I basicaly followed him a bit staying a bit behind to be able to deal with that issue...when I saw he was coming across I backed off nd dipped left - at first I thought he was going to stop/hit that wall so was going to go around to the right but once I realized he wasn't and may come across I just slowed down and watched. Not sure what else I could have done here, I also had to consider any cars that may have been approaching from the rear. Always easy to arm chair things like this. Bottom line I was going slow and we didn't hit. The bumper in the track at the beginning of the esses and the one after the blind turn (10) were far more sketchy.
Sometimes, it depends on what's going on behind you. If I see an incident on track, I'm getting the hell out of there because if you slow down, you're trusting that others behind you now see you moving slowly + the incident.
@@symawd yep, have to assess all of it. I considered hitting the bumper, b/c entering the esses wrong can cause issues. For my buddy in the white R, I was going to go around but waited b/c I wasn't sure, behind me was clear so had options. The guy spun after 10 I got slowed down so I could assess when I crested...bail out was going to be to go off to the right into the grass. Ground hog...got to just hit it.
How much do you pay for track insurance? And where did you get it? I've looked in to it before, but all i found was like 80k a year aimed at racing teams, which did not seem particularly interesting, i could build a new car for that every year.
@MrTurbo_ around $200 for $25K with a 10% deductible for 1-3 day events. I use Lockton. Hagerty also offers it. Remember this is for non-competitive HPDE and these policies usually include time trial coverage as well now. Just seems like a good thing to factor into the costs when the car is still worth a decent chunk.
Good ad. First one was sketchy though. I wouldn't have kept going forward with that GTI looking like he was about to merge back on

Why accelerate? wouldn't keeping distance/allowing more space be better?
Also cool wagon.
