He didn't think he could leave with Genie Francis and him playing a couple. He also wanted Genie noticed for her acting!

I love all the 80's Luke and Laura. However, this part of the story would be one that I would rewrite. I think Monty was a little bit of a sexist in favor of men. I would have empowered Laura during her time away on Cassadine Island by making her actively devise her own plan for escape and keep her virtue intact! How many times can a girl be an object of obsession and rape?
Damm u got that right. I mean Laura took a chance on coming back from such a long way away. Laura that is her heart when it comes to Luke Laura could have died and no one would have known Now if that is not deep soulmate love. Then i don't know what is.

Luke still loves Laura... a friend who is a journalist asked Mr. Geary (march 09) if he thought Luke still loved Laura... he said he thought so.. then she asked if he thought Luke would fight for her... and he said "I do".... so now we just need Genevieve to take a vacation from (don't know Y&R's town name), so Ms. Francis' Laura can make a trip back to the Chuckles!!
I will never understand the writers disband the true love between them I know it's a soap but luke to marry Tracy & Laura to marry Drs nut cases sad & pathetic.
Oooh I love this comment. I have always thought she AT LEAST went toe to toe with him, but never seemed to get the same recognition. Besides the fact that she was so young... think she is a prodigy of human emotion and communication... just as Jonathan Jackson. Love both their subtle, yet extremely powerful approach, that makes their characters EXTREMELY relatable.

@@lynnmoore7029I’d say that we know from her marriage to Scotty and her desire to adhere to her wedding vows with him, that she takes those vows seriously. She thought Luke was dead and now that she finds he’s alive, she has to admit she slept with another man as her husband. I personally would have told him immediately but Laura has this good girl hang up and fears being thought of as a “tramp” as Scotty famously called her.

But she was only presumed dead. That always bugged me that they had him move on so quickly with Holly. I think the writers thought Luke was the draw and could move on but the fans said otherwise!
Laura ultimately stole a small dingy, took it out on a big sea, flag down a cruise ship, hopped a jet back to PC. All that was only after some1 provided her a window of escape & she took. Don’t believe I coulda done any of that.

The writers didn't know about Nik at the time... he only became a concept in the mid 90's.
