Dehydrating Potato Soup for Camping Meals and Vacuum Sealing it

- Trying out my new Weston Pro 1400 Vacuum Sealer. I'm dehydrating and vacuum sealing potato soup for my next backpacking trip. Dehydrating food reduces its weight and size, which means you can fit more food in your pack. It will also give it a longer shelf life, especially after vacuum sealing.
Long form, short form, just keep putting out good information in the entertaining and educational format you do. 👍
I never thought about sealing extra clothes. Pretty smart!!
Yo #1 thing in my backpack is 2 pairs of underwear and like 3 pair of dry socks. And 2 rolls of toilet paper! I got lost mushroom hunting once and THANK GOD I had those 3 things. And candy is a great survival food! Like Snicker bars and my favorite are Paydays. And instead of water I carry Pedialyte. 1 playing and 1 blueberry. I should make a video 😅

The best channel
- for when you want some knowledge and survival tips if you plan to go out camping in your backyard or a forest nearby in a casually normal weather (not snowing & raining)
good stuff, this is what my uncle usually does and it comes out pretty good
Saw this on shorts.
Dang I JUST now found this channel and I absolutely LOVE it
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love your videos!
This channel introduced me to the wonders of dehydrators. I want one so bad, but I don't knoe what good brands are available in my country. I'd eat nothing but soup chips for months.
Tried commenting when your video posted, but comments were off. Have dehydrated fruits, jerky, but never thought of soups or even chili. I'd be lost without my vacuum sealer. Extra clothes work wonders. One question: What is the shelf life of vacuum sealed soups, stews or chili? Great channel and content. Appreciate your videos.
Can you do more dehydration videos I enjoyed this one, great videos all round.
Keep up the great work.
Cheers from the Canadian Rockies neighbour
Oh my goodness. I was recently thinking of these ideas, both food and clothing. Believe it or not!
For meat you can also take an extra step to sous vide it. It will cook and keep for even longer. Put it in an ice bath after the sous vide to cool it off before refreezing it. Thaw it out or cook it frozen. You can put a great sear on it to finish it off. It will be super tender from the sous vide. You can make a quick pan sauce with the drippings in the bag, a little oil, and flour. Works best if you pre-slice into cutlets.
Thank you for all the essential information we all should know
cool beans. thanks for all vids.
Awesome tips !!
Good information, concisely stated. Thank you.
nice soup bro 💯🙏
Looks really good. A little bit of bread with that soup would be perfect by a campfire. Cheers!
Looking forward to your latest Camping 🏕️ Adventures Sir!

Eat n park... that hits home
Somebody get this man into space
He has his own food ready. I wonder if he’s dehydrated ice cream. I remember the astronaut Ice cream when it came out.
Great video!! I'd like to try it out soon!
Excellent thanks! Will try this Xx take it easy 🥰🙏🏻

@@WoodsboundOutdoors i want to show you one machles fire starter video but it seems i cant post links but he uses
Glycerin and KMnO4(potasium permaganate) he also told that pot perm is water desinfectant but idk if its true
Definitely gotta try it
Have you ever thought of Freeze drying? It's very similar to dehydrating but you can bring the food back to as it was just with a bit of water (Although you don't have to)! Very good for hunting/camping/etc.
👍👍👍
POCKET SOUP!!
I really want a vacuum sealer...gonna ask for one for my birthday next month!
this is pretty genius
Thank you
This is fantastic! I’m curious about shelf life. May be a great emergency prep solution.
Nice
Cool
You know those soup powder packets you can buy on store shelves? Well those are pretty much the same as what John's doing here, though I'm guessing his is more nutritious, and most likely taste better 🤔 He did start with a completed product before dehydrating it after all lol
I don’t know why there’s so much dang sodium in those knorr dry soup mixes and other brands of those types of food. I can’t do a lot of salt, so this is a great idea for making your own.
These videos make me hungry 😂🙈 Love them tho! Keep up the good work 🤘🏻
Bro just wanted to show off his vacuum sealer😅
Eat’n Park. That’s how we know John is a true Pennsylvanian.
wow and zamzam water
I’m posting a video in a couple days about some shelters . I used to do random stuff but you inspired me to make outdoor videos
I love Eat n Park
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bro, talk about eating like a King!!
Another word for it is “Yummers” 😂
Homelander : Yummers
so early that I was late 🫤😂
(I saw the deleted upload)
Dumb mistake on my part lol
@@WoodsboundOutdoors love the content! can’t wait to see more outdoor camping 🙏🏽 -support from Baltimore
I'm surprised you don't have a video on different jerkys you make for camping
You dehydrate potato soup and blended it? Why not use mashed potato flakes and chicken bouillon powder? It’s already dry. Sometimes at home, if I want to make a quick potato soup, I just add extra water to my instant potato’s :D
Out of the soups you've tried, would you say there is one that reconstitutes better than the others? I saw the short about the chili. It looked like it came out more palatable than some of the others
My oven only goes down to 170F. Just go with that for 12h? It does have an air fry setting but that may not be much use in dehydrating soup since the rack has to be solid and not mesh
Ayyy #2
What is the shelf life of the dehydrated soup?
Can you resell dehydrated soup? I honestly not going to do this but I’ll want soup regardless.
Hmm....any powdered soup from one of many companies
Video suggestion: dehydrate a pizza.
Chilly better to buy dry one. It's available at very low cost in Indian store
In India we get soup powder packets
First view sweet
u can make homemade mre's
Any link for the dehydrater and vacuum sealer you use?
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻
This channel is basically a dehydrator/vacuum sealer commercial
New subscriber question: My wife makes amazing potato soup but uses whole milk. Can I dehydrate soup with milk products and vacuum seal? If so, what would the shelf life be?
How long do they last: meat, soup, mushrooms?
how long that meet is fresh without fridge?
Why did you choose this very big vacuum sealer? Does it have some better functions or suction than the small ones?
Soup
Hell yeah
Does vacuum sealing your meat reduce chances of freezer burn?
Yes, sealing the meat up helps prevent freezer burn
chili
Why did you delete the original video like 10 minutes ago?
I had 2 versions saved, I uploaded the wrong one
The vacuum sealer comes with protective film over the stainless steel, forgot to peel it off before I started using it in the first video
@@WoodsboundOutdoors Guess you had an interesting experience 😊
Let us see the vid 😂
Sorry to ask u this question, but you're not clay hayes, right?
Think I’m gonna sick with jerky
If you have to hold that vacuum sealer closed then it's virtually useless.
Can i design u thumbnails
nothing to do with camping just content creating, apart from saving abit of space why? why do you need to save so much space? just pack the soup, heat it up eat it, in the end you're camping no one cares how much space you save, saving alot of space is just a gimmick/novelty, and you WILL have those cooking utensils because what if you need to do a catch and cook? its like your filtering watch situations, in a real life "save your self situations" who had a knife/bottle/paper to screw around with?
These seem so disgusting. Lol.
Just buy powdered soup.
What a waste of fucking time and money lol.
I recommend a better title for this video '' dehydrated'' INSTEAD
