Erasmo Carlos (1941-2022) was one of the icons of Brazilian popular music, especially known for his contribution to the Jovem Guarda movement, alongside Roberto Carlos and Wanderléa. A composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, he became famous for his decades-long partnership with Roberto Carlos, with whom he wrote numerous hit songs. Erasmo was known as "Tremendão," and in addition to being one of the pioneers of Brazilian rock in the 1960s, his work spanned various styles, including MPB, soul, and rock.
Among his most famous songs are "É Preciso Saber Viver," "Amigo," and "Gatinha Manhosa." He also had a successful solo career, with albums and songs that explored more personal and mature themes. Erasmo received several awards throughout his life, solidifying his legacy as one of the great names in Brazilian music
