My son is 2 and we’re teaching him 3 languages, English Spanish and Tagalog and he’s picking up all of them! I don’t believe children get confused, I think they’re like sponges.. they’re going to learn and soak up everything you teach them.

I get told by many people that she’s going to get confused but everything I’ve read says all the opposite. I’m so happy she got accepted into this program. I can’t wait to learn with her.

Girl!!! My husband’s parents are divorced so for holidays I have to visit 3 families! It’s so hard. For a few years we would literally spend 2-3 hours in each home but 2 years ago, we decided to rotate holidays with each family. So we do Thanksgiving with 1 family, Christmas Eve with 1 and then Christmas Day with the other. And then we rotate the following year. It’s been so much better because we get to spend the whole day with just one and not spend it in the car driving all over town. It was weird to have to explain to our families but they understand and prefer it cause we spend the whole day there now. I would suggest trying to do something like that. It’s weird but it works!

We don’t spend our birthdays together, and I think spending a birthday would make me cry, and feel some type of way. I would be happy, yet be triggered because of abandonment.

Yessss! I love your parents! Also, I spoke to my daughter only in Spanish since she was born. It helped me reinforce my Spanish and now she started Kindergarten and she still talks to me in Spanish, but to her uncle in English. I practice English with her sometimes, but I love that she is able to speak Spanish so well! I also put her Netflix profile in Spanish, so we both learn more Spanish along the way lol

Your dad is 100% right, que Los niños aprendan español no los atrasa en nada. Al contrario ellos doblan la cantidad de lenguaje que los niños que nada más hablan un idioma. There is so much research that literally shows that bilingual students use a other parts of the brain that other people never get to use. And what people call no sabo is really two languages combining that is translanguaging that is a highly intelligent skill. Language is so interesting, nunca pierdan sus raíces. I always love episodes with your parents, son un amor.
I truly loved this episode❤ I totally understand your parents not saying “I love you” , because they show it with actions and that’s the important part. I know a lot of people refer to it as “the trauma” of their childhood, but I feel that reference is a bit harsh. Especially when we have parent that are our number one supporters, and are always there for us and their grandchildren. Words like “I love you” really don’t mean crap and unnecessary when I can feel the love 💕 😊

Yessss! I love your parents! Also, I spoke to my daughter only in Spanish since she was born. It helped me reinforce my Spanish and now she started Kindergarten and she still talks to me in Spanish, but to her uncle in English. I practice English with her sometimes, but I love that she is able to speak Spanish so well!
I also put her Netflix profile in Spanish, so we both learn more Spanish along the way lol

Your dad is 100% right, que Los niños aprendan español no los atrasa en nada. Al contrario ellos doblan la cantidad de lenguaje que los niños que nada más hablan un idioma. There is so much research that literally shows that bilingual students use a other parts of the brain that other people never get to use. And what people call no sabo is really two languages combining that is translanguaging that is a highly intelligent skill. Language is so interesting, nunca pierdan sus raíces.

I truly loved this episode❤ I totally understand your parents not saying “I love you” , because they show it with actions and that’s the important part. I know a lot of people refer to it as “the trauma” of their childhood, but I feel that reference is a bit harsh. Especially when we have parent that are our number one supporters, and are always there for us and their grandchildren. Words like “I love you” really don’t mean crap and unnecessary when I can feel the love 💕 😊
