    Sweet, I built this kit a couple of years back & found it great!
    Now I'm no Spit expert but it's the right shapes w/ good detail for a nice price😊

    Just discovered your wonderful channel. My modeling days are over (hand tremor and bad eyesight) so am enjoying the vicarious pleasure of modeling through you. Great stuff.

    I know this Video is a year old but just found your channel, I haven't built a kit since 1973 when I went into the forces, I will soon be staring a 1/32 Revell Mk2 Spitfire which my wife brought me as I have been researching a relative of mine for the 80th anniversary of the BoB. He was Flight Officer W H Franklin D.F.M. who was killed on the 12th Dec 1940 flying a Mk.1b Spitfire of 65 Squadron, this video has giving me confidence to make a start, I have looked at plenty of videos to get some Idea how to go about the build and this one was the best for a Newbie :-) keep up the good work.

    Love the fact your a fun modeler...to many model builders are critics and perfect perfectionists. Nobody uses they're imagination and just has fun...like Bob Ross always said, always paint your happy little tree....WHOOSH....WHOOSH....WHOOSH!

    Been following for a while, can't understand how i missed this one, by the way i to come from Bath, although i now live in Caister On Sea, the handle in the cockpit is a seat adjuster and more importantly the flap on the wing is not for the flap, it's actually the undercarriage down indicator, it absolutely infuriates me when most modellers leave it out, but having said that it looks pretty damn good, so i'll finish watching and enjoy the rest of the build.

    Hi Nigel, i have been following you for a while and i really enjoy your videos, you truly display your skills in them and thank you for that. Also i really appreciate your honesty about ads, i think it's good to invest in equipment when someone makes videos for youtube. Just, please, don't rush with it. Make one solid step at time. Greetings from Italy

    Been following your channel from the beginning, i come from Bath, just loved the accent, but also the way you explain what and why you are doing what you do, if you ever get a patrion then you can rely on me to help, by the way the handle in the cockpit is used to jack the seat up so that it gives better visibility when landing, love your stuff, keep it coming.

    Its just like being there watching you matey ! The honest opinions and to the point commentary makes it all the more enjoyable.
    You deserve the success with the channel and I am pleased to hear there are ladies watching too, the very fact you set out to educate and entertain within the hobby is testament to the amount of subscribers you now have...Brilliant !
    Can I ask that with all the new content and models you intend to do please don't make the channel Smelly Vision as there are enough Tamiya cement fumes here without any more being added !!!! :)))
    One last thing....get some rest !

      Perhaps we could all have a scratch and sniff card when you open the cement bottle just to get a bit of modelling atmos as you build !LOL

    Ive got a load of old 'humbrol railway' paints,LMS red oxide,BR coach stock crimson LMS crimson lake,BR lining orange..the range must have been huge in thier heyday.

      darron hedges they were amazing back then, probably because there was nothing else available other than Airfix or Pactra??

    Ah-ha... We could have a massive discussion on the cockpit. But basically it is (or used to be) referred to as "scale colour". Simply it means the smaller the scale is the lighter the colour should be to "look" right. If anyone doesn't grasp that I'll explain it in more detail.
    Humbrol 90. Gorgeous shade and when first added to the range in the late 70s, was called 'concrete'. Most versatile paint Humbrol make as it does pick-up the light around it and seemingly change shade.

    Greetings. I’m watching your video right now and I just heard you ask your viewers to tell you what they would like to see you build. I have a copy of the Hobby Boss 1/32 B-24 Liberator and I noticed you have one on your rack as well. I would really like to see you tackle that bad boy and I’m sure a lot of others would too. No one has attempted to build it on line yet and I think it would help your kit channel grow if you were to step up to the plate. I’m new to your program and I like what you do very much. You seem to be a very good model builder and I think you would do this fascinating kit a lot of justice. Please give my request your consideration. Thanks so much.

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliments Mike. They are gratefully accepted. The cockpit parts of my kit are currently away at Airscale being used for the development of a cockpit detail set. I am also waiting to see what the aftermarket does about the gun turrets, Hobby Boss really made a big mistake with them!!
      I hear you, and will consider what you have requested, but I may have to build around the turrets and stop when it comes time to fit them as I would rather build an accurate model.

    I think you should build an old Airfix Sterling and brush it with enamels, no airbrushing, lol, but in reality I wouldn't mind seeing a build of that Trumpy Scud hiding on the shelf behind you.

    also the lever to the left of the cockpit shouldn't be that long as believe it or not it's actually a hand brake and it comes about 2/3rds up the height of the joystick and level with it.

    Nigel, I'm in the u.s and I was looking for someone in Britain to converse with. I am new to modeling. I was wondering if you use any mini art kits and what you think of them

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mini art are beautiful kits but probably not for the beginner.

    Hi Nigel. Been watching your videos in the back ground for a while and you do some great content. I especially like your no apologies approach but also doing more in depth stuff and thinking about the engineering of a kit versus the actual subject. You mentioned about your video length and the time it takes to edit, render, upload etc. I appreciate that internet speeds and and data usages are all part of it but how long does it take you to upload say a 30 minute video? I'm curious because I see so many modellers uploading videos seemingly every day or every other day.

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very open question...... Depends on quality, upload speed, how many segments, how much editing, music, text... and so on. A one shot video with a crop at each end which is 30 mins long will take around 40 mins to film, 5 minutes to load to PC and edit, 5 minutes to save on PC in edited format, 15 minutes to upload to TH-cam then x minutes for TH-cam to "approve".

  • @johnparker1696
    @johnparker1696 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you convert your videos into H264 format cos that's the format that uploads the fastest and you can get a free converter called VSDC free video converter and is available as a free download on download.com.
    I am building the Revell kit at the moment and your right it is a cheap kit full of issues but nothing your average modeler would have to worry about

    just seen the box art of mengs new rolls Royce armoured car going to be a problem backateing it they choose an raf version used in Iraq fordson chassis and wrong turret for all the common versions if the art and kit mach its one of 8 rare conversions of a 1918

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh dear.. ANOTHER well researched kit then!!

    • @steve08717
      @steve08717 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it probably is just they picked a really obscure sub variant that was rebuilt into a Frankenstein new turret scarf ring and twin lewis on it boyes main armament ford engine and running gear remodelled front grill wrong tyres for any other version hopefully there going to make the whole family but this is like starting with a spitfire mk 7 when your going to do the spitfire family
