Interested in how this is going to play out considering the big reveal of this arc that won Goku the tournament was that he learned how to fly, which gave him the drop on Piccolo to headbutt him out of the arena.
They could definitely implement a flying system into a Dragon Ball Dynasty Warriors game. The Dynasty Warriors Gundam games had a limited flight system that they could tweak to be more snappy.
Fire Emblem Warriors also has limited flight for the Pegasus and Wyvern riding classes. I haven't played the Gundam one, but in Fire Emblem the flying classes do that instead of running and they can go over some gaps in the map that on foot people can't. Is that similar to what the Gundam one did?

I think my favorite part of this is the combat is reminding me of Raging Blast 2, which was my favorite of the DBZ games in terms of combat(and soundtrack, dear God, what a good soundtrack). Although RB2 had more advanced combat with specific melee moves as well. A lot of the later games definitely ended up very Ki and finisher based, and were all like 99% in the air. And it took the charm away. That ability to run and fly, hover, etc.
It is really fun to see this arc adapted, thinking on the dialouge and stuff like with Shen. Most of this voices never done this period so fun to see this new takes.
This is absolutely my favorite era for character designs, as Lani said they aren't all bulked out yet, and they still have rounded elements to contrast with the sharp edges, instead of being _all_ sharp edges like in the Boo arc. This part up through the Saiyan Invasion arc has the best look, with Vegeta when he was still short and thin so Nappa really towered over him, before he got that awful bullneck and grew like 6 inches taller.
I prefer Vegeta in the Cell arc, but everyone else doesn’t get better than here. I really like Goku looking lean rather than a muscle head. It makes him seem more tactical I guess.
6:26 Koei-Tecmo did have the Strikeforce series of games where they gave everyone super forms that I believe allowed them to do stuff like aerial combat.
At this point the DB version of Earth still feels weird and cartoony enough that you could just take some money down to the shop and get cyborg'd by whoever. Later the world gets more 'mundane' to make the main cast stand out more so you start to get only rare individuals like Gero who can do that stuff.
I like to think that Tao was basically the early less refined version of what Gero did. Like, Gero looked at Tao and said, "Eh, I'm pretty sure I could do better than that."
Internal Funimation politics are likely the reason why Stephanie Nadolny won’t return as Goku. After all, she did the Goku voice for KO in the pilot of OK KO let’s be heroes.
The Demon King Piccolo and Teen Goku voices just tap into some inner child cortex brain that remembers Saturday Morning cartoons. The characters are just so EARNESTLY good and evil.
30:28 so fun little aside but in Dragonball Sai, instead Gero turned Tao into Android 11 who still loses to Vegeta because Vegeta had never shown his true power on earth up to that point.
Piccolo can regenerate some of his insides. The hole cell blew in him was a little to the side though, maybe he can't do the spine? Or, as said, it takes quite a bit of energy. King piccolo just might not have had enough left in the tank at that time. Or a big enough tank to regenerate that much.
Yikes, it could mean that. Unless Roshi was faking being younger (for awhile, at least) when he met Shen, but I guess Shen and Tao could of drank that eternal "youth" water too, but they never bother to mention it.
My take on the King Piccolo not regenerating has two reasonings: First, is that at this point in time, Piccolo and Kami are two beings split from one being.
