I am an old grey haired F1 fan and I know that any team’s multi season domination is usually followed by a period of relative “underperforming” …. by definition . No big deal, no big surprise.
Exactly, it’s so refreshing to see this take. RB fans can be the worst, they forget that Mercedes dominated from 2014 till 2020 whilst RB were literally nowhere, after their period of domination from 2010 till 2013. In 2026 it will change again, RB won’t be the front runner

McLaren wasted so much time switching to Honda, then to Renault. Looking at it from an engineering point of view, if your CFD and wind tunnel results don’t agree with what happens on track the the CFD and/ or wind tunnel results are wrong somewhere. Just reading Adrian Newley’s book and he had that problem and discovered an issue with the wind tunnel at Southampton University. Hamilton and Russel have tried different setups with only minor improvements. There has to be something wrong with their modelling….
Something definitely right with McLaren's settings. I have a suspicion their car was so poor at the beginning of last season because they focused so much on getting the data of the CFD modelling and wind tunnel data to match
I feel like Ferrari feels different because Fred’s tenure has seen them make aggressive hiring decisions of people of various nationalities, instead of the old Ferrari way of filling the team overwhelmingly with Italians, boxing out dozens of prospects that could bring much needed technical skill to the team. Something’s been missing since Jean todt departed in 2007, as Domenicali’s tenure was a rollercoaster, and since 2012 they’ve been off the mark. I think Fred is the one that can bring them back to the glory a team like Ferrari should have.
As long as John Elkann doesn't interfere with anything, I'm much more hopeful for Ferrari but Elkann is not a racer, just a businessman and I believe he was desperate to sign Hamilton for marketability purposes. Bearman is currently 19th in F2. The teams understand the metrics of good drivers more than the public has access to. The Prema team itself has struggled to get their car in order, but are improving.
A similar thing happened at the end of the Mansell, Senna, Prost era where they all seemed to just take turns (then retire, or retire and return) for Willams which had a ridiculously dominant car. I think Horner will sign Sainz as a back up for Verstappen potentially leaving at the end of 25 or to keep him and Jos in check as part of the power play.
I love how media totally disregard the known facts for something that makes for a good story. Newey departure though breaking news to media and the rest of the f1 consumers, I am certain in fact both Max and Horner mentioned that Adrian's departure was already in the pipeline. The most important pieces at Redbull are robust to handle change. As for the engine thing, while it is true that, this is new territory for RB, but we do well to remember Redbull hired engineers from across the paddock including retaining guys from the honda project, I am pretty certain they have the right minds and a top class facility never mind

Max will win by 20 seconds
I don't think even Chandok is interested in Chandok's opinion.
Could you not get anyone better than Chandok as a guest? he has 11 entries, no points, and his best finish is 17th in formula E a decade ago.
Karun…. The McLaren DID NOT WORK IN THE SPRINT NOR THE GP QUALI…… they ate the soft tyres!! They couldn’t even drive 1 full Quali lap with them!!
`Why would Ferrari take failing Merc designers, aero people and engineers? I don't get it.
All this talk of the merc engine being so good for 2026…makes you wonder if Max takes Oscars seat for 26 since McLaren are doing better with the merc engine and we end up with Max and Lando recreating Senna-Prost.
Harry Benjamin was doing so well until he went full click bait nonsense. Sigh
You can’t all be first
2025 I'm driving for Mercedes guys.🙋
the seat no one wants.😂😂😂😂😢
I fear Max’s revenge this weekend…
Please replace Crofty with Harry!!
Absolutely agree !!
Mercedes will be finished until the new regs in 2026 end
2026 IS STILL THESE GROUND EFFECT CARS…. Which they clearly don’t understand. Only some specifics will be different from 2026 but STILL GROUND EFFECT….
@@Redlingsteinthat’s why I said until they change this era of car they won’t be winning anything
Mercedes are more lost than my wife’s car fob 😂. She should get a job at Brackley the amount of times she loses it. They’ll be a good fit.
Mercedes nailed one car and everyone thought they were legends!
Lucky seems more appropriate
they nailed one engine.
@@jkbzz yeah probably
@@jkbzz But haven't they technically nailed this engine as well? McLaren just won a race with that very engine. Aston wer fighting at the front with a Merc engine last year and so was Mclaren. We can say their engine is the reason for their dominance all we want but I don't think it was just that. After all they still had to make a good car to fully optimzie the engine. They've failed to do so these last three years.
What's up with this "Harry"? Why is he pasted into this podcast? His mouth movement doesn't even match what he is saying, is he some kind of AI commentator project?
Mercedes just don't get the regs. Had they allowed Loic to decide the direction, they'd of been far closer this year and not behind a customer team which is plain embarrassing.
Edit: a season with no Sainz and Stroll in a car is the most disgraceful situation that could happen in F1. Absolute joke.
A name change to Failcedes is mandatory.
Karun is a nightmare should be martin or ant alongside harry so chuffed for harry spent years doing all the lower classes and doing bbc live radio and loves MotoGP mega choice
I have no idea why they ask Chandok to comment on any of this - he was no good and never has original insight
Well Mercedes in a mess , Red Bull in a crisis, Newey going speculation, this is boring ! You have milked it enough, there are eight other teams, sixteen other drivers! I don’t think your programs are unbiased, with informative accurate information.
Everybody wants to see other drivers and teams in the mix to win and to champion. For this, it's important to make sure that what happened in Abu Dhabi 2021 and the budget transgression in 2022, that those unwanted interventions are prevented ever from happening again, and if they do, they will be more severely punished.

Sorry but if David Croft does not want to commentate then he should no longer do the job. Murray Walker was going here there and everywhere and he was in his 70s. No disrespect to Harry and I am sure he will do a good job.
Matt Baker will never, ever give his own opinion.Does he even have one?
Oh no! Anyway....
Sack Ted and you'll be REALLY getting somewhere.
Wow! Benjamin, you sucked as commentator in Imola! I understand that you need to fill some huge shoes, but man, try to bring something to the table, we can all read the stats and see what it is happening on the screen. Talk about slow burner and a pure disappointment.
This could be the worst commentary weekend ever....
When one has a loving character, one will receive that in return. That's what we have seen with the gratulations Lando received. Differs massively from Max.
You DTS fans are hilarious.
