjoy your style of teaching. You clearly discuss the subject and follow it with great visual example. Do you think a 6 inch wide stripe of dayglow orange down the keel would be hard to add. As a prior coastie, I know it would help from above. 👍

Just finishing my transom and bracket restoration and my next step is putting the aft floors back together and then tackling some soft spots in front floor. +1 vote for the old 2 SMOKER. My 1995 Evinrude 90cv just ate a ring and already had ring damage on 2 other cylinders so I finally bit the bullet and pulled the motor. I found a 1980 Evinrude 140cv on Facebook Marketplace. Went and pulled it for a really dirt cheap price. I miked the cylinders, they were surprisingly good. Honed and rebuilt with new pistons and rings. I reused my 1995 electronics and dressup parts to essentially make this 1980 140cv a 1995 Evinrude 115cv. The Evinrude Crossflow (CV) motors were all the same 100ci displacement from 1979-1998. No matter the designation, IE 85, 90, 112, 115, 140...

    As someone who is running one of the last great 2 strokes, get a 4 stroke. The noise and smell becomes intollerable. There are so many idle zones now and so many times and places to go slow, and you know, that's the 4 stroke's domain. Brapping and smoking does not enhance your chill when you are cruising around.

      @@FishBumpTV Tore out the floor, fuel tank and the floor storage compartments. Only water i found in the foam was a leak at the bow floor storage drain. Amazing to see a boat this old with no water stained foam at all. But the inside hull has the worst looking glass job Ive ever seen. Is this normal?

    Great videos Joe ! Have learned a lot 🤙 Been working on my Anderson boat which I help build in 1990 at Anderson Custom Boats in Santa Barbara. I added a 2 ft extension. Iam at the final finish coat of Fiberglass Hawaii black gelcoat. I mixed 8 oz of gelcoat with a cap full of styrene wax and 90 drops of Mek. Still alittle tacky after 15 hrs but just prints not coming off on finger ! I live on North shore Kauai now so use to amount of hardener we need . Any thoughts? Aloha Rick 🤙
