Engineering Hero: Frances Arnold (full)

A rebellious teenager who moved out of home, Professor Frances Arnold FREng went on to earn a Doctorate in chemical engineering, became a globally recognised engineer and the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize for chemistry. Her work on enzymes is now used in laboratories to make everything from advanced medicines to biofuels and laundry detergents.
