I had to reply the move over and over and yet never seen an ending like this! I am over 60 yrs old and thought when a king is in check you call it..... Are we playing checkers? Is that the way professionals play this game? Never seen a king being taken for a win.
No, in official Chess, you have to call your checks or at least in professional Chess, players don't call their checks but if their King isn't safe and they make a move, then it would be an illegal move and they can't do it. (However, the pros usually don't because they recognize the checks) However, you could also play "Okay to take King to win" if you want to add a bit more challenge and stress into the game as you have to make sure that your king is always safe or you could lose if your king gets captured. So this isn't how the Chess professionals or normal Chess works but this is still a fun rule to play with, very common in street chess. It is similar to touch rules vs. clock rule where if you touch / pick up a piece, you have to move it or your move officially counts when you hit the clock to end your move, allowing you to touch any pieces you want until you hit the clock. These rules are usually decided before you play. The normal rules are clock move + have to call your checks, but if you want, you could say you want to play king takes ok or touch moves only too.
This is Caesar's classic game winning the game, and lose it at the end, that's his M O. he was pouring on the trash talking in this game and he had to eat it all on a major blunder. I love it. You could really see that it hurt Caesar. 👍 I have to watch this game again.

Nice win by Mike! I thought he was done for, especially against Caesar. Caesar is a beast, with some really sneaky attacks. But every once in a while, he misses something obvious and it costs him. I can see him dominating in a classical chess format where there's no trash talking and he has plenty of time to analyze. I think he'd be the best one out there.
You know, one can be sneaky when he doesn't say "Check" while his opponents' King is in Check, sometimes like in this case your opponent (especially if they're under time pressure) can make a move without noticing the sneaky Check.

I didn't know it was legal to give a check without announcing + losing by making a move outside of forced moves to get out of check. If instead of the pawn take, Cesar played Kh1 what would be a continuation?

Guys, please can someone explain why this game ended, with Mike winning? Is it because Big Cesar played a move that's illegal as he was in check at the time? I've never seen that rule?
For some reason we all learn the game with someone telling us you have to say “check”, but it’s actually not a rule of the game. It would even be discouraged in tournament play as it’s a distraction to your opponent.
It adds a different challenge to the field. In a normal war, if your king or general is vulnerable, no one is going to wait until someone is there protecting them, you take the chance to attack them. Same rule with this alternative chess rule, you have to be constant aware of your king's position as well. It's their fault for hanging their king and while it might not represent how Chess is normally played, it adds a bit of a challenge to it and makes the game just a bit harder.
Okay I get Caesar didn't have much time. Is there any other reason he didn't play after the check? Sometimes I just don't get why these guys get up. He could've moved his pawn up for Mike's bishop to steal then moved his bishop up for the same thing then his rook. Mike wouldn't have been able to steal that. Caesar might've had a chance for Mike to run out of time if he did that quickly.
