Luoyang is the imperial capital of China, and Dong just finished pillaging it to the ground(historically accurate)… you literally killed him on his way out
i thought the history is there is a fraction in the capital and they try to overthrow the royal regime, but the royal supporter called the nearby warlord to save the capital, and when the city is on fire, Dong just enter with his force and nobody at the capaital could fight against that. Then he look at the situtaion, and he decided that since he saved the royal heir he will made himself the second man and rule the palace as if he is the king. or.... this game is suppose to be a bit later in that history? couldn't tell which year was it begin from the vid, or i missed it .

That jade seal was used by the kings to authorize orders or law changes. Extremely expensive to make or duplicate. Can only be used by the lord himself. Made it a strong sign of power.

I love the fact that if one of your characters has a friend on the other side in the fight, they still get the friend/berserk bonuses. It's pretty cool and I hope it's intentional.
You rekindled my interest in Total War. I used to love the games through Shogun 2, then began losing that interest. It seemed as if the games became less interesting and more annoying to manage, but maybe it was just me. Watching your approach took me back to the approach I used to take. The enjoyment comes more from the journey than from reaching the destination. At some point I had become impatient and less interested in trying to achieve optimal results. That's what kept me playing the earlier games. Thanks again, man!
I'm sad they didn't make his accessory a bow. Lu Bu was also a prodigious archer. I actually cannot think of a more proficient warrior from the world's medieval period.
Funny note, twitch player beaglerush(beagsandjam) plays with the Faction Zheng Jiang and managed to first marry Sun Ce, son of Sun Jian (and getting Zhou Yu the childhood friend of Sun Ce for free right after), and after that marry off the heir Lu Zheng to Lü Bu and get him as well. Playing on romance, they take towns alone, but if he manages to keep Lü bu in the long run remains to be seen.

The jade seal may not seem important or have some kind of stat that explains it, but it may have a passive negotiation bonus in real life that thing is very important, it basically is an item that the emperor himself owns, and is a major thing to claiming yourself emperor. It's the item that Sun Jeng found that made him try to be emperor in the first place. Yuan Shou even tried to have him killed by Liu Baio for having it, which eventually worked. I've been learning alot about the three kingdoms history and that seal is kinda huge. Explains why it's so important.
@@KevinLLH He's playing on normal, the starting position is simply considered very hard. Except it isn't. Also you're ruining your own fun. Cheats remove all challenge which is like 90% of most games. All you do is watch animations play out and I bet you'll get bored of that before 50 hours, let alone 100. But hey, it's your money.
Never played the game but one of the reasons I watch your vids is even if you're new to a game you try to explain why you are doing what you are doing, it's really helpful and provides a lot of insight, would love to see more total war!
Before this I was only watching your league stuff and ignoring everything else, but I really like how i was able to watch this and understand the gist of what was happening because of your great commentary. I'll definitely be clicking on these when I get the notification too. Also, I think it'd be a great idea to stream this and if you explain why you do actions like in this video you'll see me in the stream too.
The thing about losing alot health with lubu on the attack of that village is the towers+ charge from front, the play was kite the pike to the village and attack them from the rear or sometimes flank depends wether if their pike are standing or moving, note towers do 1000+ to single combatant, try when ever win a battle to still pursue the enemy until every 120 unit get to 14 and every 30 unit to 3 where in the next battle it will put them into recruiting states, however sometimes if you got lucky and pursue every unit their army will get completely destroyed.
I haven't really played any other total war since I think it medieval 2's campaign is perfect... it's weird to see something like 50% melee evasion buff

You break down everything. every other youtube i watch doesnt go into their plans or the skills of generals ect, I love this style as it teaches me everything I dont understand about a game I've already sunk 20 hours into and its awesome seeing Lu Bu. (my fav character in the game) Ps. I believe Lu bu has or unlocks an ability to get stronger the more enemies he kills, not sure if you have it unlocked yet tho.
Just so you're aware you can cancel the payments per turn by opening diplomacy, selecting "Dong Min" and then in the bottom right where it shows all your deals hitting the x to cancel the payments per turn. So you didn't really need to declare war after you got peace.
For most of the total war games, the autoresolve (delagate in this game) ignores kills by towers. It just looks at the two armies, not at the fortifications.

Watching you play and explain things was very informative. I got one win after like 300 turns haha.... ruled it all after i bought it when it released. Just took awhile.... I used Liu Bei... o.o
Something you missed. On the Jade Mine Map, starting at the very left you can sneak fairly close before the towers can shoot you (because of the angled firing arc). From there if you have the General Block ability you can bum rush the tower's capture point whilst blocking the tower shots and any archers they have. In this time your aim is to capture and push through to be safe from the next set of towers. You will still lose dudes, but I have regularly been able to beat the auto-resolve option. Can go wrong though if you have the wrong army makeup.
This works for Zheng Jiang, the bandit queen, too. She can take over some lands and marry Lv Bu. Romance mode Lv Bu is insane, I once had him killed 1014 dudes. Have fun with Lv bu, and don't forget to get a ageless mod so that he cannot die from aging.
if you want someone with huge impact, waiting a year or 2 to marry Sun Ce in the faction is also really good : +100 charge bonus for shock cavalry is nothing to laugh at, and as a bonus Zhou Yu automaticaly join Sun Ce when he comes of age... no matter where Sun Ce is...
Not bad at all. Quite an investment for Lu Bu though even just his horse and spear are pretty much worth it. Can you even get the unique armor? I've never gotten a characters unique armor and you can't un-equip them. The best way to get generals is to have a wife who is the mother of your children and divorce her. Because she's your baby mama she still holds onto the Distant Relative tag even though she's no longer on your family tree. When he comes of age you marry Sun Ce into your family and the next turn have them divorce, then you marry her to Ma Chao and the turn after that you have them divorce. The best part is that they only become distant relatives and don't clutter up your family tree unless you want them to.

Actually, there's a way to get LuBu out for free instead of having to pay 10k gold. But you'll have to sacrifice a lone general (with some troops in his/her retinue) by letting the general go on a suicide attack on any of your enemy (of course, you have to make sure that the general dies or gets executed by the enemy & not released). In this game, When a general dies or gets executed, you'll be prompted to select a new general to lead the retinue and it's free of charge if you select a general that's in your army. This way, you'll get LuBu out way faster and save much more of your gold. The only problem is that after you replaced your dead general with LuBu, the enemy forces might chase you and decide to engage you once again. But then, you have the All-Mighty Lubu at your side and all you have to do is control LuBu and squash the enemy with his mighty stats (Hit & Run tactic).
hey im convinced now. dunno if it is a bug, but when i started a new( my second one) campain, i got Lü Bu hired for 1000 crowns - then i toke is horse & weapon and banned him to getting 3000 crowns in my pocked - never saw him again. it was around the same turn ( 5 to 7 ) after starting the game.
Honestly this was fun to see but at the same time also rather sad... you are awesome in this but it does show how far total war has fallen from its glory days of medieval 2 and Rome to this.

Hey, i've looked in some comments, the video's description, but i can't find in which difficulty this campaign was played. In the beginning of the video, i'm sure i've seen "romance mode". It's just to see how much the challenge actually was.
You can see that all his save files are "normal" so the title is a lie. Yuan Shu starting position is considered very hard but that doesn't mean anything.
If I'm gonna guess... delegate underestimate the power of towers. Or rather, defensive structure as a whole might not actually considered in and of themselves. Whatever defensive bonus is probably only given when attacking towns as a flat bonus, which mines/lumberyard, despite having towers, does not count as. As such, the delegate result is effectively taking it as a field battle, which also have less chokes so your larger army would have been more effective in. At least, that's my guess as a programmer. Delegate is not actually simulated battle but some formula based calculation, so the natural assumption is that they forgot to include something in the formula.
the hardest TW Campaign ever is Western Rome in Total War: Attila. Only one in the whole series with the initial challenge set to Legendary 😂 Yuan Shu was actually my first campaign in the Three Kingdoms, didn't know he is supposed to be the hardest there 🤣 Also didn't know about Lu Bu, Injust went and killed of Liu Biao when he declared war on the other guy. didn't even know it's scripted so I had deals with him and spent half if the early game "treacherous", that was fun 🤣 I love to play the hardest factions possible :)
Anyone know why Lu Bu never shows up in any of my campaigns? Dong Min is listed as Dong Zhou's heir and it only shows some 9 yr old girl as his child. Lu Bu, where you at?!
Another way to get lu bu, force dong min to get extremly weak, and then ask him to join coalition and then absorb his faction,also he can die alot by natural cause at 50 yo and so on

If you start in the trees the AI won’t guard a gate and you can charge the less defended side and capture the towers

It tip you can make any General on Archer but adding a a bow when you get one and to keep their sword as well it goes under their trainer slot

Hey, i've looked in some comments, the video's description, but i can't find in which difficulty this campaign was played. In the beginning of the video, i'm sure i've seen "romance mode". It's just to see how much the challenge actually was.
You can see that all his save files are "normal" so the title is a lie. Yuan Shu starting position is considered very hard but that doesn't mean anything.

If I'm gonna guess... delegate underestimate the power of towers. Or rather, defensive structure as a whole might not actually considered in and of themselves. Whatever defensive bonus is probably only given when attacking towns as a flat bonus, which mines/lumberyard, despite having towers, does not count as.
As such, the delegate result is effectively taking it as a field battle, which also have less chokes so your larger army would have been more effective in.
At least, that's my guess as a programmer. Delegate is not actually simulated battle but some formula based calculation, so the natural assumption is that they forgot to include something in the formula.
Won't be able to watch streams with schedule difference but this was really entertaining. Would love more!!

the hardest TW Campaign ever is Western Rome in Total War: Attila. Only one in the whole series with the initial challenge set to Legendary 😂
Yuan Shu was actually my first campaign in the Three Kingdoms, didn't know he is supposed to be the hardest there 🤣 Also didn't know about Lu Bu, Injust went and killed of Liu Biao when he declared war on the other guy. didn't even know it's scripted so I had deals with him and spent half if the early game "treacherous", that was fun 🤣 I love to play the hardest factions possible :)

You should pick more often the option to take capture soldiers and replenish your forces, would make those fights even easier.
Another way to get lu bu, force dong min to get extremly weak, and then ask him to join coalition and then absorb his faction,also he can die alot by natural cause at 50 yo and so on
