The whole album is about a cancer patient dying and what he goes through physically and emotionally. This song, in particular, is about how when we die, death comes in the form of our most fond memory (in this case, a parade he saw with his dad as a child). It reinforces the idea that our memories carry on after we die. It also talks about how we should have no shame at the end ("I'm not ashamed, I'm going to show my scars..."). Great reaction!
Top three favorite album for me as a whole. A true rock opera that should be listened to front to back, imho lol. The song Cancer is one of my favorites and makes me cry every time, as a cancer survivor myself.
This band formed at the time of 911 as a way to deal with trauma the lead singer experienced in Manhattan that day. It was such a powerful time. The whole world changed on a dime. I interpret this song as a farewell to innocence and a goodbye letter from Gen X and millennials to Boomers. And it is not a fond goodbye as the Boomers leave behind a broken and poisoned world while the future generations vow to carry on in spite of them.
The patient in the hospital is not the lead singer. I didn't know this until recently, but the guy who plays the patient is Lucas Haas who is an actor that's in a lot of movies I guess. This song is amazing and MCR takes me back to my 20's!!
I'm so glad I found your channel. You are awesome. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS! You were on the right path of the meaning of the song the entire time. But also remember music is an art and art is always subjective. Music lyrics included. They will envoke things in you that even the artist didn't I tend and that's why it's beautiful. Don't judge yourself and enjoy your continuing music journey!🤘❤
I'm a fan of them since 2006. Watching reactions to their vids and music is important to me. Very interesting reaction, you got some things right and somethings so wrong, lol. I would watch if you did more of them. Hugs from Sweden.
This has a beautiful sound to it 🔥 maybe he’s saying it in that way I look at death positive in away like they’ll me remembered forever n they going better place , unless they die too young that’s sad
This is from their concept album, The Black Parade. It's about a guy who was kind of a shitty person who finds out he's dying from a terminal illness. It's not from that record, but would you also please reactto their song Helena?
